NICHOLAS STARINOVICH
Nicholas Starinovich, 81, of Brightman Way, Westerly, formerly of Windsor Locks, Conn. entered into eternal rest on Monday, Aug. 4, 2003, at The Westerly Hospital.
Born and raised in Hartford, son of the late Alexander and Eliana (Honchar) Starinovich, he served in the Marine Corps during World War II. Nick had been employed at American Cam Co. in Hartford and Farmington before his retirement in 1980. Early in life, he learned to hunt and fish, first in freshwater and later in saltwater. He spent weekends at the Rhode Island shores, and after retirement he moved to Westerly and enjoyed 23 good years of fishing, lobstering and deer hunting.
He lived with his wife, the late Helen M. (Sartori) Starinovich in Windsor Locks and later Westerly until she died in 1990. He had been the loving companion of Rita Hofmann since 1995. Rita lovingly cared for him during his illness.
He is survived by two sisters, Mary Stewart of East Hartford and Kay Cipola of South Windsor; two sisters-in-law, Rena Starinovich and Linda Sartori; and a brother-in-law, John Sartori, all of Windsor Locks; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, John and William Starinovich; and a sister, Sophia Hepp.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. at the Windsor Locks Funeral Home, 441 Spring St., Windsor Locks. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Windsor Locks. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
JOAN F. MAGUIRE
Joan F. Maguire of Hope Valley, a retired Westerly Schools teacher, formerly of Hyde Park and Dorchester, Mass., died July 31, 2003.
The beloved sister of Francis and his wife Renee D. Ziegner of Buzzards Bay, she is also survived by many cousins.
The funeral will be Wednesday, Aug. 6, at 9 a.m. from the F.J. Higgins Funeral Home, 4236 Washington St., Roslindale Square, Roslindale, Mass., with a Funeral Mass in St. Joseph's Church, Wood Avenue, Hyde Park, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours today are from 4 to 8 p.m. with parking behind the funeral home on Cummins Highway.
FRANCES M. BERUBE
Frances M. (Ingham) Berube, 86, beloved wife of 59 years of George C. Berube of South Broad Street, Pawcatuck, formerly of Green Hill Beach, died Aug. 3, 2003, at the Pendleton in Mystic.
Mrs. Berube was born in Westerly, daughter of the late John P. and Fannie Ingham. She had been employed as a bus driver for 15 years by the Westerly School System before her retirement in 1979.
She was a member of the Westerly T.O.P.S., an avid line dancer, made crafts at the Rhode Island Council of Homemakers, made many quilts and teddy bears, was an avid Scrabble player and volunteered at the Pawcatuck Neighborhood Center where she visited the area's shut-ins.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, John Babcock of Stonington; a daughter, Nina Karash of West Halifax, Vt.; 13 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by two sons, Edward L. Babcock and George D. Berube; a brother, John Ingham; a sister, Anna Mabelle Burbine; and a granddaughter, Leah Babcock.
Calling hours are omitted. A memorial service will be held Thursday at 6 p.m. in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

MARY WEEKS MACLEAN
Mary Weeks MacLean, 59, of 24 Whitehall Landing, Mystic, and Flushing, N.Y., died Monday morning, Aug. 4, 2003, at W.W. Backus Hospital in Norwich after a brief illness.
She was the wife of the late Dougald Lachlan MacLean.
Service arrangements will be announced late today at www.dinotofuneral.com and in Wednesday's edition of local papers.

CLARISSA ROSE PRIORE
On Sunday, Oct. 5, 2003, Clarissa "Rissa" Rose Priore, of Westerly, daughter of Lauren E. Priore, passed on surrounded by friends and family in the loving arms of her mother.
Clarissa was born on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 2003, at Women and Infants' Hospital. During her short stay here on earth, she was loved and cared for by all those who came to get to know her. She overcame many odds to be able to extend her stay here and will be sadly missed by many. Ms. Clarissa enjoyed playing with her mom and the many visits from nurses and friends. She was and will always be known for her courage and strength. Ms. Clarissa was an angel on earth while her mother watched over her, and now in heaven an angel watching over all who loved and cared for her.
Ms. Clarissa is survived by her brother, Cody Ryan Priore; her aunt Cassi Ploughman; her special friends, Micah Strode and "Aunt" Barbara Gallagher; godmother Philomena Perrone; and "stand-in" godmother, Rose Vocatura; grandparents, Joyce Priore and Joseph Ploughman; and several other family members.
Services will be held at Christ Church, Westerly, on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Private burial will be in River Bend Cemetery where she will be placed in peace for eternity with her great-grandparents.
Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly, is in charge of arrangements.
RICHARD E. HILTON
Richard E. Hilton, 72, of 206 Charlestown Beach Road, Charlestown, a retired computer-systems analyst, longtime firefighter and town councilman, died Saturday, Oct. 4, 2003, at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Shirley (Keller) Hilton.
Born in Wakefield, he was the son of the late Ellison "Tink" and Mildred (Milan) Hilton.
Mr. Hilton had worked as a computer systems-analyst for North Kingstown High School for many years before retiring. He had been a member of the Cross' Mills Volunteer Fire Department since 1947 serving as treasurer for many years. Active in Charlestown politics, he served on the town council as well as the planning commission.
He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War.
He was a member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Friendship Lodge 6, Charity Lodge 23 F&AM, Narragansett Commandery 6, Franklin Chapter 7 RAM, and the Palestine Marhaba Shrine Club.
A graduate of Westerly High School, class of 1950, he attended Providence College, earning a certificate in computer programming.
He had been a Boy Scout leader for many years, and he enjoyed reading and gardening and was concerned about the ecology of Charlestown's salt ponds.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert and his wife Donna and David Hilton, all of Charlestown; three daughters, Anne Hilton of New Port Richie, Fla., Nancy Furst of Richmond, and Janet and her husband Russell Major Jr. of Wiscasset, Maine; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours including ceremonies by the Masons and Odd Fellows, will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. today in the S.R. Avery Funeral Home, Main Street, Hope Valley. Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

A memorial service for Charles Whiteland Link will be held at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2003 in St. Andrew's Lutheran Church, Charlestown. Arrangements are entrusted to Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly.
