SHALLOTTE, N.C. — Emil C. "Jim" Allen Jr., 77, of Pelican Place S.W., died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at home.
Arrangements will be announced by Brunswick Funeral Service and Crematory.
Ryland Altman
CONWAY — Ryland Altman, 83, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Conway Hospital, after an illness.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway chapel.
Arrangements will be announced by the funeral home.
Julius 'Tom' Blackmon
FLORENCE — Julius Vernon "Tom" Blackmon, 79, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, after an illness.
He was born in Boardman, N.C., a son of the late Edgar Brantley and Clara Lee Ward Blackmon.
He was the retired owner of Floor Covering Specialties of Florence. He was a member of Central United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Rotary Club and a World War II veteran with the Flying Tigers 14th Air Force Association.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia McKenzie Blackmon; his children, Scott Vernon Blackmon, and his wife, Ta-Juana, and Kim Blackmon McClam, and her husband, O'Neil, all of Florence; grandchildren, Johannah Blackmon, Jessica Blackmon, Charlie Hewitt and Joseph Hewitt, all of Florence; a brother, Ed Blackmon of Garden City; and a sister, Lib Blackmon of Garden City.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Waters-Powell Funeral Home of Florence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Florence National Cemetery.

William S. Creveling
FLORENCE — William Sloan Creveling, formerly of North Myrtle Beach and Charlotte, N.C., died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002, in Florence.
He was born Aug. 10, 1918, in Greencastle, Ind., a son of the late William S. Creveling Sr. and Eleanor Cole Apgar.
He was a 1940 graduate of Bucknell University. He served as an officer in the Army during World War II. He operated his own business as a manufacturer's representative for more than 30 years. He retired to North Myrtle Beach, where he lived for more many years and was a member of Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church and Pine Lakes Country Club.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Ellen Gail Creveling.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Florence Rea Creveling; three sons, William Sloan Creveling III of Waxhaw, N.C., Robert Scott Creveling of Florence and Douglas Cole Creveling of Knoxville, Tenn.; five grandchildren, Robert Scott Creveling Jr. of Columbia, Stephanie Faye Creveling of Clemson, Mary Lauren Creveling, Alexander Cole Creveling and Emma Beatrice Creveling of Knoxville, Tenn.
A memorial service was held Saturday at his residence in Florence.
Elaine Mary Hager
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Elaine Mary Hager, 48, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at home after an illness.
She was born July 5, 1954, in Providence, R.I., a daughter of Lorette Maltais Mulcahey and the late Raymond F. Mulcahey Sr.
She lived in Rhode Island for 25 years before moving to Myrtle Beach. She stayed in Myrtle Beach for two years before moving to Charlotte. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in West Warwick, R.I., and was employed in various retail and bookkeeping positions before her illness.
She was always one to do for others and was always giving to others before herself. She loved to travel and to spend quiet time with her two grandchildren.
Survivors, in addition to her mother of Providence, include her husband, Robert Charles Hager; a daughter, Kimberly DeJoseph, and her husband, Christopher, of Coventry, R.I.; two sons, Robert C. Hager Jr., and his wife, Christine, of Charlotte and Brian M. Hager, and his wife, Angie, of Myrtle Beach; two grandchildren, Tyler DeJoseph and Taylor Hager; two brothers; five sisters; several nieces and nephews; and her canine companion, Elvis.
Memorials may be made to Hospice at Charlotte, 1420 E. Seventh St., Charlotte, NC 28204.
Visitation will be Friday in the Butterfield Funeral Home in Cranston, R.I.
A Memorial Mass will be offered Saturday at Christ the King Catholic Church in West Warwick.

Roy E. 'Bud' Hope Jr.
CAROLINA SHORES, N.C. — Roy E. "Bud" Hope Jr., 83, died Thursday, Oct. 10, 2002.
He was born Jan. 10, 1919, in Akron, Ohio, a son of the late Roy E. and Nell Boyd Hope.
He was a World War II veteran, Mason and Rotary member. He was retired from the insurance industry and a member of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in North Myrtle Beach.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Hope; two daughters, Susan Sommers of Findlay, Ohio and Barbara Hope, of Kernersville, N.C.; a son, Robert Hope of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; a sister, Doris Denchik of Canal Fulton, Ohio; four grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 801 11th Ave., North Myrtle Beach. The Rev. Dr. Wilmot T. Merchant II will officiate.

James 'Tom' Jones Sr.
GALIVANTS FERRY — James Thomas "Tom" Jones Sr., 78, of Jonestown Road, died Sunday, Oct. 13, 2002, at Marion County Medical Center after an illness.
He was born in Horry County, a son of the late Jacob Rowell Jones Sr. and Bessie Marie Jordan Jones.
He was a Army Air Corp veteran of World War II. He was a member and past commander of American Legion Post No. 81 in Aynor and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 10713 in Aynor.
He was a lifetime member of Pisgah United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, superintendent, trustee, officer of the cemetery committee and on several other church committees.
He was predeceased by a brother, Stephen Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Dottie Royals Jones of Galivants Ferry; a son, James "Jimmy" Thomas Jones Jr. of Galivants Ferry; three daughters, Ann J. Rabon and her husband, Billy, Amy J. Ward and her husband, Sam, all of Aynor, and Gena Jones of Mullins; five grandchildren, Dr. Brian Rabon and his wife, Jennifer, John S. Oswald III, Chad Rabon, Kathryn Ward and Samantha Ward; one great-granddaughter, Macie Elisabeth Rabon; one brother, the Rev. J.R. Jones Jr. of James Island; eight sisters, Marie Thompkins of Aynor, Bethany James Smith of Conway, Trudy Shockley of Simpsonville, S.C., Elnita Smith of Socastee, Della Kirkland of Saluda, Ruth Daniel of Lamar, Yvonne Stokes of Denmark, and Nancy Casey, of Denver.
Visitation will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway chapel.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pisgah United Methodist Church. The Rev. Will Harper and the Rev. Tom Williams will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
