Cumberland - Joao Oliveira, 62, of Hope Street, passed away Friday, April 18 in New England Medical Center, Boston. He was the husband of Maria L. (Gomes ) Oliveira.
Born in Portugal, he was the son of the late Joao and Laura (do Carmo) Oliveira. He resided in Cumberland for 31 years.
He was a Communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Cumberland.
He leaves a daughter, Suzy Melo and son-in-law, Steven of Bristol, four brothers, Antonio Oliveira, and Jose Oliveira both of Portugal, Manuel Oliveira and Carlos Oliveira both of Cumberland; two sisters, Nazare Teles and Gondina Silva both of Portugal. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held Tuesday, April 22, at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive, Cumberland.. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling Hours will be held from 5-8 PM, Monday, April 21.

Margarida V. Leitao
Aug. 12, 1920 - April 15, 2008
Pawtucket - Margarida V. Leitao, 87 of Hanover Avenue, formerly of Cumberland, died Tuesday, in Home and Hospice Care of RI. She was the wife of the late Joseph Leitao
Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, She was the daughter of the late Jose Matos Violante and the late Rosaria Violante. She resided in Cumberland and previously Milford, MA.
She was employed by the Milford Shoe Company for many years, retiring in 1985.
She leaves her two sons, Telmo "Ted" Leitao of Pawtucket, Victor V. Leitao of Capetown, South Africa; three brothers, Manuel Violante of France, Jose Violante, and John Violante, both of Portugal. She also leaves three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Maria Pixao and Henrique Violante.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 19, at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling Hours will be held from 4-8 PM Friday, April 18.

Estelle M. Plante
1922-2008
Cumberland - Estelle M. (Ouellette) Plante, 85 of One Medon Road, formerly of Ryan Avenue. passed away Monday, in the Woonsocket Health Center, Woonsocket.
Born in Amesbury, MA, She was the daughter of the late Ludger and Bridget (Proulx) Ouellette. She resided in Cumberland for most of her life
She was employed by the Owens Corning Fiberglass Co for 10 years, retiring in 1984.
She was a Communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church for many years..
She leaves her four daughters, Yvonne Smith, Louise Savard both of Cumberland, RI, Gail Vargas of Coventry, RI, Donna Brown of Granville, NY; one son, Gerry Plante of Cumberland; one brother, Norbert Ouellette and one sister, Louise Marquis both of Amesbury, MA. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frederick Ouellette, Francis Ouellette, Henry Ouellette and Rita Bryant. She was the great-grandmother of the late Jacob Smith.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 12, at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery.

Elizabeth M. Butler
May 9, 1926 - April 7, 2008
NORTH SMITHFIELD - Elizabeth M. (Gunville) Butler, 81, of North Smithfield, R.I. died peacefully on Monday, April 7, 2008 in her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves her husband of 60 years, Atty. John J. Butler of North Smithfield, R.I; eight children; Sean F. Butler of North Smithfield R.I, Elizabeth A. Butler of Roseville Ca.; Kathleen M. Longano and husband John of Victoria, Australia; Kevin C. and wife Linda-Jo Butler of Uxbridge, Ma; Brian D. Butler of Uxbridge, Ma; Michael B. and wife Michelle Butler of Weymouth, Ma; James M. Butler of Taunton, Ma; and Julie B. Butler of Lincoln, R.I.; she is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Michael, Julie Anne and Emily Longano of Victoria, Australia; Matthew Butler of Uxbridge; Christine and Rachel Butler of Uxbridge; Jeremy and Meghan Butler of Weymouth.
She was born in East Weymouth, Ma, the daughter of Louis B. Gunville, and Elizabeth (Klinges) Gunville and was a graduate of the 1947 Carney School of Nursing, Boston,Mass. Mrs. Butler worked for many years as a licensed registered nurse, retiring her career at the at Veterans Administration Hospital, Providence, R.I. in 1982. Mrs. Butler enjoyed painting, gardening, playing the organ, her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 12th at 9 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in the St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery, Uxbridge, MA.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling Hours will be held Friday, April 11th, 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or The Home and Hospice Care of Rhode Island, 169 George St. Pawtucket, R.I. 02860.

Antonio M.Coelho
1938 - 2008
Central Falls - Antonio M. Coelho, 69, of Broad St. died Tuesday in the Philip Houlitar Center, Providence. He was the husband of Maria (Cardoso) Coelho.
Born in Gouveia, Portugal he was the son of the late Antonio M. and Bertolina (Mendes) Coelho. He came to this country in 1995 settling in Central Falls.
He had been employed by the American Insulated Wire Corp for 13 years retiring in 2005.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Cristina Freitas of Cumberland and Rosa A. Mesquita of Portugal. Three grandchildren, Catarina Mesquita in Portugal, Emma and Ana Freitas of Cumberland. He also leaves a brother and sister in Portugal.
His funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive., Cumberland. Burial will be private.

Anne Rausch
1913 - 2008
CUMBERLAND - Anne (Lucidi) Rausch, 94 of Diamond Hill Road passed away Monday in Oak Hill Nursing Home, Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late Bertholdt Rausch.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Maria (Eulara) Lucidi. She resided in Cumberland for the past 59 years.
She was a communicant of St. Aidan Church, Cumberland.
She is survived by her daughter Carol-Ann Rausch of Cumberland and her son Bob Rausch of Monterey, MA, one brother Frank Lucidi of Providence and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Caroline Costabile, Samuel Lucidi and Anthony Lucidi.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.

Mary Cecile Geddes
1922 - 2008
CUMBERLAND - Mary Cecile Geddes, 85, died peacefully surrounded by her family. Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Clavin) Byron. She resided most of her life in Cumberland.
She was the wife of the late Frank C. Geddes.
She was a graduate of Hope High School, St. Joseph School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse for the Visiting Nurses Service, Providence, Woonsocket Hospital and the Grandview Nursing Center, Cumberland.
She advocated for the developmentally disabled, as President of the Northern RI ARC. Mrs. Geddes also loved family events, sewing, crafts and gardening. She had been active in the Mercymount Mothers Club, Girl Scouts, CHS Football Mothers Club and St. Joseph Church Women's Club.
She has five children, Kathleen Darby and her husband John and Rosemary Crozier and her husband Robert both of Cumberland, Bernadette Andrews and her husband Edward of Lincoln, Robert Geddes and his wife Janice of Cumberland and John Geddes of Woonsocket. She also leaves eight grandchildren. She also leaves four special friends, Mary Barrett, Helen James, Rose White, and Sheila Zuhusky. She was the sister of the late Robert Byron.
Her funeral will be held Thursday with at Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.
Calling hours are respectfully omitted. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Homestead Group/Ida Lane Fund, 68 Cumberland St., Suite 200, Woonsocket, RI 02895.

Charles A. "Windy" Brouillette
1938 - 2008
CUMBERLAND - Charles A. "Windy" Brouillette, 69, formerly of Cumberland died Saturday in the Woonsocket Health Center.
Born in Cumberland he was the son of the late Eugene and Rose (Archambault) Brouillette. He resided in Cumberland most of his life.
He was a franchise owner of an Arnold's Bread route for fifteen years retiring in 2001. He was previously a distributor for the Coca Cola Bottling Co.
He was a U. S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by a cousin, Pauline Pariseau Micek of Peoria, AZ and his former wife, Lucinda Curtis of Woonsocket. He also leaves many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Calling hours and funeral services will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 9 p.m. with services at 8 p.m. Burial will be private.

Gerard Frappier
1923 - 2008
Woonsocket - Gerard Frappier, 85, of 1195 Park Ave., Woonsocket passed away Monday in the Philip Hulitar Center. He was the husband of Theresa (Paris) Frappier.
Born in Canada, he was the son of the late Joseph Frappier. He resided in Woonsocket most of his life.
He was employed by the Glasscraft Corp., North Smithfield for many years, retiring in 1984.
He was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, Woonsocket.
Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Gerard Frappier of Norwood, NC, Robert Frappier of Atlanta, GA, Donald Frappier of Cumberland; 2 sisters, Sister Elizabeth Frappier of St. Hyacinthe, Canada, Theresa Frappier of North Smithfield; Six grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late David Frappier.
He funeral will be held Thursday, at 8 AM from the J. J. DUFFY FUNERAL HOME, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church, 1409 Park Ave., Woonsocket. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Thursday morning from 8 to 9:20 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Home & Hospice Care of RI, 169 George St., Pawtucket, RI 02860.
