Theresa Lander-Duffy
NEWBERRY — Theresa Anne "Terrie" Lander-Duffy, 49, of O'Neal Street, died Friday, April 5, 2002.
She was born in Abbeville, a daughter of Comptroller General Jim Lander and Jolene Smith Lander.
She attended Winthrop University and graduated from Lander University, where she was affiliated with Reflections literary magazine. She was employed by GLEAMS in Greenwood. She was a member of Freedom Baptist Church where she was very involved in Christian Outreach. She was also a member of the S.C. Victim's Advocate Network, the Governor's Youth Council, the Newberry County Youth Pregnancy Prevention Council, and the Newberry County Sistercare Steering Committee.
Survivors, in addition to her parents of Newberry, include her husband, Mark Duffy; two stepsons, Christopher Matthews Duffy of Sarasota, Fla., and Jamie McCurry of Abbeville; two stepdaughters, Corina Anne Duffy of Sarasota, Fla., and Jennifer McCurry of Abbeville; four sisters, Britt Snelling and her husband, Howard, of York, Leslie Orr and her husband, Sam, and Gail Floyd and her husband, Lewie, all of Lexington, and Jeannie Brehmer and her husband, Henry, of Newberry; a brother, Capt. David Lander and his wife, Kim, of Fort Leavenworth, Kan.; and 15 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a sister, Victoria Lander Beckham.
Visitation will be at the home of her parents, 2029 Main St. and from 5 to 8 p.m. tonight at McSwain-Evans Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Monday at First Baptist Church. The Rev. Eddie Bledsoe and the Rev. Dr. Kenneth Harmon will officiate. Burial will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Glenn P. Plyler
COLUMBIA — Glen Parnell Plyler died Friday, March 29, 2002, after a brief illness.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Doris "Dot" Oswald Plyler of Columbia; sons, Chris P. Plyler and his wife, Allison, of Columbia, Gary T. Plyler and his wife, Darlene, of Pawleys Island; a daughter, Glenda Plyler Arnold and her husband, Richard, of Pawleys Island; and aunt, Ruth T. Bankhead of Columbia; and his grandchildren, Benjamin, Patrick and Christen Plyler, Kelli and Thomas Plyler and Jason and Allison Kaylor.
The funeral was April 1 at Incarnation Lutheran Church in Columbia. Burial was in Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia.

Victoria Sanders
CONWAY — Victoria Marion Saladino Sanders, 73, wife of James Q. Sanders, of Myrtle Trace Drive, died Thursday, April 4, 2002, at Conway Hospital after an illness.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late Emil and Rose Nicosia Saladino.
She was a member of St. James Catholic Church.
Survivors, in addition to her husband of Conway, include three sons, James M. Sanders and his wife, Diane, of Longwood, Fla., Robert Sanders and his wife, Coleen, of Lithia, Fla., and Steven Sanders of Portland; two daughters, Susan Potter and her husband, Clifford, of Conway, Patty Sanders and her husband, Mike Roberts, of Pagosa Springs, Colo.; a brother, John Saladino of Sag Harbor, N.Y.; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday at St. James Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with officiating. Entombment will be in Hillcrest Mausoleum.
Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway chapel, is in charge.
John C. Woodward
COLUMBIA — John Carol Woodward, 72, died Friday, April 5, 2002.
He was born in Enoree, a son of the late Millard Filmore and Maude Rhodes Woodward.
He was a graduate of Florida State University and the University of Alabama. He retired from the U.S. Air Force. He was formerly a professor at the University of South Carolina and zoning administrator for Richland County and Surfside Beach.
For more than 30 years, he was a member of North Trenholm Baptist Church, where he taught the Senior Men's Sunday School Class.
Survivors include sons, Bill Woodward of Columbia and Fred Woodward of Estill Springs, Tenn.; a daughter, Sandra Deen of Columbia; sisters, Sara Mudge of Woodruff, Edna Burrell and Catherine Simmons, both of Enoree; and granddaughters, Kimberly Flynn and Rebecca Shea.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. tonight at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street chapel.
The memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at North Trenholm Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at Cedar Shoals Baptist Church in Enoree. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Albert Barbieri
MURRELLS INLET — Albert Peter "Abby" Barbieri, 69, of Indigo Creek died Sunday, June 30, 2002, at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center.
He was born April 8, 1933, in Paterson, N.J., a son of the late Christopher and Elizabeth Marrich Barbieri.
He was an Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was the owner of B and P Pool Co. He was a member of the Church of the Resurrection and Indigo Creek Golf Club.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Barbieri; a son, John Barbieri of Virginia; a daughter, Gail Tyndall of New Jersey; two sisters, Marie Mokos of Myrtle Beach and Phyllis Harland of Florida; a grandson, Andrew Tyndall of New Jersey; and three granddaughters, Katie Tyndall of New Jersey and Ryann and Lisa Barbieri of Virginia.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 Sunday at Goldfinch Funeral Home, beach chapel.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Church of the Resurrection.

CONWAY — Katie Farewell Benjamin, 91, of Highland Ave., died Tuesday, July 2, 2002, at Conway Hospital after an illness.
