Hedley V. Patterson III

Hedley V. Patterson III, 85, of Woonsocket, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Joan (Cargill) Patterson.
Born in Medford, Massachusetts on January 1, 1924, he was the son of the late Hedley and Doris (Gow) Patterson.
Mr. Patterson graduated from M.I.T. in 1944 with a degree in Civil Engineering and received his Masters Degree from Northeastern University. He was City Engineer in Woonsocket for many years, retiring in 1989. During his employment for the City, he was Principal Engineer on the Flood Control Project in Woonsocket.
He was a member of the Boston Society of Civil Engineers, the RI Water Works Association, the New England Water Works Association, the RI Society of Professional Engineers (where he served as past president) as well as the Municipal Public Works Association where he also served as President in 1974-75.
He was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church, Woonsocket, an avid bird watcher and a member of the Mass. Audubon Society; He was a voracious reader, a former member of the Narragansett Council Boy Scouts of America and he became a fan of Liverpool Soccer during a summer spent bicycling in the British Isles.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son Mark Patterson and his wife Barbara of Newton, PA, his daughter, Miriam Patterson of NY, NY; his sisters, Faith MacDonald of Medford, MA, and Ruth McCarthy of Glenside, PA. He also leaves three granddaughters.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Monday at 9:30am in Sacred Heart Church, Olo Street, Woonsocket. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, W. Medford, MA. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Arrangements by O'Neill Funeral Home, Cumberland.
Theresa H. Marquis

Theresa H. Marquis, 84, of Pawtucket, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009. She was the wife of the late Ernest Marquis.
Born in Pawtucket, she was the daughter of the late Henri and Eva (Beauregard) Robillard.
Mrs. Marquis lived most of her life in Pawtucket. She enjoyed swimming, reading, and bowling.
She is survived by two daughters, Rachel Dubuque of Rumford, and Dolores Flynn of Seekonk, MA.; two sons, Ernest Marquis Jr. of Foster, and David Marquis of Lincoln; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Diana Lough.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 9am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Maria Goretti Church 155 Power Road, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Monday 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904, would be appreciated.
Vincent P. McCrystal

Vincent P. McCrystal, 81, of Rumford, passed away Monday, December 21, 2009. He was the husband of the late Eileen (McDonald) McCrystal.
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Edward and Sadie (Flanagan) McCrystal. He had lived in Rumford for over fifty years and summered in Narragansett for the last twenty six years.
Mr. McCrystal was a marine veteran of the Korean War. He graduated from Saint Raphael Academy in 1946 where he excelled in three sports, football, basketball and baseball. He was selected an All State Football player in 1945. After attending Georgetown University, he graduated from RI College in 1951 where he was a star forward on the basketball team. He was later inducted into the Rhode Island College Athletic Hall of Fame for his exploits on the basketball court.
Mr. McCrystal was a History Teacher and a Football and Basketball Coach for over two decades at Saint Raphael Academy and East Providence High School. He was inducted into the Rhode Island Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1977. Beginning in 1971 until his retirement he served as an Assistant Principal and a Principal in the Cumberland School Department. He was very active in the Saint Raphael Academy Alumni Association and he was a former member of the Gridiron Club.
He is survived by two daughters, Lynn McCrystal of Milford, CT, and Suzanne DeCourcy of Wethersfield, CT; two sons, Vincent McCrystal Jr. of Cranston, and Timothy McCrystal of Marshfield, MA, a brother, Edward McCrystal of New York City, and ten grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Rita Morton and Robert McCrystal.
The funeral will be held Monday, December 28, 2009 at 9am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Margaret Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are Sunday 4-7pm in the funeral home. Raymond Sartini

Raymond Sartini, 67, of Eisenhower Street passed away December 27, 2009 at home. He was the beloved husband of Emma (Horne) Sartini. They were happily married for 42 years.
Born in Providence he was the son of Gladys (Hotchkiss) Sartini and the late Edward Sartini Sr.
Mr. Sartini was the owner and operator of South Attleboro Welding Corp. for many years.
Besides his wife and mother he is survived by his children, David Sartini of CT, Michael Sartini of Woonsocket and Michelle Sartini of Cumberland; a grandson Tyler St. Martin also of Cumberland; two brothers, Edward Sartini Jr. and John Sartini both of Central Falls; two sisters, Sharon Lamoureux and Marilyn Dulude both of Central Falls and several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Ronald Sartini.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday 4-7pm in the O'NEILL Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Funeral and Burial will be private.
Robert F. Johnston

Robert F. Johnston, 94, of Capitol Ridge, Providence on Smith Street died on December 28, 2009. He was married to the late Minerva W. (Beach) Johnston for fifty years.
Born in Pawtucket in 1915 he was the son of George and Florence (Craik) Johnston. He was a veteran of WW II and lived for many years in Seekonk, Mass.
He is survived by his son, Alan G. Johnston of Maryland; two daughters, Carol J. Leonard of Florida and Barbara F. Johnston of North Carolina; two granddaughters, Charlene Leonard of Florida and Danielle Leonard of California and a sister, Edna Bliss of Cumberland. He was also the brother of the late Ruth E. Johnston
and James H. Johnston. A ceremony will be held at Swan Point Cemetery at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 31 st . Arrangements by the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, Pawtucket.

Joao Mourao, 90 of Greenslit Ave. passed away Thursday, December 31, 2009. He was the husband of the late Teresa (Cortez) Mourao.
Born in Portugal he was the son of the late Felix Vaz and Maria (Rodrigues) Mourao.
He is survived by his loving children, two sons, Manuel Mourao of Pawtucket and Serafim Mourao of Portugal; three daughters, Rosa Cascalheira, Maria Ribeiro and Maria Helena Costa, all of Pawtucket; ten grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren.
Funeral and Burial will take place in Portugal. Visiting hours 4-7pm Tuesday in the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket.

Louis S. Marsella, S, 85 passed away January 1, 2010.
Born in Providence he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Comella) Marsella.
He is survived by his loving children, a son, Joseph S. Marsella of Florida and Joanne Marsella-Izzo of Cranston; five grandchildren, Joanna M. Izzo, Carlo J. Izzo Jr., both of Hope, Michael Marsella of Coventry, Joseph S. Marsella of Florida and Crystal Marsella of Cranston; two great grandchildren, Joseph Marsella of Cranston and Joseph Marsella of Johnston and a brother Lawrence Marsella of Johnston. He was also the brother of the late Salvatore J. Marsella.
A Service will be held Wednesday, January 6, 2010 at 10am in the HOEY-ARPIN-WILLIAMS-KING Funeral Home, 168 Academy Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-7.
