Claire M. (Moran) Smith
Claire M. (Moran) Smith, 81, of Hardig Road, died Tuesday at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of the late James F. Smith.
Born in Providence, she was one of ten children born to the late Daniel J. and Mary E. (Dwyer) Moran.
Mrs. Smith was a Teachers Assistant for Child, Inc. of Warwick until her retirement in 1997. She was a communicant of St. Kevin Church.
She was the beloved mother of James R. Smith and his wife Carol of Warwick and Dale R. Smith and his wife Lynne of West Warwick. Caring twin sister of Dorothy Graff of Warwick. Cherished grandmother of four and great grandmother of three.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Kevin Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
Douglas Franklin Smith Jr.
Douglas Franklin Smith Jr., 49, of Casa Mesa, CA, died on June 7, 2009.
Born in South Kingstown, RI, he was the son of Douglas Franklin Smith Sr., of 9010 Daum Court, Springfield, VA and Diana T. Harvey of 21 Pat Circle, North Kingstown, RI.
He is survived by his sister Lucy Michelle Smith of 9010 Daum Court, Springfield, VA and many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Douglas attended schools in North Kingstown, RI, before moving to California. He loved the oceans and its inhabitants on both coasts and spent many happy childhood hours riding the waves and piloting his boat around the bay.

Sylvia B. (Potvin) Stamp
Sylvia B. (Potvin) Stamp, 82, of Warwick, died peacefully on August 4, 2009 at Kent Hospital. She was born in Milton, VT a daughter of the late Rudolph and Augusta (Gordon) Potvin.
Mrs. Stamp was a homemaker and a long time resident of Warwick.
She leaves behind two sons, Charles Stamp of Warwick and Keith Stamp of Coventry, three daughters, Kathryn Carignan of Warwick, Jennifer Briggs of Scituate, and Laurie Vazquez of Warwick, nine grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Arnold Potvin of Vermont and Virginia Rogers of North Carolina.
Her funeral will be Saturday, August 8, 2009 at 9:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A off I95). Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, 4:00 to 8:00 pm at the funeral home.
Louise F. (Varone) Szrom
Louise F. (Varone) Szrom, 90, of Roberts Way, formerly of Pawtucket, a homemaker, died Saturday in Roberts Health Center, North Kingstown. She was the devoted wife of the late Matthew B. Szrom.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Pasquale and Jennie (Carlone) Varone, she had lived in Pawtucket most of her life.
She was a communicant of St. Bernard Church.
She was the loving mother of Richard Szrom of Mansfield, MA, James Szrom of East Greenwich, and Judith A. Hyde of Pawtucket; the cherished sister of Angie Campbell of Sarasota, FL; the beloved grandmother of fifteen and great grandmother of nine. She was the mother of the late Donald M. and Robert K. Szrom and the sister of the late Mary Vigeant, Ida Graham, and Eleanor and Irene Varone.
Her funeral will be held Monday August 10, 2009 at 9:30 am in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 W. Main St., Wickford Village, North Kingstown, to which relatives and friends are invited. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence. Calling hours respectfully omitted. Dorothea (Salema) Ventura
Dorothea (Salema) Ventura, 83,a homemaker formerly of Main Street, died Saturday at the home of her son Stephen. She was the wife of the late Manuel J. “Mac” Ventura.
Born in West Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Antonia (Amaral) Salema.
Mrs. Ventura was a member of St. Anthony's Church, West Warwick.
She was the beloved mother of Stephen A. Ventura and Paul D. Ventura, both of West Warwick, Robert M. Ventura of Herrin, IL, and the late David J. Ventura. Loving grandmother of nine and great grandmother of six. She was the sister of the late Antonio Salema, Jr. and Aldina Vierra.
Her funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:00 am from THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Anthony's Church, Maple Avenue, West Warwick. Burial will follow in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 4-7 pm. Anastasia (Papa) Vitullo
Anastasia (Papa) Vitullo, 90, of Mayfield Avenue, Cranston, formerly of Warwick, died Thursday at home surrounded by her loving family.
She was the wife of the late Armand J. Vitullo.
Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Raffaele and Brigida (Palladino) Papa.
Mrs. Vitullo was a Hairdresser with Emile's of Paris on the East Side of Providence and owned Anne's Beauty Shoppe in Rumford before becoming a saleswoman at Jordan Marsh, Co. in the Warwick Mall for 10 years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
She was the beloved mother of Richard J. Vitullo of Cranston. Caring sister of Anthony Papa and his wife Patricia of Warwick, Roland Papa and his wife Bertha of West Warwick, Connie Palazzo and her husband Anthony of Warwick and the late Thomas, Louis, Joseph, and James Papa, Mary Xavier, Ida Osterman, and Anna D'Ambrosca. Loving aunt of many nieces, nephews and godmother of four. She received wonderful care from her caretaker Anastasia Faubert.

Warren A. Wilson
Warren A. Wilson, 88, of Ethan Street, Warwick, died July 12, 2009 at Kent Hospital.
He was the last survivor of seven siblings born to the late Ellery L. and Fanny E. (Hunt) Wilson.
Mr. Wilson was a sales representative for McKesson & Robbins, Inc. until his retirement. His great grandfather George F. Wilson was the founder of Rumford Baking Powder Co. He was a direct descendent of Roger Williams and a member of the Roger Williams Historical Society. Warren was also a member of the Nantucket Wharf Rat Club.
He was the beloved father of Jeffrey W. Wilson of Wyoming, RI and Joyce A. Wilson-Fennell of North Kingstown. Loving grandfather of Kerri A. McNamara of Wickford, Lynn A. Roach of Jamestown, and Jennifer Gordon of Hope Valley. Cherished great grandfather of seven.

June E. (Gray) Woodmansee
June E. (Gray) Woodmansee, 87, formerly of Coventry, died Tuesday at West Shore Health Center. She was the wife of the late Renauld D. Woodmansee.
Born in Malden, MA, she was a daughter of the late Walter A. and Marie E. (Provost) Gray.
Mrs. Woodmansee was an attendant for the State of Rhode Island at the M.H.R.H. in Cranston for 25 years until her retirement in 1983. She was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, R.I. Retired Employees Group Council 94, and a 7 th Degree member of Anthony Grange #51.
She was the beloved mother of James A. Woodmansee and his wife Jeanine of Warwick. Loving grandmother of Lynn P. Woodmansee. She was the sister of the late Muriel A. Bedford.
Her Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am in Tabernacle Baptist Church, 182 Seven Mile Road, Hope, RI. Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours are respectfully omitted.
