Phyllis (Johnson) Cullen
Phyllis (Johnson) Cullen, 85, of Imperial Drive, died Sunday at Sunny View Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of James J. Cullen, III.
Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Theodore A. and Emma F. (Johnson) Johnson.
Mrs. Cullen was an Executive Secretary for Verney Corp. and Bostitch Corp. for 13 years, retiring in 1975.
She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and Eastern Star Orient Chapter #31 in Framingham, MA. She was a charter member of “Women in the Arts” of Washington, D.C.
She was the loving mother of H. Allethaire Cullen of Warwick and James J. Cullen, IV of Las Vegas, NV. She was also the sister of the late C. Lucille Carlow.
Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 11:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial will follow in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Louise E. (Izzi) Cox
Louise E. (Izzi) Cox, 68, a homemaker of Natick Avenue, died Wednesday at Kent Hospital. She was the beloved wife of Loring J. Cox.
Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late Nicolas and Gelsomina (Pastore) Izzi.
Mrs. Cox was a member of St. Catherine of Siena Parish in Warwick.
She was the loving mother of James L. Cox, William J. Cox and his wife Julie, and Clordine A. Cox, all of Warwick. Cherished grandmother of Ryan, Brendon, and Christopher Cox. Caring sister of Joseph Izzi and Anthony Izzi, both of West Warwick, Angela Robinson and Rose Ramsay, both of Coventry, Susan Woodbury of Hope and the late Jennie Babak, Anna Ferraro, and Gennarino Izzi.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 8:30 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 3250 Post Road, Warwick. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, West Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Sunday 4-7 pm.
Myrtle O. (Elfstrom) Chappelle
Myrtle O. (Elfstrom) Chappelle, 92, of Coventry, died Monday at Riverview Healthcare Community, Coventry. She was the wife of the late Elmer A. Chappelle.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Helmer J. and Olga M. (Sundin) Elfstrom.
Mrs. Chappelle was an assembler for Federal Products, Inc. for 27 years until her retirement in 1979.
An artist, she received her Bachelor of Arts from Rhode Island College in 1983.
She was the beloved mother of Paul L. Chappelle of Coventry, Lawrence A. Chappelle of North Kingstown, and Sharon L. Taylor of Exeter. Loving grandmother of six and great grandmother of five. She was the sister of the late Frederick Elfstrom.
Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Relatives and friends are invited and may call Wednesday 1:00-2:00 PM. Burial will be private. Raymond G. Boucher, Sr.
Raymond G. Boucher, Sr., 73, of Williamsburg Circle, died Saturday at Kent Hospital. He was the loving and devoted husband of Patricia (Salk) Boucher.
Born in West Warwick, he was a son of the late Oliver J. and Viola J. (Vincent) Boucher.
Mr. Boucher was a Manager and Supervisor for U.P.S. for 30 years, retiring in 1991.
He was a graduate of Aldrich High School and Massanutten Military Academy.
He was a communicant of St. Francis of Assisi Church in Warwick and a former member of Kennedy Council Knights of Columbus. Active in sports, he enjoyed football, baseball, softball and golf and was an avid Red Sox fan. He also enjoyed music, especially Frank Sinatra's music, and played in the Aldrich High School Band.
He was the beloved father of Raymond G. Boucher, Jr. and his wife Rosanna of Hope Valley and step father of Alexandra Fain of Dayville, CT. Caring brother of Arthur O. Boucher and his wife Theresa of Warwick, David N. Boucher and his wife Mary of Warwick, and Paul L. Boucher and his wife Tina of Pembroke Pines, FL. Cherished grandfather of Konnor and Allie Boucher.
His funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:30 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:00 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 596 Jefferson Boulevard, Warwick. Larry Anderson
Larry Anderson, 97, of Warwick, died Thursday at Brentwood Nursing Home. He was the husband of the late Gladys (Edlund) Anderson and the late Gemma (D'Errico) Anderson.
Born in Providence, he was the oldest of six siblings born to the late Carl L. and Hilda (Larson) Anderson; he had lived in Cooper City, FL for 35 years before returning to Rhode Island 10 years ago.
A baker, Mr. Anderson was the owner and operator of Kennedy's Bakery in Conimicut.
He was the beloved father of Judith A. Elliott and her husband Richard of West Greenwich. Caring step father of Kenneth Cooke and his wife Catherine of Palm Desert, CA. Loving grandfather of Kim E. Peterson and her husband Mark of West Greenwich, Richard Elliott, III and his wife Patricia of Stoneham, MA, and Peter L. Elliott of Warwick. Cherished great grandfather of Benjamin L. Peterson and Gabriel D. Elliott.
A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Monday at 10:00 am in St. Luke's Episcopal Church, Peirce Street, East Greenwich. Burial will follow in Quidnessett Memorial Cemetery, North Kingstown. Robert Aldrich Jr.
Robert Aldrich Jr. of North Kingstown died Tuesday, June 16, 2009 after a long illness. He was born in Providence, RI on June 18, 1944.
He was a life long resident of North Kingstown. He was the son of the late Robert and Leah Aldrich and the stepson of the late Katharine Aldrich. He is survived by his son, Robert and his wife Robyn, two grandchildren and two step grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Betsey Dunley, Bethia “Penny” Geuss and a stepbrother, Alfred Maybach, Jr., all of North Kingstown and a stepsister, Katharine Earle of Lorton, VA.
He served in the U.S. Navy and was employed at Stanley-Bostitch for 28 years prior to his illness. He was also a former member of Washington Lodge #5 AF & AM. Bob was a golf enthusiast and an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed participating in a spirited political discussion.
His family would like to express their sincere appreciation for the professional and compassionate care he received from the nurses and staff at South County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for the last several years.
Relatives and friends are invited to a graveside service at Swan Point Cemetery, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence, RI on Wednesday, June 24 th at 10:00 am. Raymond H. Abbott
Raymond H. Abbott, 88, formerly of Warwick, RI, died July 25 at Golden Crest Nursing Centre, North Providence, RI. He was the husband of the late Doris M. (Robarge) Abbott.
Born in Framingham, he was the son of the late Frederick H. and Hattie F. (Hemenway) Abbott.
After graduating from Brown University in 1943 he served in the United States Army. Mr. Abbott was Vice-President and Treasurer of Universal Optical Company until his retirement.
He was a member of the Warwick Central Baptist Church and of Alpha Lodge A.F. & A.M. of Framingham.
He is survived by his daughter Linda Antonucci and her husband Raymond of Cranston, RI, his son MSGT Raymond H. Abbott, Jr., USAF and his wife Gail of Andrews AFB, Maryland, his sisters Phyllis M. Devine and Ruth C. Barlow of Framingham, 3 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Frederick H, Jr., William R., and Elaine H. Abbott.
