Beatrice P. (Riccetti) Jordan
Beatrice P. (Riccetti) Jordan, 94, of Nausauket Road, died Wednesday at Kent Hospital, Warwick.
She was the wife of the late James L. Jordan, Jr. The couple had been married 56 years at the time of his passing.
Born in Concord, NH, she was the daughter of the late Gino G. and Mary L. (Stinson) Riccetti.
Mrs. Jordan was an assembler for Leviton Mfg. Co. for 22 years before retiring in 1983.
She was the mother of James L. Jordan of Tyler, TX, Judith L. Bischoff of Flagstaff, AZ, and Deborah J. Craig of Coventry. Grandmother of five; honorary grandmother of Roger “Buddy” Silvia.
Her funeral service will be held Saturday at 4:00pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Rt. 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95).

William H. Jones
William H. Jones, 83, of Gulfport, MS, formerly of Warwick, died peacefully in Houston, TX on July 3, 2009.
He was born in Connecticut, a son of the late Amos and Marie Leah (Jasmine) Jones. He was the loving husband of the late Ida M. (Smith) Jones.
Mr. Jones was a Chief Petty Officer in the U.S. Navy for twenty years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Mississippi Elks, the American Legion, VFW, and a life member of Club Jogues and Disabled American Veterans.
He leaves behind a son, Lloyd E. Ordway of Johnston, 5 daughters, Judi E. Bloom of Houston, TX, Susan K. Lemieux of Warwick, Barbara Britain of Johnson City, TN, Beverly E. Law of West Warwick, and Nanse J. Furtado of West Warwick. He was the loving father of the late Pegi A. Merola, Patricia L. Gentry, and Shari A. Bezak. He leaves a brother, Robert N. Jones of Palm, PA. He was the brother of the late Kay Fox. Mr. Jones also leaves 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
His funeral will be held Saturday, July 11, 2009 at 9:30 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday, 4:00-8:00 pm. Interment with military honors will follow at the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
David C. Jencks, Sr.
David C. Jencks, Sr., 67, of Barber Avenue, Warwick, died Sunday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence. He was the beloved husband of Diane S. (Kennedy) Jencks.
Born in Warwick, he was a son of the late Charles E. Jencks, Sr. and Vyrie G. (Elmer) Jencks.
Mr. Jencks was a Pressman for Bostitch, Co. for many years before retiring.
He served in The United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He was an avid Patriots Fan.
He loved his grandchildren. He was the devoted father of David C. Jencks, Jr. of Warwick and Wendy J. Jencks of Rockland, ME. Loving grandfather of four. Caring brother of Charles Jencks, Jr. of Lakeland, FL, Harold Jencks of Warwick, Ronald Jencks of Providence, Sandra Hitt of Warwick, and the late Robert Jencks, Jean Dimeglio, and Mildred Pisilini.
His Memorial Service will be held Friday at 10:00 am in Warwick Central Baptist Church, 3270 Post Road, Warwick. Relatives and friends are invited. Burial will be private. Robert G. Hornik
Robert G. Hornik, 89, of Ten Rod Road, died Tuesday at home. He was the husband of the late F. Eva (Kidney) Hornik. They were married in 1943 in Wood Haven, NY.
Born in Wood Haven, NY he was a son of the late Henry W. and Emma (Hase) Hornik.
Mr. Hornik was a Production Engineer with Quonset N.A.S. for twenty five years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of Quidnessett Baptist Church and a member of The Young at Heart Club of the Church. He was a member of the National Ski Patrol and the 70 Plus Ski Club. While his children were younger he was active in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts.
He was the father of Robert L. Hornik and his wife Karen, Russell J. Hornik and his wife Jackie of Exeter and Dennis K. Hornik and his wife Wendy of North Kingstown; the brother of Anita Reichenbach of Maine; the grandfather of Kelly, Ken, Tim, Mat, Heidi and Peter; and the great grandfather of seven. He was the brother of the late Henry Hornik and the late Howard Hornik.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 11:00 am in Quidnessett Baptist Church, 6356 Post Road, North Kingstown to which relatives and friends are invited. Eric J. Holmander
Eric J. Holmander, 84, of East Greenwich, passed away at home June 19, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth C. (Jackson) Holmander for 59 years. Loving father of Sarah Joan, John D., and the late James C. Holmander.
Eric retired in 1987 from Unocal Corporation of East Providence. He was a WW II Veteran, serving in The U.S. Army from 1943 until 1946.
Born in Boston, he was the son of Maria (Abrahams) Holmander and Eric H. Holmander. He is survived by his sister Lillian Baker of Warwick. He was the brother of the late John H. Holmander and Richard L. Holmander. He is also survived by two granddaughters, five grandsons, and four great grandchildren.
Relatives and friends are invited to visitation Sunday June 21, 2009 from 5-8 pm in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Barbara Anderson Hoffman
Barbara Anderson Hoffman, 88, of Sanford, North Carolina, formerly of Warwick, a retired account executive, died peacefully at home on July 3, 2009.
She was the wife of the late Theodore F. Hoffman Sr.
She was born in Providence, RI, daughter of the late Frank J. Anderson and Blanche (Nystrom) Anderson. She is survived by her three sisters; Virginia Impagliazzo of Wakefield, Lois Berghorn of Warwick, and Shirley Siravo of Wakefield and many nieces and nephews. She leaves a daughter, Karen Bergner, of Sanford, North Carolina,; two sons, Ted Hoffman MD of Fayetteville, North Carolina and Frank J. Hoffman of Warwick; and eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Robert W. Hoffman.
A family memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 18, at 11:00 am in THE URQUAHRT - MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Rt. 5, Greenwood, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). In lieu of flowers please make donations to an animal cause of your choice. Burial will be private.
Thomas H. “Tommy” Hazel Jr.
Thomas H. “Tommy” Hazel Jr., Deputy Chief NKPD, Ret., 75, of Ten Rod Road, a life long resident of North Kingstown, died Tuesday. He was the husband of S. Joann (Busby) Hazel. They had been married for 53 years.
Born in North Kingstown, he was a son of the late Thomas H. Hazel Sr. and Maude M. (Sunderland) Hazel.
Mr. Hazel was a twenty five year veteran of The North Kingstown Police Department, retiring in 1983 with the rank of Deputy Chief of Police. He had held every rank The Department offered, including that of Acting Chief in 1976.
Mr. Hazel was a sergeant in The United States Marine Corps in The Korean War Era. He was a Master Sergeant in The Kentish Guards of East Greenwich Color Guards.
He was a former member of Washington Lodge #5 F&AM, North Kingstown, Unity Royal Arch Chapter 12, Wakefield and Cocumsussoc Order 102, Swords of Bunker Hill. He was a former Master Counselor of Washington Chapter 5 Order of Demolay. He was a fifty four year member of Quidnessett Grange #44 Patrons of Husbandry. He was a member of Quidnessett Baptist Church, a life member of The North Kingstown Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #33, and a member of The Commissioned Police Officers of Rhode Island Association.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Mark Thomas Hazel of Rochester, NY, James Evan Hazel and Terry Wayne Hazel both of North Kingstown; four granddaughters, one grandson and one great grandson.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 4-7 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 W. Main St., Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Funeral and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to a children's charity of one's choice would be appreciated.
