ROSE M. (CORMIER) VIGNEAULT - Woonsocket
ROSE M. (CORMIER) VIGNEAULT, 96, of Coe Street, a former twister and nurse's aide, died Saturday at Landmark Medical Center.
She was the wife of the late Claude Vigneault, and the late Celestino Filipponi. Born on July 8, 1905, in Woonsocket, a daughter of the late Francois and Suzanne (Boudreau) Cormier, she was a lifelong resident of Woonsocket.
Mrs. Vigneault was a twister for several Blackstone Valley textile mills for 30 years. She had also worked as a nurse's aide for the St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield, for 15 years and had been a volunteer in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Providence.
She was a past president of the Parkview Tenants Association, a past president and life member of the Harnois-Barnaby-Ariel VFW Post 7, and was named "Veteran of the Year" in 1987.
She leaves two daughters, Antoinette Briere in Florida and Regina Guilbault of Woonsocket, and 18 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late John and Frank Filipponi, and sister of the late Joseph Cormier and Marie Charrette.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from Egidio DiPardo and Sons Funeral Home, 75 Harris Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in Holy Family Church, South Main Street. Burial will be in Precious Blood cemetery, Blackstone, Mass.

RAYMOND R. PACHECO - Bristol
RAYMOND R. PACHECO, 73, of 43 Congregational St., a retired mail carrier and meat cutter, died Wednesday at Grace Barker Nursing Center, 54 Barker Ave., Warren.
He was the husband of Jennie (Cavalieri) Pacheco, to whom he had been married
for 52 years. Born in New Bedford, a son of the late John M. and Stella (Koroski) Pacheco, he had been a resident of Bristol for 52 years, and previously resided in Warren.
Mr. Pacheco was a mail carrier for 11 years for the U.S. Postal Service at the Barrington post office, retiring in 1990.
He previously was a meat cutter for 38 years for the former First National store in Bristol, and also at former First National stores in New Bedford, Fall River and Dartmouth, Mass.
Mr. Pacheco was an airman first class in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was a communicant of Our Lady Of Mount Carmel Church, where he was a former usher, a member of the former Holy Name Society, and a former member of the Nocturnal Adoration Society. He was a former member of the Anthony C. Almeida Post 237, VFW, and AMVETS.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, John R. Pacheco, and a daughter, Jeanne L. Bundy, both of Bristol, and three grandsons.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, State Street. Burial, with military honors, will follow in St. Mary cemetery.

CATHERINE M. PEPPIN - Coventry
CATHERINE M. PEPPIN, 64, of Eisenhower Street, a retired assembler, died Friday at Rhode Island Hospital after an illness.
She was the wife of Robert J. Peppin. Born in Lewiston, Maine, a daughter of the late Harold P. and Fayelyn M. (Cousens) Gagne, she had lived in Coventry for 20 years, previously living in Warwick.
She was an assembler at the former Victor Electric for seven years, retiring in 1990.
Besides her husband, she leaves four daughters, Norma M. Gagnon of Providence, Shirley A. Graham of Warwick, and Ann Marie D. Thayer and Jackie L. Gill, both of Coventry; three sons, Robert E. Gagne of East Providence, Earl H. Hawkins of Warwick and Wilfred J. Peppin of Coventry; two sisters, Mary Deady of Warwick and Bernice Davis in Texas; and 17 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. She was the sister of the late Harold, Ivan, Richard and Delmont Gagne, Haroldine Gauvin, Beverly Balch, Thelma Thibedau and Sharon Bryant.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. in Robert A. Iannotti & Sons Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., Route 117. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans cemetery, Exeter.

LILLIAN C. SOUSA - Cranston
LILLIAN C. SOUSA, 91, of Greylock Avenue, a former cashier and bookkepper, died yesterday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence.
She was the wife of Richard J. Sousa. Born in Providence, the daughter of the late George and Mary (Brown) Marchant, she had lived in Cranston for 40 years, previously living in Providence.
She had been a cashier and bookkeeper for department stores in the Providence area for many years, retiring in 1971.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Christine E. Martin of Narragansett; a granddaughter, Tara Beth Martin of West Warwick; and two grandsons, Christopher L. Martin and Todd R. Martin, both of Warwick.
The funeral will be private.

ALIONNA M. SHERROD-MARTINEZ - Providence
ALIONNA M. SHERROD-MARTINEZ, of Yale Avenue, 11-day-old infant daughter of Albert Martinez Jr. and Keyona Sherrod, died Friday at Women & Infants Hospital.
Besides her parents, she leaves a sister, Dajah Sherrod, her maternal grandparents, Calvin Nichols and Dianne Sherrod, her paternal grandparents, Alberto Martinez and Jacqueline Nieves, and her maternal step-grandmother, Charlene Dickens, all of Providence.
The funeral and burial will be private.

A. THOMSON COOKSEY - Seekonk
A. THOMSON COOKSEY, 94, of Edgemere Drive, a former artist and noted architect, died Thursday at Epoch, Blackstone Boulevard, Providence.
He was the husband of the late Alice (Schuyler) Cooksey. Born in Blacksburg, S.C., a son of the late Rufus Simpson and Sallie Agnes (Thomson) Cooksey, he had lived in Pawtucket before moving to Seekonk 38 years ago.
Mr. Cooksey was an artist, specializing in pastels and watercolors, who exhibited his works locally for many years.
He was a noted architect who designed many buildings in Rhode Island and Massachusetts over the past 60 years.
He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. He was a 1930 graduate of The Citadel, Charleston, S.C.
He leaves four daughters, Barbara M. Norton of Evergreen, Colo., Jean Neede of North Attleboro, Jo-Anne Asher of New York City and Patricia C. Blais of Cumberland; a son, Steven Thomson Cooksey of Wimauma, Fla.; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.

DOROTHY GUSTAFSON - Warwick
DOROTHY GUSTAFSON, 85, of Silver Lake Avenue, died Friday at Kent County Memorial Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Walter C. Gustafson. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late John and Ida Mae (Kettell) Shine, she had been a Warwick resident since 1951.
She leaves two sons, Walter C. Gustafson Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., and Donald J. Gustafson of Warwick; a sister, Evelyn Fontaine of Cranston; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late James Shine, Ethel Aldrich and Irene Bellrose.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave. Burial will be in Bethany Lutheran cemetery, Cranston.

GLADYS C. SOUZA - East Providence
GLADYS C. SOUZA, 80, of 95 Newman Ave., Rumford, a former technician, died Wednesday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence.
She was the wife of the late Frank Souza. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late William J. and Gladys R. (McConnell) McElroy, she was a lifelong East Providence resident. She worked as a technician for Avid Corp. for 10 years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Martha Church.
She leaves two sons, Paul E. Souza of East Providence and Thomas Souza of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; seven sisters, Catherine McKenna of Pawtucket, Marjorie Meunier, Mae Richardson, Arlene Thurber and Virginia Rogers, all of East Providence, Joan Paone of Cranston and Nancy Grant in Florida; five brothers, Robert and Thomas McElroy, both in Florida, Edward McElroy of Warwick, Stephen McElroy of East Providence and Daniel McElroy in West Virginia; and six grandchildren. She was a sister of the late William and James McElroy.
The funeral will be held Monday at 8:45 a.m. from Perry-McStay Funeral HOme, 2555 Pawtuket Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Martha Church, Pawtucket Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery.
