Margaret M. 'Peggy' Rice
MYRTLE BEACH -- Margaret Maloney "Peggy" Rice, 79, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center after an illness.
She was born in Flixton, England, a daughter of Annie Elizabeth and John Andrews Maloney.
She was married in Manchester, England, during World War II and came to America in 1946. She was a very active member of the Central Baptist Church in Myrtle Beach. She enjoyed gardening, all types of needlework and doing things for her family. She was a loving wife and mother.
Survivors include a son, John Andrew Rice and his wife, Lynn, of Myrtle Beach; a daughter, Tina Mims and her husband, David, of Pawleys Island; and two sisters, Mollie Galbraith and Jessie Smith, both of England.
She was predeceased by her husband, Bula Rice.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the home on Camellia Drive in Myrtle Beach.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Central Baptist Church on 38th Avenue North in Myrtle Beach.

Ruth L. VeHorn
LAKE WACCAMAW -- Ruth Lovett VeHorn, 79, died Sunday, April 13, 2003, at Premier Living of Lake Waccamaw.
She was a daughter of the late J.A. and Madge Lovett.
She was the widow of Robert W. VeHorn and was a retired schoolteacher.
Survivors include two sisters, Lillian Atkins of Jacksonville, Fla., and Lorraine L. Soles of Whiteville, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8:30 tonight at Meares Funeral Home in Fair Bluff.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Spring Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Nichols.

J. Blen Haselden
ANDREWS -- J. Blen Haselden, 28, died in Dillon.
Mr. Haselden was born in Charleston on May 24, 1975, a son of J. Wyatt Haselden and Joan Davis McDaniel. He grew up in Andrews and lived in
Nebraska for two years prior to returning to S.C. Mr. Haselden had lived in Dillon since December. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.
Surviving, in addition to his mother of Johnsonville and father of Georgetown, are: his step-father, Landrum W. McDaniel, Jr. of Johnsonville; his step-mother, Karen M. Haselden of Georgetown; two brothers, Tyler Haselden and Nicholas Haselden, both of Georgetown; a sister, Kateland McDaniel of
Johnsonville; his maternal grandparents, Noveline D. and James M. Cloaninger of Andrews; and his step-maternal grandmother, Grace J. McDaniel of Hemingway.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003, at Earle United Methodist Church. Officiating will be The Rev. J. Robert Huggins and The Rev. Billy E. Rufus. Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery. Arrangements are by the Andrews Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home.
John T. Hope
PAWLEYS ISLAND -- Mrs. John T. McDonald Hope, 93, of Pawleys Island died Tuesday, Sept. 23 in Waccamaw Hospital, Murrells Inlet.
Mrs. Hope was born Oct. 31, 1909 in Hartsville, daughter of Daniel and Julia Alice Sowell McDonald. She was the widow of William Herbert Hope Jr. of Rock Hill.
A graduate of Kershaw High School and Winthrop College, she and her husband made their home in Rock Hill. She was member of St. John's united Methodist Church, charter member of the Woman's Society of Christian Service, Euepian Club and volunteer for the American Red Cross and York County Nature Museum.
After her husband's death in 1982, she made her home at the Westminster Towers in Rock Hill. The last five years, she made her home at The Lakes at Litchfield, Pawleys Island. She was an associate member of St. Paul's Waccamaw United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her daughter; Carole Hope Magann, son-in-law, Wilford F. Magann, and grandson, William John Hope Magann of Mt. Gilead, Pawleys Island. Other survivors include nieces and nephews, Dr. Harold Dixon Stalvey and Elizabeth, of Pawleys Island; Alice Turner Norris, of Isle of Palms; Betty Sue McDonald, of Greenville; Erskine Butler McDonald and Tonita, of Camilla, Ga.; Richard Arthur McDonald and Loretta, of Lake Wylie.
Memorial may be sent to St. John's Center, St. Johns United Methodist Church, Rock Hill; York County Hospice; American Red Cross; or a charity of one's choice.
Carole C. Huguenin
SPARTANBURG -- Carole Caton Huguenin, 59 of Greengate Lane, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson.
Born in Spartanburg, a daughter of the late Fred Douglas and Mildred Burgess Caton, Ms Huguenin was a registered nurse and a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Spartanburg.
Survivors include three children, Sallie Huguenin Houston, of Saskatchewan, Canada, Thomas Barksdale Huguenin, Jr., of Murrells Inlet and Millie Huguenin Staggs, of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren, Ethan, Issac and Samuel Houston, Krista Nelson, Ashlyn Huguenin, and Grace Staggs; four brothers, John Atwater, Steve Atwater, Doug Caton, and Mike Caton; and one sister, Cheri Cooke.
A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at Bethel United Methodist Church, 245 Church St., Spartanburg. The family is at the home, 124 Greengate Lane, Spartanburg.

PAWLEYS ISLAND -- Mrs. Ediefell Lance, 64, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003. The funeral will be held 4 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26 at St. John AME Church with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25 at Wilds Courtyard Chapel. Wilds funeral home is in charge of services.
Janice D. Lupo
CONWAY -- Janice D. Lupo, 42, of Highway 472, died Monday, Sept. 22, 2003 at the Medical University of
South Carolina in Charleston.
Ms. Lupo was born in Conway, a daughter of Elton Roosevelt Lupo and the late Ruby Lee Lawrimore Lupo.
Surviving are her father, Elton R. Lupo of Conway; lifelong partner, Diane K. Dailey of Conway; two sisters, Gina Ludlam and her husband Vicky and Joy Bell and her husband Patrick all of Conway; two aunts, Grace Lupo and Rosie Holt both of Conway; two nephews, Jonathan Gore and Cody Ludlam and five nieces, Emily Strickland, Kathryn Bell, Brittany Bell, Madelyn Bell and Danielle Ludlam.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday Sept. 25 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel with Rev. John Holmes officiating. She requested that those of you who wish to ride your bike please do so for the "Last Rumble" wearing your bike attire.
