BELMIRA "BELLA" (MELLO) TAVARES - Fall River
BELMIRA "BELLA" (MELLO) TAVARES, 78, of Flag Swamp Road, North Dartmouth, a retired seamstress, died unexpectedly Saturday at home.
She was the former wife of the late Joseph C. Tavares. Born in New Bedford, a daughter of the late Francisco and Mary (Santos) Mello, she had lived in Fall River for more than 50 years before moving to Dartmouth in the late 1970s.
Mrs. Tavares was a seamstress for the former Anderson Little Co. in Fall River for 25 years, retiring in 1982.
She was a communicant of St. George's Church, Westport, and formerly of Santo Christo Church, Fall River, while living there. She was a former member of UNITE in Dartmouth.
She leaves two daughters, Patricia A. Vachon and Cynthia P. Pacheco, both of Dartmouth; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Joseph Mello.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. from the Dartmouth Funeral Home of Sullivan-Waring, 230 Russells Mills Rd., Dartmouth, with a Mass at 10 in St. George's Church, 12 Highland Ave., Westport. Burial will be in St. Patrick's cemetery, Fall River.

ELEANOR M. FOX - North Providence
ELEANOR M. FOX, 86, of Fruit Hill Avenue, a retired telephone operator, died yesterday at Wildflowers Healthcare by the Water, Greenville.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Patrick J. and Ellen M. (Flood) Fox, she had lived in North Providence for 41 years. Miss Fox was a telephone operator for the former New England Telephone & Telegraph for many years.
She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America, and was a former communicant of St. Augustine Church, Providence.
She leaves two neices, Margaret E. Perreault of Chepachet and Kathleen I. Zannini of Providence, and several other nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Francis D., James, Patrick J., Edward V., Mary T.E. and Anna G. Fox, Catherine I. Darby, Alice R. Dulong and Agnes E. Shepard.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Patrick Church, 244 Smith St., North Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Providence.

JOSEPHINE M. (CROCE) PARRILLO - North Providence
JOSEPHINE M. (CROCE) PARRILLO, 71, of Bourne Avenue, a retired bank reconciler, died yesterday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence.
She was the wife of Enrico "Harry" Parrillo. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Angelina (Cammisa) Croce, she had lived in North Providence for 37 years.
Mrs. Parrillo was a reconciler for Fleet Bank in Cranston, retiring in 1995 after 20 years. She was a communicant of Mary Mother of Mankind Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Patricia A. Brown of Cranston; a son, David Parrillo of North Providence; three sisters, Marie Iacobucci of Cranston, Anna Russo of Riverside, Calif., and Linda Lazzareschi of Johnston; a brother, Nicholas Croce Jr. of Johnston; and a granddaughter.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8 a.m. from Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Mary Mother of Mankind Church, Fourth Street, North Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann cemetery, Cranston.

THOMAS J. PIRRAGLIA - North Providence
THOMAS J. PIRRAGLIA, 50, of Hill Avenue, Elgin, Ill., died unexpectedly Dec. 6 at home.
He was the husband of Christine (Mello) Pirraglia. Born in Providence, a son of Thomas and Ellen (Connors) Pirraglia, both of North Providence, he had lived in Elgin for 20 years, previously living in North Providence and Bristol.
Mr. Pirraglia was a construction manager for Willow Lake Retirement Community, and had previously been a real-estate agent for Caldwell Banker.
Besides his wife and parents, he leaves two daughters, Amanda Wosniak and Stephanie Pirraglia, both of Elgin; a sister, Marilyn Faria of Coventry; a brother, Joseph Pirraglia of North Providence; and a niece and a nephew.
A memorial service was held in Elgin. Burial was private.

CHESTER S. KATKOWSKI - Pawtucket
CHESTER S. KATKOWSKI, 76, of Terrace Avenue, a retired wire inspector, died yesterday at home.
He was the husband of Viola C. (Walenty) Katkowski. Born in Providence, a son of the late Romuald and Gertrude (Sobolewska) Kotkowski, he had lived in Pawtucket most of his life.
Mr. Katkowski was a wire inspector for the former Carol Cable Co. for 30 years before retiring.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served as a sergeant in Northern France, and was awarded the Purple Heart.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Ronald C. Katkowski of Lincoln and Brian P. Katkowski of Pawtucket; a sister, Helen McFadden of Providence; two grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late John, Henry and Stanley Katkowski.
A funeral with military honors will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. from Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home, 342 High St., Central Falls, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 in St. Raymond Church, North Main Street, Providence. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans cemetery, Exeter.

THOMAS H. MIRON - Pawtucket
THOMAS H. MIRON, 80, of Belmont Street, a retired machine operator and store manager, died Saturday at Miriam Hospital, Providence.
He was the husband of Doris M. McKenna. They had been married
for 55 years. Born in Swansea, a son of the late Henry and Johanna (Hayes) Miron, he had lived in Pawtucket most of his life.
Mr. Miron was a manager for Dutchland Farms for many years before retiring, and had been a machine operator at the former Decorative Fabrics.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in China, Burma and India, and was a member of the Rhode Island branch of the Ministate Basha.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Thomas L. Miron of Pawtucket. He was the brother of the late William Collins, Molly Moulson and Ruth McDonnell.
The funeral and burial will be private.

MEDORA L. (SMITH) RICCIARELLI - Pawtucket
MEDORA L. (SMITH) RICCIARELLI, 72, of Olympia Avenue, a retired school nurse teacher, died yesterday at Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence.
She was the wife of Louis Ricciarelli. They had been married
for 50 years. Born on July 2, 1929, in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Edgar J. and Medora F. (Proulx) Smith, she was a lifelong resident of the city.
Mrs. Ricciarelli was a school nurse teacher in the Pawtucket school system for 19 years, retiring in 1994. She was previously employed as an ICU nurse at Miriam Hospital, Providence, and a head nurse at the former Lying-In Hospital, Providence, and had also worked for the Pawtucket Visiting Nurse Association.
She was a 1950 graduate of the Pawtucket Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and a graduate of Rhode Island College, where she received her bachelor's and master's degrees.
She was a member of the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, the Memorial Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, the Pawtucket Women's Club, and the Blackstone Valley Association for Retarded Citizens, where she was on the board of directors and had held various offices over the years.
She was a communicant of St. Teresa Church, and a member of its senior citizen group. She was a past president of the Parents and Friends Association for the Retarded.
Besides her husband, she leaves three sons, Louis Ricciarelli Jr. of South Kingstown, Mark W. Ricciarelli of Cumberland and Glenn M. Ricciarelli of North Scituate; five grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Eileen F. Vogt.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from William W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Teresa Church, 368 Newport Ave. Burial will be in the family lot at Mount St. Mary cemetery.
