John F. McDermott
1948 - 2007
CUMBERLAND - John F. McDermott, 59, of Cushing Street, passed away Friday at home.
Born in Providence he was the son of Lillian McDermott of Cumberland, and the late John J. McDermott. He resided in Cumberland for the past 5 years, previously residing in Minnesota.
He was employed as a maintenance worker for the CertainTeed Company of Walpole, MA for the past 5 years.
Mr. McDermott was a United States Army, Vietnam Veteran.
Besides his mother, he leaves two sons, Jason McDermott, and John David McDermott, both of Georgia; two brothers, Joseph McDermott, and James McDermott, both of Pawtucket; four sisters, Barbara Ditano, Patricia Ramage, both of Cumberland, Kathy Ring of Lincoln, and Dolores Boudreau of Warwick; and several nieces and nephews.
His funeral service with military honors will be held Monday at 11 AM in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial will be private. Relatives and Friends are kindly invited. Calling Hours will be held Sunday, 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Sharon M. Bliss
1948 - 2007
Cumberland - Sharon M. Bliss, 59, of Hewes St. died Saturday. Born in Pawtucket she was a daughter of the late Thomas J. and Albina (Bak) Bliss. She was a life long Cumberland resident.
She was employed by the Osram Sylvania Corp., Central Falls for thirty seven years until her retirement a few years ago.
She leaves one brother, Jerome Bliss of Providence and a sister, Mary Ann Clarius of Warwick and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Thomas and Joseph Bliss.
Her funeral will be held Friday with services at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.

Alice R. Szpila
1921 - 2007
Cumberland - Alice R. Szpila, 85 of Angell Road passed away Saturday in Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of the late Stephen P. Szpila.
Born in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Exina M. (Chabot) Ouellette. She was a lifelong resident of Cumberland.
She was a communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church, Cumberland.
She leaves one sister Ida Joly of Cumberland and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 AM from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home 757 Mendon Road Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 AM in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road Cumberland. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cumberland.

Richard J. Wahl
1950 - 2007
Pawtucket - Richard J. Wahl, 56, of Chestnut St. died Monday in the Roger Williams Hospital, Providence.
Born in Pawtucket he was the son of Hilda (Gonzalez) Wahl with whom he made his home and the late John Wahl.
He was employed by the Texas Instruments Corp., Attleboro for many years until his retirement. He was previously employed by the former Health Tex Corp., Central Falls and Cumberland for many years.
Besides his mother he leaves four aunts, Rosalie Gagnon of Pascoag, Jane Carol Austin of Massachusetts, Josephine Craveiro of Johnston, Esmeralda Sousa of Cumberland and many cousins. He was also the nephew of the late Theresa Wahl.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Dr., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.

Maria Aleixo
1916 - 2007
Cumberland - Maria Aleixo, 90, of Chambers St. died Thursday in the Grandview Nursing Center, Cumberland. She was the beloved wife of the late Antonio N. Aleixo. She was also a loving and generous mother, grandmother and friend.
Born in Guarda, Portugal she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Juliana (Pires) Santos. She came to this country at the age of eight settling in Cumberland.
She and her husband operated the Central Oil Co., Cumberland for 60 years until their retirement.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a member of the St. Patrick Seniors.
She leaves a son, Antonio N. Aleixo of Wilmington, DE, two daughters Lidia Dennen of Cumberland and Lucilia Squadrito of Scituate. She also leaves six grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Noberto Santos, Fausto Santos and Adozinda Gloria.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Dr., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.

Mary A. (Conroy) Kelley

Cumberland - Mary A. Kelley, 80, of 200 Heroux Blvd. died Thursday in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. She was the wife of John J. Kelley.
Born in Cambridge, MA she was the daughter of the late John and Ann (Caroll) Conroy. She resided in Cumberland for the past fifteen years.
She was employed by the Northrup Corp., Norwood, MA for thirty one years retiring in 1992.
Besides her husband she leaves a son John H. and wife Elaine Petrolini of Westwood, MA, step children John J. and wife Karen Kelley of Mansfield and Janet and husband Ronald Clarke of Cumberland. A sister, Ann Marie and husband James Owens of Maynard, MA. She also leaves seven grandchildren and a great grandchild.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

Everett H. Newbegin

Cumberland - Everett H. Newbegin, 90 of Thomas Dr. died Wednesday in the Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Spence) Newbegin.
Born in Portland, ME he was the son of the late George and Lillian (Reuss) Newbegin. He resided in Cumberland for the past twenty eight years.
He was a Project Engineer and had worked in the textile industry for many years until his retirement.
He was a member of the Four Corners Community Chapel, Cumberland and was a Mason and member of the Golden Fleece Lodge, Lynn, MA and was the former High Priest of the St. Elmo Chapter R.A.M., Millbury, MA.
He leaves two daughters, Carol Sword of Marietta, GA and Nancy Grabowski of Newtown, CT. He also leaves three grandchildren, Jason Sword of Indian Trail, NC, Heidi Lambert of Acworth, GA and Amy Grabowski of Newtown, CT and three great grandchildren.

Alwine S. Pincus

Lincoln - Alwine S. Pincus, 57 of River Rd. died Friday at home. She was the wife of Robert Pincus.
Born in Germany she was the daughter of the late August and Marianna Goldschald. She resided in Lincoln for the past 1 1/2 years previously residing in Kenosha, WI.
She was a Greyhound Adoption Coordinator for the Dairyland Greyhound Park in Kenosha for seven years until her retirement in 2005.
Besides her husband she leaves three daughters, Sarah Pincus, Rebecca Pincus both of Lincoln and Michelle Marriott of Smithfield. One son, Robert Marriott III of Marion, AR. One sister, Isolde Vogt and two brothers, Christophe and Michael Goldschald all of Frankfort, Germany. She also leaves one granddaughter.
Mary D. "Dot" Murray
1914 - 2007
Pawtucket - Mary D. "Dot" Murray, 93, of Ferncrest Dr. died Saturday in the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Charles A. Murray.
Born in Providence she was the daughter of the late James and Mary I. (Holihen) Kane. She resided in Pawtucket for over fifty years.
Mrs. Murray was a 1936 graduate of the former R.I.C.E., now Rhode Island College and was a first grade teacher with the Providence School Department for over thirty years, retiring from the Sisson Street School.
She was a communicant of St. Teresa Church, Pawtucket and was a member of the church Mothers Club and Seniors Club. She was also a member of the Leon Matthieu Senior Center. She was a volunteer at the Women & Infant's Hospital, Providence.
She was the beloved mother of Susan Haley and her husband Charles and Kathryn Marandola and her husband Arthur. She also leaves five grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the J. J. DUFFY FUNERAL HOME, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket.
