NICHOLS -- Margaret D. Johnson, 96, widow of Mayberry G. Johnson, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003.
She was born in Floral City, Fla., a daughter of the late John Ellis and Lillie Blake Cooksey Dawsey.
She attended Pleasant View Baptist Church.
Survivors include three sons, Albert and Gordon Johnson, both of Nichols, and Lehman Johnson of Troy, N.C..; four daughters, Sarah Lilly Johnson and Margaret Genell Owens, both of North Myrtle Beach, Kay Sylvia Johnson-Mauriocourt of Atlanta and Rose Marie Ventura of Taylors; 19 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Al Johnson Jr., R.J. Ventura, Brint Owens, Brandon Owens, Bill Johnson, Rick Johnson, Richard Johnson and Greg Ventura.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Meares Funeral Home in Mullins.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Pleasant View Baptist Church. The Rev. Sam Whaley will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

SURFSIDE BEACH -- Joseph A. Lentini, 68, husband of Rosemarie Angello Lentini, of Caropines, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
Arrangements will be announced by McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach.
Gertrude W. Lynch
CONWAY -- Gertrude Willis Lynch, 91, of Fifth Avenue, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2003, at Conway Medical Center.
She was a daughter of the late Ulysses and Lessie Page Willis of Dillon County.
She was educated in the Dillon County public schools. She was a member of Bethel AME Church, where she served on the senior missionary society and stewardess board No. 3. She was awarded for participating in Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
Survivors include four daughters, Christine Person and her husband, Charles, of Florence, Doris Gillison and her husband, Sandy, and Betty Lynch, all of Conway, and Alice Johnson and her husband, Charles, of Camp Springs, Md.; two sons, Samuel Garreth Lynch of New York and Mervin Lynch of Conway; 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Pearl Floyd and her husband, Lumbell, of New Britton, Conn.; three brothers, Howard Willis and his wife, Rosalee, and Julius Willis, all of Latta, and Stephen Willis and his wife, Gladys, of New Britton; a sister-in-law, Juanita Kelly of Conway; and a brother-in-law, Wade Brown of Washington, D.C.
The funeral will be at noon today at Bethel AME Church in Conway. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery in Dillon County.

MURRELLS INLET -- Edwin Francis Malone, 81, of Mount Gilead, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at Waccamaw Community Hospital.

Esther Z. Marcum
MYRTLE BEACH -- Esther Zelene Marcum, 74, of S.C. 544, died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2003, at home after an illness.
She was born April 28, 1928, in Yolen, W.Va., a daughter of the late Fred and Myrtle West Rippeth.
She attended Socastee Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Arthur Marcum Jr. of McArthur, W.Va., and Lyle Marcum of Akron, Ohio; four daughters, Dinah Lilly of Mount Pleasant, N.C., Anita C. Canaday of Myrtle Beach, Delessa Lytle of McArthur and Kim Tolliver of Myrtle Beach; a stepdaughter, Joyce Ann Davidson of Little Rock, Ark.; a brother, James Rippeth of Richmond, Va.; a sister, Ruth Mullins of Beckley, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Socastee Original Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Darren Squires will officiate.

LORIS -- Moddie McZeke Sr., 82, died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003, at Loris Healthcare System.
Survivors include seven sons; two daughters; and numerous grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Helen; five daughters; and two sons.

GALIVANTS FERRY -- John Franklin Smith, 73, of Jeno Road, died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2003, at Conway Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 13, 1929, in Conway, a son of the late Bruce and Martha Jane Lawson Smith.
He was a member of Pee Dee Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include a sister, Mazzie Turbeville of Galivants Ferry; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
The funeral will be at 11:30 today at Mount Herman Baptist Church. The Rev. Leroy Larrimore and the Rev. Jimmy Floyd will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
