Joseph J. Aramanda
MYRTLE BEACH — Joseph J. Aramanda, 81, of Old Bryan Drive, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002 at home.
He was born Feb. 4, 1920, in New York City, a son of the late G. William and Annette Landri Aramanda.
He was retired from Manhattan Industries as a director of operations in Glen Rock, N.J. He served during World War II as a captain in the Army and also served as a post commander in the Long Bay Power Squadron. He moved to Myrtle Beach in 1985 from Englewood, N.J.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara D. Aramanda; a son, James Dalton Aramanda and his wife, Linda, of Emerson, N.J.; three daughters, Marybeth Sirinck and her husband, David, of Gladstone, Mo., Nancy Szymkowicz and her husband, John, of New Windsor, N.Y. and Jo-Ann Kaeten and her husband, Karl, of Ringoes, N.J.; a brother, John Aramanda of Beaufort, N.C.; a sister, Virginia Kesterson of Broomall, Pa.; nine grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
The funeral will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at McMillan-Small Funeral Home in Myrtle Beach. Dr. Kirk Lawton will officiate.
Visitation will follow the service.
Entombment will be at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Va.
Anita Ashe
NORTH AUGUSTA — Anita Orem Kirby Ashe, 72, of West Martintown Road, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at University Hospital in Augusta, Ga.
She was born Dec. 15, 1929, in Baltimore, the only child of the late Norfolk Orem and Stella Bradley Kirby.
She was a niece of the late Alice Virginia Bradley, a well-known Chester businesswoman.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Edwin Kirkpatrick Ash Sr., a retired DuPont Savannah River Co. employee.
Anita was reared in Baltimore and Chester. She graduated from Chester County High School and Winthrop College in Rock Hill. She was a member of Fairview Presbyterian Church in North Augusta. She retired from the Aiken County School System after teaching for 36 years. She taught most of those years at Clearwater Elementary School in Clearwater.
Her family was everything to her. She adored her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and her many friends. She loved Jesus Christ, our lord and savior, and is home with him now. She will be greatly missed.
Survivors, in addition to her husband, include four sons, Edwin Kirkpatrick Ashe Jr. and his wife, Brigitte, of Pawleys Island, William Kirby Ashe and his wife, Dianne, of North Augusta, Charles Bradley Ashe and his wife, Angela, of Edgefield and Bryan Douglas Ashe and his wife, Geri, of North Augusta; 15 grandchildren, Erica Nicole Jeselnik of North Augusta, David Bryan Ashe, USMC, of Camp Lejeune, N.C., Kelly Anne Petruska of Columbia, Christopher Douglas Ashe of North Augusta, Shannon Louise Ashe of Edgefield, Elizabeth Erin Ashe, Alison Nicole Ashe, and Brandon William Ashe, all of North Augusta, Colin Kirkpatrick Ashe of Aiken, William Kirby Ashe Jr. of North Augusta, Cory Elias Ashe of Edgefield, Rebekah Macie Ashe of Augusta, Brenna Bailey Ashe, Abigail Anita Ashe and Katherine Grace Ashe, all of North Augusta; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Alice Creasy, Angela Cassidy Jeselnik and Chandler David Ashe, all of North Augusta; and several cousins, including Philip Bradley Moore of Midlothian, Va., Brady Moore and Charlene Moore, both of Wicomico County, Md., Ronald L. Ward of Severna Park, Md., and Peggy Wilhelm Hughes of Wilmington, Del.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Rowland Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Fairview Presbyterian Church. The Rev. Bill Johnston will officiate. Pallbearers will be her nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be her grandsons. Burial will be at Pineview Memorial Gardens in North Augusta.

GEORGETOWN — Linda G. Elliott, 54, wife of John Henry Elliott, died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2002, at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston.
Arrangements will be announced by Graham Funeral Home of Georgetown.
Billy Fairly
TABOR CITY, N.C. — Billy Fairly, formerly of the Green Acres community, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2002, at Carolinas Medical Center Mercy in Charlotte, N.C.

Thurston Gerald
TABOR CITY, N.C. — Thurston Gerald, 76, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2002, after an illness.
Survivors include his children's mother, Mozella Haynes; his children, Sylvia, Katrina and Vernest, all of Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Westside Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Greater Grace Non-Denominational Church.
Gwendolyn Johnson
CONWAY — Gwendolyn Johnson, 77, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2002, at Conway Hospital.
She was born Oct. 23, 1924, a daughter of the late Robert Clarke Sr. and Ethel O. Hill.
She graduated from the Philadelphia Public School District. She was employed by the federal government and devoted her service as a supply clerk until her retirement. She was a strong advocate of the mental disabilities and senior citizen organizations. Her spiritual walk was enhanced as she had fellowship with Faith Temple and True Way churches of God in Christ.
Survivors include a sister, Brenda M. Clarke of New York; two nieces, Karen Epps-Harris and Deborah A. Diggs; two nephews, Bernard and Bruce Clarke of Philadelphia; five grandnephews, Carver, Carl, Clarke, Dexter and Tremel; five great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, Kate, Abigail, Adara, Joshua and Gregory; two aunts, Lois Patton and Hazel Clarke; an uncle, Enas S. Hill Sr.; and many other relatives and friends.
Private visitation will be from 8 to 9 tonight at Rhue's Mortuary.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Faith Temple Church of God in Christ.
June H. Lundy
GEORGETOWN — June H. Lundy, 67, wife of C. Nolan Lundy, died Wednesday, Jan. 16, 2002, at the Medical University of South Carolina Hospital in Charleston.
She was born July 30, 1934, in Mobile County, Ala., a daughter of Idouma Weekly Havard and the late Ernest Herbert Havard.
She was a graduate of Vigor High School and attended Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala. She had resided in Georgetown since 1971. Previously, she was employed as a secretary with the Army in Texas and later at Brookley Air Force Base in Mobile.
She was a charter member of the Belle Isle Garden Club. She was a member of First Baptist Church and the co-ed Adult II-Lide Williams Sunday school class. She was also a former children's Sunday school teacher and a homemaker.
Survivors, in addition to her husband and her mother of Chickasaw, Ala., include a son, Robert N. Lundy and his wife, Amy, of St. Petersburg, Fla; a daughter, Claire Lundy-Surratt and her husband, William, of Georgetown; two grandchildren, Samantha June Lundy and William Nolan Surratt; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Larry G. Havard.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Graham Funeral Home and after the funeral.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church of Georgetown. The Rev. Ted Sherrill will officiate. A committal service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pine Crest Cemetery in Mobile.
