Marcia C. Richardson
MYRTLE BEACH -- Marcia Church Richardson, 84, of Island Green died Sunday, April 11, 2004 at Georgetown Memorial Hospital.
Born in Newton, Mass. on Sept. 23, 1919, a daughter of the late Harold and Edith Ensign Church, she was the wife of the late Lt. Col. Howard B. Richardson, USA-Ret. Mrs. Richardson was also the much-loved mother and mother-in-law of William and Kristen Wickliffe of Chapel Hill, N.C., and William and Candice Miller of Orlando, Fla. Dearest of all, she was the adored "Grammy" of Ashley Wickliffe, brother Harold Church of Arlington, Mass. and her precious grand-dogs, Tootsie Wickliffe and Major Miller.
Marcia and her husband were married for 63 years, through his service in three wars and dozens of family moves around the country. Skilled potters and woodworkers, they also owned The Potter's Stall, a gallery in Chatham, Mass., which displayed their unique works for 14 years. They were each other's very best friend and unconditional supporter. An avid golfer and tennis player over the years, Marcia had a life packed with interests, lots of laughter and a love of trying anything new from commercial scalloping with her husband to making her yard a haven for birds, butterflies and bonsais.
Most of all, she was a loyal friend, a good neighbor, and a truly memorable woman, who has left all who knew her with a fine example of the gifts of believing in yourself and experiencing life to its fullest. Her family feels deeply blessed by the wonderful neighbors who became such a caring, extended family to her in her last years.
To honor her wishes no services will be held. She will be buried next to her husband at Arlington National Cemetery. Those who loved her will remember her always by the three words she used to describe so much of her life. Marcia Richardson was simply, "just the best".
