Anna (Smolan) McQuesten
April 7, 2007
Anna McQuesten (Smolan), 58, of Summer Street, Manville, died Saturday, April 7, 2007 peacefully at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late George E. McQuesten.
Born in Austria, she was the daughter of the late Wladimir and Ustina (Guz) Smolan. Mrs. McQuesten was a lifelong resident of Manville.
A very spiritual woman who was limited physically, she was able to practice her faith at home. She was an excellent student, earning honors and accolades throughout primary education.
She worked as a certified nursing assistant at the Friendly Nursing Home. After several years Anna applied and was accepted to the prestigious Nursing Program offered through CCRI.
Her early transcripts from the institution affirmed a heavenly calling to provide care for those among us whom suffer most. Anna trained hundreds of CNAs. Her insistence that trainees care for the infirm as though each “were our very own parents” amazed many and deterred the less committed from further nursing pursuits.
Her devotion as a mother to her sons superseded her personal goals, dreams and ambitions.
She is survived by Michael McQuesten of Woonsocket and Timothy McQuesten of Warwick, two brothers Jan Smolan and Victor Smolan, and a sister Luba Green of all of Lincoln.
