NEW YORK, N.Y. — Services for Charles Odom, 87, son of Charles Sr. and Elizabeth Odom, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (11 a.m. visitation) at Guinyard & Son’s Funeral Home, Barnwell, S.C., with burial in Hope Memorial Park. He died December 3, 2004. Surviving are sisters, Lillie Hickmon, Vernell Christian; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

FORT MILL — Masonic rites for Jimmie Hicks Pendergrass, 66, U.S.A.F. Korean veteran, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Fort Mill Moose Lodge #1240 with visitation until 3 p.m. Fort Mill Funeral Home is in charge. He died December 9, 2004. Surviving are son, David; siblings, Virginia Rollins, Charlie and Dwight Pendergrass; half-siblings, Gladys Rhodes, Tommy and Rickie Pendergrass.
Minnie Spearman
COLUMBIA — Minnie “Go-Go” Spearman, 100, of Dunwoody, Ga., formerly of Columbia, S.C., passed away December 8, 2004. Mrs. Spearman resided in Cheraw, S.C., from 1948 to 1975. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe C. Spearman. She is survived by her daughter, Margie (Spearman) and Gene Groves of Columbia, S.C., son, James C. and Barbara Spearman Sr. of Alpharetta, Ga., grandchildren, Lee S. and Bill Hallenberg of Buford, Ga., James (Jay) C. and Paige Spearman Jr. of Dunwoody, Ga., Jane S. and Michael Sedran of Alpharetta, Ga., Claire G. and Kevin McCarron of Daphne, Ala., Andrews (Andy) E. and Cheryl Groves of Mt. Pleasant, S.C., 8 great-grandchildren, and many friends at the Atrium Georgetown. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 11, 2004, at 3 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Road, Sandy Springs, Ga., with family receiving friends from 1:30- 3 o’clock prior to the service. Graveside services are pending. Arrangements by H.M. Lt. Col. James Pearman Jr.
COLUMBIA — Funeral service for Lt. Col. James Nathaniel Pearman, Jr., U.S. Army, (Ret.), 87, of Columbia, will be held 11 a.m. Saturday morning, December 11, 2004, at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, officiated by The Reverend Eugene Rowell of Gantt Street Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Eastview Cemetery, Honea Path, SC, with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock this Friday evening in the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Gantt Street Baptist Church, 2121 Gantt St., Cayce, SC 29033, or for the purpose of COPD research to the American Lung Association of SC, 1817 Gadsden St., Columbia, SC 29201.
Lt. Col.. Pearman died Wednesday, December 8, 2004. Born in Anderson, SC, he was the only son among seven children of the late James N. and Savannah Ashley Pearman. Following graduation from Clemson University in 1940, he entered the 3rd Division Army. He received commendation from General Omar Bradley and was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star. Lt. Col. Pearman was involved in three amphibious landings in Anzio, Southern France, and Africa. He was a retired U.S. Army veteran of WWII and Vietnam. Mr. Pearman later retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member of Gantt Street Baptist Church, the National Rifle Association, the VFW and Retired Officers Association.
Survivors include: daughter, Mona P. Leitzsey; two stepchildren, 2 grandsons, two great-grandsons and two great-granddaughters. Mr. Pearman was preceded in death by his wife, Jewel Abott Pearman.

Mrs. Witherspoon, wife of the late J. Hayne Witherspoon, died Thursday, December 9, 2004. Born in Clemson, she was a daughter of the late Lee Isom and Annetta Goodman McHugh. She was a member of Shandon Presbyterian Church, where she was active in Sunday School work and Presbyterian Women. She was a graduate of Winthrop College and taught school in Oconee, Sumter, and Lee Counties. She was a former member of the Sasanqua Garden Club and Colonial Dames XVII Century.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Ray Howe of Bennettsville; son and daughter-in-law, Joe and Beth Witherspoon of Cheraw; a sister, Miss Nellie McHugh of Easley (formerly of Clemson); six grandchildren, Raymond Howe, Betsy Cassidy, Anne Gordy, Lisa Yancey, John Witherspoon, Chris Witherspoon; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Bette Wilson
COLUMBIA — Memorial services for Bette F. Wilson, 87, of Columbia, will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, December 11, 2004, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia is handling arrangements.
Mrs. Wilson, widow of Ronald K. Wilson, died December 9, 2004. Born in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of the late William O. and Helen Edna Rooney Frailey, II. Formerly from Dunedin, FL, Mrs. Wilson had been a local resident for five years. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church and the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Surviving are her daughters and son-in-law, Teresa A. Bieber of Lafayette, CA, Sheila W. and Douglas Allen of Winterville, GA; son and daughter-in-law, Rigby and Carole Wilson of Columbia; brother, Gerard Frailey of Lancaster, PA; grandchildren, Jason Bieber, Sarah Bieber, Ben Wilson, Patrick Wilson, Kelsey Allen, and Mark Allen.
George Garrett
BATESBURG — Services for George Cook Garrett will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday at Zion United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mr. Garrett, 69, died December 9, 2004. Born in Prosperity, he was a son of the late Ernest T. and Sparta Nichols Garrett. He worked for Newfield Tractor Company for 28 years and retired after 12 years from Murray Tractor Company. Mr. Garrett was an Army veteran, a member of the V.F.W., was a member of Whittenburg Lutheran Church of Leesville and attended Zion United Methodist Church of Prosperity.
Surviving are his wife, Peggy Hipp Garrett; daughter, Ginger G. Furtick of West Columbia; stepsons and their wives, Kenneth and Edie Boozer and Leslie and Esther Boozer, all of Leesville; sisters, Sara Fite of Huntersville, NC, Faye Turner of Newberry and Betty (Ollie) Dominick of Prosperity; a brother, Vernon (Peggy) Garrett of Newberry; stepgrandchildren, Cain and Jill Boozer, Barret and Shelley Boozer, Heather Boozer, Robert Boozer, Anthony Boozer and Marilyn Boozer. Mr. Garrett was predeceased by a son, Gregg Garrett; sisters, Zilla Inman and Lois Rawl; brothers, John Garrett and Robert Garrett

Mrs. Gorski, wife of the late Theodore William Gorski, died Wednesday, December 8, 2004. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Sophie Lucas Cienski.

He was a native American Indian and member of San Carlos Apache Indian Reservation. Surviving are parents, Earl Bess, Leslie Yeager; sister, Teresa Honeycutt; nieces, Diane Bess, Tiffany Green; grandparents, Lester and Reba Cecil.

MARION — Services for Gracie H. Collins, 77, will be held at 11 a.m. today at Marion First United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow in Palmetto Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, directed by Richardson Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Collins died December 8, 2004, in Marion County Medical Center.
