Capt. David R. Montgomery, USN (Ret)

Capt. David R. Montgomery, USN (Ret), 70, of Cumberland and formerly of Connecticut, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2009, following a brief illness. He was the husband of Susan (Henderson) Montgomery.
Born in Hastings, Nebraska, he was the son of the late David and Ruth (Spencer) Montgomery.
Capt. Montgomery was a 1960 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and served in the submarine service for thirty years, retiring in 1990.
Besides his wife, he is survived by three sons, Stephen Montgomery of Long Island, New York, Jonathan Montgomery of Hoover, Alabama, and Daniel Montgomery of Mystic, Connecticut; three daughters, Margaret Lobo of Franklin, Massachusetts, Melanie Kwok of Huntsville, Alabama, and Marietta Montgomery of Cumberland. He also leaves six grandchildren.
A Service will be held July 2nd at 11:00 AM in Saint John's Episcopal Church, 237 Pleasant Street, Franklin, MA. Burial with Military Honors will be held at a later date in RI Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, donations to Saint John's Episcopal Church, 237 Pleasant St., Franklin, MA 02038 would be appreciated. Arrangements by O'Neill Funeral Home, Cumberland.
Samifakhry Guirgis

Samifakhry Guirgis, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2009 in New London, Connecticut.
He was the husband of Alice (Aziz) Guirgis.
Born in Egypt, he was the son of the late Awadalla and Louiza (Shenouda) Guirgis.
Mr. Guirgis was a School Teacher for many years before retiring.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his son, Nader Samifakhry Awadalla of Pawcatuck, Connecticut and his daughter, Diana Wahba of E. Hartford, a sister, Claire Awadalla and a brother, Elhamy Awadalla, both of Egypt.
A Service will be held Thursday, July 9, 2009 at 11am in Saint Mary & Saint Mena Coptic Orthodox Church,
8 Pendleton Street, Cranston, RI. Burial will be in Walnut Hill Cemetery, Pawtucket, RI.
John J. Egan, Jr.

John J. Egan, Jr., 81, of Manchester, New Hampshire and formerly of Pawtucket and North Providence, RI, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2009.
He was the husband of the late Beatrice (Bessette) Egan.
Born in Central Falls, RI, he was the son of the late John and Veronica (Hopkins) Egan. Mr. Egan was a sales executive for several years before retiring.
He is survived by three sons, John Egan III of Boston, MA, Michael Egan of Colchester, CT, and Timothy Egan of Peachtree, GA, a daughter, Maureen Egan Gamblin of Manchester, NH, a brother, Paul Egan of North Providence, RI, and ten grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Brian and Pat Egan.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 9am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, RI, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Joseph Church, 193 Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Burial will be in RI Veteran's Cemetery, Exeter, RI. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Monday 5:30-8:30pm.

Henry L. Atkins

Henry L. Atkins, 89, of Pawtucket, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009. He was the husband of Cecile (Plante) Atkins and the late Loretta (McGarrity) Atkins.
Born in Seekonk, MA, he was son of the late Louis and Eleanor (Leclair) Atkins. He had lived most of his life in Pawtucket.
He worked at Quonset Point in North Kingstown for thirty years. He later worked the City of Pawtucket Highway Department before his retirement.
He was an army veteran of WWII, serving over three years in Africa and Sicily under Patton, which he received the Purple Heart. He also served in Normandy.
He was a graduate of Pawtucket High School, where he was an avid basketball player. He also played amateur basketball.
He was a baseball coach for the Pineview Little League. He was a volunteer for the food bank, he was a member of the American Legion Post, and he was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Besides his wife, he is survived by a son, William Atkins of Colorado, a daughter, Donna Simon of North Providence, and he was the father of the late Kevin Atkins. He also leaves eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Eleanor Vincent, Pauline Smith, Paul and Maurice Atkins.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 9am in Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Joseph Church, 195 Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Friday 5-8pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice Care of RI, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI, 02904, would be appreciated.
Americo “Rico” DonFrancesco

Americo “Rico” DonFrancesco, 87, died peacefully Tuesday, July 28, 2009. He was the beloved husband of Lucile (Rochon) DonFrancesco. Rico and Lucile would have celebrated their 59 th wedding anniversary in October.
Throughout his married life, Rico was a loving husband and a wonderful father to his family. He always lived a life of dignity, integrity and honesty, serving as a steadfast role model to his children.
Born in Providence he was the son of the late Antonio and Maria (Bianco) DonFrancesco. Rico served in the US Navy during WWII, graduated from Bryant College in 1950, and for more than 30 years, was a Sales Manager for Metropolitan Insurance. Rico was a trustee of St. Joan of Arc Church in Cumberland, a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Equestrian Order of Sepulchre.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his children, Edward DonFrancesco and wife, Susan, of MN, Linda Dubois and husband, Dennis, of Cumberland, Bob DonFrancesco and wife, Val, of Narragansett, John DonFrancesco and wife, Eileen, of AZ, Lisa DonFrancesco of Wellesley Hills, MA, Lori Haggstrom, and Ann Gallagher and husband, Tom, all of Narragansett; 21 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren and his sister, Lena Anzevino and husband, Fred, of Cranston. He was also the father of the late James and Alan DonFrancesco and the brother of the late Silvio and Alfred DonFrancesco.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated Friday at 10am in St. Joan of Arc Church, 3357 Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted. Mary E. (Lemon) Kelley

Mary E. (Lemon) Kelley, 87, passed away Friday, July 31, 2009 surrounded by her family at Golden Crest Nursing Home, North Providence. She was the loving wife of Joseph P. Kelley (a retired Pawtucket School teacher).
Born in Canada she was the daughter of the late James and Janet (Stanley) Lemon.
Mrs. Kelley worked in the payroll department at the New York Lace Store in the late sixties. She also worked as an aide in both the Pawtucket and Cumberland lunch programs for many years.
Besides her husband she is survived by two daughters, Maureen J. LaPorte of North Providence and Nancy Kelley of Pawtucket; a son Timothy J. Kelley and his wife, Cathy, of East Providence; four grandchildren, Nicole Lemire of Pawtucket, Jenifer Lemire of North Providence, Michaela Kelley of East Providence and Tara Reynolds of Pawtucket. She also leaves a great grandson, Davon Lopes of North Providence and a sister, Dorothy Kenney of Rumford. She was predeceased by her son-in-law, George A. LaPorte.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Leo the Great Church, 699 Central Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visiting hours are Tuesday 5-8.
