Dante Susi

Dante Susi, 90, of Cumberland, passed away Friday, October 16, 2009. He was the husband of A. Lucille (Mason) Susi.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Panfilo and Maria (Maiorano) Susi.
Mr. Susi was an army veteran of World War II. He owned and operated Dan's Village Restaurant in Lincoln, retiring in 1986.
He was a 4 th degree Knight, Knights of Columbus, St. Anthony Council, Providence. He was also a member of the VFW, Post 2274, Cumberland.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Patricia Allard of Attleboro, MA, a son, Retired Cumberland Hill Fire Chief, Richard Susi and his wife Holly of Cumberland, a brother, Melvin Susi of Providence, five grandchildren, Jason Allard, Stacey Beal, Alan, Stephanie, and Stephen Susi. He was the brother of the late Sarah Micarelli, Elda Capece, Concetta, Gaetano, Anthony, and Frank Susi.
The funeral will be held Wednesday, October 21, 2009 at 9am from the O'NEILL Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road (Rte 122), Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Tuesday, 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Association, 245 Waterman Street, Providence, RI, 02906, would be appreciated.

Beverly J., (Camera) Beaumont, 72, of Berkshire Place, Providence died Friday, October 16, 2009 in Berkshire Place. She was the wife of the late James Beaumont.
Born in Dighton, Mass, she was a daughter of the late George and Avis (Horton) Camera. Mrs. Beaumont lived several years in the Charlesgate Apartments where she was very happy and had many friends. She worked for various jewelry companies in her career.
Beverly was a loving mother and grandmother as well as friend to everyone. She leaves 8 children: James Keenan of East Providence, John Keenan of Warwick, Joseph Keenan of North Providence, Kenneth Keenan of Cranston, Keith Keenan of Providence, Cheryl LaBonte of Providence, Laurie Keenan of Norfolk, VA, and Brenda Keenan of Providence, also 24 Grandchildren and 12 Great-grandchildren.
Relatives and Friends are invited to visit Monday, October l9th in the Hoey-Arpin-Williams-King Funeral Home, 168 Academy Avenue, Providence, from 9 – 10:30 am Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Blessed Sacrament Church, Academy Avenue at ll am. Her Burial will be private.
Maria Barata

Maria Barata, 77, of Pawtucket, passed away Sunday, October 18, 2009. She was the wife of the late Teofilo Barata.
Born in Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Casantrum and Maria (Consasun) Perreira. Mrs. Barata had lived most of her life in Pawtucket.
She was a machinist for American Insulated Wire for twenty one years, retiring in 1996.
She is survived by three daughters, Rose Champagne of West Warwick, Maria Lomax of Johnston, and Sue Reis of Pawtucket; two sons, Teofilo Barata of Rehoboth, MA, and Richard Barata of Pawtucket; three sisters, Maria, Gloria, and Rose Perreira, all of Portugal, ten grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Teresa Church, Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Thursday 4-8pm.
Mary A. (Fitzpatrick) Chamberlin

Mary A. (Fitzpatrick) Chamberlin, 91, formerly of Cumberland, passed away October 19, 2009 at the home of her daughter, Maureen F. Plumleigh, in Old Lyme, Connecticut. She was the wife of the late Warren E. Chamberlin and the daughter of the late Richard and Margaret (Farrell) Fitzpatrick.
In addition to her daughter Maureen, she is survived by another daughter, Kathleen A. Feeney of Cumberland and a son, Richard M. Chamberlin of South Weymouth, MA. She also leaves one granddaughter, Karissa L. Williams of Fairfield, CT, three beautiful great-granddaughters: Lily, Ella and Flora Williams, also of Fairfield, CT, and her twin sister, Emily F. Wahl, of South Kingstown, RI.
Mary was born in and lived in Woonsocket for many years before moving to Cumberland in 1989. In 2007 she moved to her daughter's home in CT, where she spent many happy days involved in family activities.
She also enjoyed dining out at her favorite restaurants, reading her much loved newspapers and magazines – the Woonsocket Call, Valley Breeze, and RI Monthly – and watching Wheel of Fortune and Lawrence Welk.
Mary and her husband also owned a summer home at Sand Hill Cove in Narragansett and spent every summer there for two decades. In 1934, as juniors at Woonsocket High School, Mary and her twin were two of the founding members of the Sigma Delta, a sorority originally formed to socialize and play bridge while fostering friendships that have lasted a lifetime. Her other favorite activities in younger days were roller skating at Misquamicut beach, line dancing, and swimming, especially at their Sand Hill Cove summer home.
Mary graduated from Hill College in 1937 and worked at the Woonsocket Call for many years as personal secretary to the publisher. It was at The Call that she met her husband; she eventually retired from the newspaper to raise their family.
The funeral will be held Friday at 9:30am from the O'NEILL Funeral Home, 3102 Mendon Road, Cumberland, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Saint Charles Church, North Main Street, Woonsocket. Burial will be in Saint Charles Cemetery, Blackstone, MA. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Thursday 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary's name to Hospice of Southeastern Connecticut, 227 Dunham St, Norwich, CT, 06360 will help their outstanding nurses, home health aides and volunteers continue to provide the excellent and loving care to others that was so vital to Mary and her care-givers in their hours of need.
Norman Mercier

Norman Mercier, 78, formerly of Pawtucket passed away Saturday, October 24th. He was the husband of Gail (Sherman) Mercier. Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Norman and Fedora (Laliberte) Mercier.
Norman was a son, a brother, a father and he had a passion for racing. Norman was a Jockey. Norman's riding career started when he was only 19 years old with his first win in 1951 on Ranch House at Gulfstream Park. Norman or "Stormin' Norman" some called him went on to have a stellar career. Among his long list of achievements was the track record of 1:35.2/5 for the mile at Suffolk Downs, a record that stood for 30 years. He was Vice President of the Jockey's Guild from 1966 to 1980. His riding career which expanded 5 decades with 21,262 mounts and 2,769 trips to the winners circle. In 1990 he had 6 trips to the winners circle before his retirement.
Besides his wife he is survived by two sons, Gerald Mercier of Smithfield and Scott Mercier of Maui, Hawaii and two brothers, Walter Mercier of Wareham, MA and Joseph Mercier of South Yarmouth, MA. He was also the brother of the late Russell Mercier. Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial, Thursday, Oct. 29th at 10am at St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket. Burial will be private. Arrangements by the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, Pawtucket.
Raymond G. Goyette

Raymond G. Goyette, 89, of Pawtucket, passed away Sunday, October 25, 2009. He was the husband of Ruth (Kelley) Goyette. They were happily married for 59 years and would have been married for 60 years on October 29 th .
Born in Pawtucket, he was the son of the late Hormidas and Leda (Guenet) Goyette.
Mr. Goyette was a navy veteran of World War II, serving on a Sub Chaser in the North Atlantic as a first class petty officer.
He was a Truck Driver for Eastern Refractory then worked as a letter carrier for US Post Office in Pawtucket for twenty eight years, retiring in 1979.
He was a communicant of Saint Teresa Church, A member of DAV, the American Legion, Post #10, Riverside, a charter member of the Elks and PER, E. Providence, #2337, a member of the Tri-City Elks, Lodge #14, Warwick, Knights of Columbus, Pope John Council, E. Providence, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Raymond Goyette Jr. and his wife Anne Marie of Pawtucket, his daughter, Diane Vincent and her husband Arthur of Rumford, many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Beartrice Trottier, Charles, Roland, Raoul, Richard, Laurent, and Herve Goyette.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in Saint Teresa Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Visiting hours Tuesday 5-8pm in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. In lieu of flowers, donations to San Miguel School, 12 Carter Street, Providence, RI, 02907, would be appreciated.

Elizabeth M. (Labonte) England, 96, formerly of Mongenais St., Providence, died Wednesday, October 28, 2009.
She was the wife of the late Theodore L. England and the daughter of the late Emile and Alexina (Dionne) Labonte. Mrs. England leaves 2 daughters, Pauline T. Gravier-Medeiros of E. Providence and Clarisse A. England-Lazos of Warwick; 4 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was the sister of Rev. Adelard J. Labonte S.D.B of NJ and Antoinette Vacca of VA. She was also the sister of the late Gerard and Roger Labonte, Alice Jutras, Maria Vanasse, Therese St. Germaine, Bella Lavoie and Sr. Blandine Labonte.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:30 am from the HOEY-ARPIN-WILLIAMS-KING Funeral Home, 168 Academy Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Atwells Ave. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Sunday 4-8 pm.
