Sarah D. Lowder
Mrs. Sarah Danuline “Dandy” Lowder, age 80, died Oct. 12, 2004, in a Florence nursing facility, after an illness.
Born in Florence County, she was a daughter of the late Barney Gaston Lee and Loca Mae Edge Lee. Mrs. Lowder was a graduate of Winthrop College and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She worked for more than 30 years as an educator, having taught grammar and high school. She was a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry M. Lowder; and a brother, Barnwell Franklin Lee.
Surviving are two daughters, Harriet Dannette (Jeff) Cole of Florence and Marie L. (Doug) Bowles of Bonneau Beach; a son, Harrington Lee “Hal” (Frankie) Lowder of Manning; two grandchildren; and two step-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Turbeville.
Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Eunice Rich Jordan
Eunice Rich Jordan, 85, widow of Charles F. Jordan, died Saturday, October 16, 2004, in NHC of Sumter.
Born October 28, 1918, in Manning, she was a daughter of the late William S. and Fannie Mell Bradham Rich. She was retired from B&D, worked as a CNA at Tuomey Healthcare System, and was a member of Grace Baptist Church.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas N. (Donna) Hair, Jr. of Tampa, Fla. and Steve Jordan of Dallas,
Texas; a daughter, Sandra (John) Phillips of Morehead City, N.C.; a brother Bill (Barbara) Rich of Lexington; four sisters, Florence Amdur of Cookville, Tenn., Mary Essie Lowder of Manning, Amelia “Mimi” (Joe) Spencer of Mobile, Ala.; and Ruth (Julian) Blizzard of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; two stepsons, Charles F. (Claudia) Jordan, Jr. of Sumter and John Tart of Denver,
Colo.; a number of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Sara Margaret Lowder and Willie Rhodes.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2004, in the chapel of Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Mike Lowder officiating.
Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

Moses Lee Jones
Moses Lee Jones, 61, husband of Katie Mae Starks Jones, died Wednesday, Oct. 13, 2004, at his residence.
Born Dec. 29, 1942, in Clarendon County, Mr. Jones was a son of the late Plummer and Millie Davis Jones.
He attended the public schools of Clarendon County. He was a member of the Spring Hill A.M.E. Church.
Survivors include his wife; one son, Morall Jones of West Sayville,
N.Y.; nine daughters, Tina Cooper of Reston, Va., Mozell (Allen) Thomas, Angie (Tracey) Gamble and Brenda (Alonzo) Jones all of Manning, Maria (Charles) Stukes of Sumter, Denise Jones of Columbia, Darlene (J.D.) Miller of Bishopville, Cynthia (Mack) McKenzie of Columbia, Gloria Jones of
Tennessee; one adopted daughter, Barnett Bennett of Ft.
Washington, Md.; one brother, Burgess Jones of
New York,
N.Y.; one sister, Ida Washum of Long Island,
N.Y.; and 18 grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Monday, Oct. 18, 2004, at the Spring Hill A.M.E. Church in Summerton. Officiating ministers were the Rev. Phillip Mixon assisted by the Rev. O’Neal Miller, Evangelist Deloris Parker and Pastor O’Celia Blue.
Summerton Funeral Service of Summerton was in charge of the arrangements.
Robert Jackson
Robert Jackson, 65, husband of Ruth Bowen Jackson, died Oct. 11, 2004, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born March 10, 1939, in Clarendon County, he was a son of Robert Jackson Sr. and Willie Mae Pearson Jackson. Mr. Jackson was a member of Tiverton Missionary Baptist Church, Wedgefield, where he was a member of the trustee board and a faithful member of the adult Sunday school class. He was always willing to work wherever asked to serve. He loved his church and enjoyed attending services at Tiverton Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed by Walker Chicken Farms for a number of years.
Survivors include one stepdaughter, Shirley Choice (Joseph) of Sumter; five step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; and one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by two stepchildren, Raymond Harvin and Angeline Peoples.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Tiverton Missionary Baptist Church, Wedgefield, with the Rev. J.H. Pringle, pastor, assisted by the Revs. Lemeul
Washington, Dr. C. Richburg, O’Donald Dingle and Minister Elizabeth Gadson.
Burial was in the church cemetery.

Azalee B. Hilton
TAMPA, Fla. – Azalee Brunson Hilton, 77, widow of Issac “Ike” Hilton, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at the residence of her nephew, James and Lillian Brunson, 303 E. Frances Ave., Tampa, Fla.
Born in Sumter County, on Aug. 20, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Rainey Brunson Sr. and Victoria Gordon Brunson. She received her formal education in the public schools of Sumter and Clarendon counties. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, where she was the church clerk for 30 years, a Sunday school teacher, a member of the senior choir, Missionary Society and the first president of the Pastor’s Aide Committee. She was retired from C.E. Eden, where she cared for many generations of the Eden family.
Survivors include one nephew, Deacon James O. Brunson and wife, Minister Lillian C. Brunson, of Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Essie Mae (Pete) Woods of Sumter; two nieces, Beverly Brunson of Tampa, Fla., and Nancy Lemon of Manning; two sisters-in-law, Anna Liza Hilton and Clara Peterson, both of Manning; three devoted friends, Dorothy Blanding, Lucinda Epps and Sally Mouzon, all of Manning; a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Oct. 17, 2004, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Manning, with the Rev. Jonathan Anderson, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Sylvester Hicks.
Burial was in the churchyard cemetery.

J.L. Harrison
J.L. Harrison, 65, husband of Ethel Goodman Harrison, died Oct. 10, 2004, in Turbeville.
Born Oct. 31, 1938, in Turbeville, Clarendon County, he was a son of the late Pearl McDowell and Sam Harrison. In his youth, he attended Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where he accepted Christ as his personal savior. He attended the public schools of Clarendon County. In his early years, he moved to Paterson, N.J. He was employed with Center Lumber Co. for 30 years and retired and moved home.
Survivors besides his wife, Ethel G. Harrison of the home, include one son, Lee McFadden of Paterson, N.J.; two daughters, Debbie Austin and Yolanda Harris, both of Paterson, N.J.; two brothers, Willie Harrison of Turbeville and George “Bo” Harrison of Lake City; five sisters, Ida Mae Harley of Philadelphia, Sadie Rufus and Pearl Harrison, both of Turbeville, Meida Williams of Jamaica,
N.Y., and Noble (Daniel) Stephens of Little River; and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three sisters and seven brothers.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at Hickory Grove Baptist Church, Turbeville, with Elder Zander Davis, pastor, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Jerome McCray and the Rev. Lucious Wheeler.
Burial was in the churchyard cemetery.

Infant Jaheim D. Wells
Infant Jaheim Dondre Wells died Wednesday, October 17, 2001, at McLeod Regional Medical Center.
Born the same day, he was the son of Melvin Jeron Brown and Lula Monique Wells.
Survivors include a maternal grandmother, Emma Lee Wells; paternal grandmother, Naomi Brown of Manning; and a paternal great-grandmother, Sadie McFadden of Turbeville.
Services were 9:30 a.m. Sunday in Goodwin Cemetery in the Shiloh community with the Rev. Samuel Burgess officiating.
Margaret Kramer Mooneyhan
Margaret Virginia Kramer Mooneyhan, 77, widow of Henry Mooneyhan, died Saturday, October 20, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born in Waldorf, Md., she was the daughter of the late Betsy Kramer Mooneyhan.
Survivors include a son, John Henry Mooneyhan of Sumter; a daughter, Theresa Mooneyhan McElveen of Summerton; a brother, George Kramer of
New Jersey; two sisters, Helen of
Washington, D.C., and Agnes of Kansas; two grandchildren, Marlana Mooneyhan Brown and Jessica Virginia Mooneyhan of Sumter.
Services were 11 a.m. Tuesday at Bullock Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Harold Kirkland officiating.
Burial followed in Sumter Cemetery.
Samuel Jones
Samuel Jones, 65, husband of Augusta Jones, died Thursday, October 18, 2001, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center.
Born Aug. 8, 1936, in Clarendon County, he was the son of the late Lee and Lucille McCullen Jones. Educated in the public schools of Sumter County, he served in the United States Armed Forces and was a disabled Korean War Veteran.
Survivors besides his wife include four sons, Vincent, Darius, Shane and Tyerone; three daughters, Denise, Mickie and Barbara; a brother, Fred Jones; three sisters, Alfreda Harris of Rochester,
N.Y., Geneva Covington of Sumter and Emma Durant of Brooklyn,
N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law; two daughters-in-law; a host of nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Jones; and two sisters, Mary Jones and Annie Mae Jones.
Services were 11 a.m. Monday at Palmer Memorial Chapel. Burial followed in Evergreen Memorial Park.
Tappy L. DuBose
Tappy Lesesne DuBose, 95, widow of Marvin DuBose Sr., died Thursday, October 25, 2001, at White Oak Nursing Center in Spartanburg.
Born April 27, 1906, in Summerton, she was the daughter of the late John W. and Julia Anderson Lesesne. She was a graduate of Winthrop College, taught in Williamsburg County Schools and was a former employee of Winthrop College, having served 21 years in the College Book Store. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Spartanburg.
Survivors include a son, Marvin DuBose Jr. of Moore, S.C.; a sister, Sue Mincey of Columbia; and two grandsons, Brian and Glenn DuBose of Spartanburg.
Services were 2 p.m. Sunday in Manning Cemetery with the Rev. Murray Gibbons officiating.
Gladys V. Dantzler
Gladys Virginia Dantzler, 97, widow of Harold Leroy Dantzler, died Monday, October 22, 2001, at her home.
Born April 27, 1904, in Norfolk, Va., she was the daughter of the late Thomas Howell and Carrie Sears Bobbitt.
She lived in Hickory, N.C., Conestee Falls, N.C., and Moncks Corner for many years. She was a retired antique dealer and a former member of Business and Professional Women of Moncks Corner, the Berkeley County Historical Society and lifelong Presbyterian Church, PCA.
Survivors include a daughter, Barbara Ardis, and her husband, Herman, of Manning; a sister, Dorothy Lash of Clinton, Md.; four grandchildren, Jerry and Thomas Riley of Ridgeville, Virginia Bailey of Memphis, Tenn., and Amy Ellery of Carson, Nev.; seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Betty Dantzler of Athens, Ga.
She was preceded in death by a son, Leroy Dantzler Jr.; three brothers, Thomas, Robert and Willard Bobbitt; and a sister, Elizabeth Campbell.
Services were 11 a.m. Thursday at New Covenant Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Charles C. Tyler officiating. Burial followed in Berkeley Memorial Gardens.
