ROY R. DALEY - Pawtucket
ROY R. DALEY, 74, of Daley Court, a former copywriter and executive secretary, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
She was the wife of the late John A. Daley Sr. Born in Johnstown, Pa., a daughter of the late H. Leroy and Mabel (Shumaker) Replogle, she had lived in Pawtucket for more than 40 years.
A 1946 graduate of Brookline High School, and a 1950 graduate of Simmons College, in Boston, she received a master's degree in education from Rhode Island College in 1972.
Mrs. Daley had been an executive secretary and copywriter for Ann & Hope, in Cumberland, before retiring. She also had been a copywriter at Apex.
In 1976, she ran as a candidate for the Pawtucket City Council.
She was a founding member of the local Animal Rescue League.
She leaves a son, John A. Daley Jr. of Yardley, Pa.; a daughter, Jacqueline Daley of Pawtucket; a sister, Jane Stockbridge of Mashpee, Mass.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandsons. The funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Teresa Church, Newport Avenue. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary cemetery.

ANNA (DOYLE) LEVESQUE - Portsmouth
ANNA (DOYLE) LEVESQUE, 77, of 51 Islington Ave., and formerly of Orchard View Road, a retired educator, died yesterday at Forest Farm Health Care Centre, Middletown.
She was the wife of the late Thomas Hughes Levesque, who served as state senator from Portsmouth from 1960 to 1966. Born in Fall River on April 10, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Charles Joseph and Mary (Kane) Doyle.
A graduate of Sacred Heart Academy, in Fall River, she received a bachelor's degree in education from Rhode Island College in 1959, and a master of arts degree from the University of Rhode Island in 1969. She also had earned certifications as a Rhode Island Reading Specialist and a Critic Teacher.
From 1959 to 1985, Mrs. Levesque was an elementary school teacher for the Barrington School Department. Honored as Teacher of the Year in 1976, she was one of five finalists for State Teacher of the Year.
In 1978, she was appointed by President Carter to the National Advisory Council on Women's Educational Programs, where she was a program chairwoman from 1980 to 1981. She also had been a member-evaluator, under the U.S. Women's Educational Equity Act, from 1977 to 1981.
Mrs. Levesque had served as a member of the National Council for the Accreditation of Teacher Education from 1976 to 1986.
From 1978 to 1981, she was a member of the state Department of Education's Certificate Advisory Committee, and from 1975 to 1977, of the Governor's Right to Read Council.
From 1979 to 1985, she served on the Barrington School Department's Appraisal Program, where she coauthored the teacher-evaluation program that was used as a model for the state.
Mrs. Levesque had been a member since 1977 of Delta Kappa Gamma International, Gamma Chapter, which she had also served as vice president and program chairwoman in 1986, and as parliamentarian for the state affiliate, Alpha Omega State, from 1985 to 1986.
She was a member from 1971 to 1981 of the Delegate Assembly of the National Education Association, Rhode Island, and from 1976 to 1980 of the National Representative Assembly of the National Education Association.
A member of the Barrington Teachers Association since its inception, Mrs. Levesque had served as a member of the union's executive board from 1967 to 1985, as president from 1978 to 1980, and as a member of the negotiating teams from 1967 to 1981. She also had chaired the Committee on Professional Rights and Responsibilities from 1972 to 1977 and 1983 to 1985.
When she retired from the Barrington School Department, the Barrington Teachers Association named her a life member -- making her the first person to be so honored.
She leaves four sons, Thomas H. Levesque Jr., state Rep. Charles J. Levesque and Ernest J. Levesque, all of Portsmouth, and former state Rep. George R. Levesque of Jamestown; a sister, Eileen Hoffman in Nevada; and two grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Mary Elizabeth Levesque, who served as state representative from Jamestown and Newport from 1988 to 1996. She was a sister of the late Patrick, Thomas and Charles Doyle and Kathleen Weir.
The funeral will be on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Connors Funeral Home, 55 West Main Rd., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Barnabas Church, 1697 East Main Rd. Burial will be on Friday at 11 a.m. in Trinity cemetery.

CAROLE EVELYN (SANNELLA) GAINES - Seekonk
CAROLE EVELYN (SANNELLA) GAINES, 64, of Sagamore Beach, Mass., a retired manager and saleswoman, died at home on Nov. 26, after a battle with ovarian cancer.
She was the wife of Lawrence M. Gaines. Born and raised in Providence, a daughter of the late Dr. Francis M. and Evelyn Sannella, she had lived in Charlotte, N.C., from 1981 to 1999, and in Seekonk from 1976 to 1980, before moving to Sagamore Beach.
A 1955 graduate of Classical High School, she had attended Brown University.
Mrs. Gaines had been the Lancome cosmetics counter manager at Dillard's Department Store, in Charlotte, and the leading saleswoman for the Southeast region, for 16 years before retiring. In her youth, she had worked as a lifeguard at Watch Hill. She enjoyed swimming, music, the piano and reading.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Michael C. Booth of San Francisco, Calif., and Peter C. Booth of Bielefeld, Germany; a stepson, Michael L. Gaines of Irvine, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Susan M. Gaines of Plymouth, Mass.; a brother, Carl Sannella of East Providence; and four grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday in Swan Point cemetery, Providence.

JOHN V. MURPHY - Warwick
JOHN V. MURPHY, 55, of Middlefield Drive, an electrical engineer, died unexpectedly Friday at Kent County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Providence, a son of Dorothy M. (Vera) Murphy of Warwick and the late James A. Murphy, he had lived in Providence before moving to Warwick 20 years ago.
A 1963 graduate of Classical High School, and a 1967 graduate of the University of Rhode Island, he received his master's degree from Northeastern University.
Mr. Murphy had been an electrical engineer for many years, working for Ocean Technology, Syscon Corporation and Hughes Aircraft, all of Middletown.
He was a communicant of St. Benedict Church.
Besides his mother, he leaves a brother, James A. Murphy Jr., a sister-in-law, Leann Murphy, and two nieces, all of Coventry.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. in St. Benedict Church, Beach Avenue. Burial will be private.

DONALD E. CASSIDY - Westerly
DONALD E. CASSIDY, 71, of Clark Street, a spot welder for Eastern Wire of Providence before retiring in 1976, died Sunday at home. He was the husband of the late Bertha J. (Tisdale) Cassidy. Born in South Kingstown, a son of the late Elwyn O. and Edith A. (Northup) Cassidy, he had lived in Wakefield before moving to Westerly 20 years ago.
An Army veteran of the Korean War, serving as a paratrooper, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 8955, Westerly.
He leaves a son, David C. Cassidy of Johnston; three daughters, Kathi D. Petit of Virginia Beach, Va., and Eva M. Cassidy and Debbie L. McGraw, both of Westerly; a brother, Robert J. Cassidy of Kenyon; two sisters, Edith L. Secor of Sarasota, Fla., and Sandra Henley of Wakefield; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be today at 6 p.m. at the Forbes Funeral Home, 28 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be private.

HAROLD E. STROLEN - Westerly
HAROLD E. STROLEN, 60, of Ledward Avenue, and formerly of Carpenter Street, Providence, died Sunday in Westerly Hospital.
He was the husband of Georgina (Breault) Strolen; they had been married
for 22 years. Born in Providence, a son of the late Harold and June (Broadbent) Strolen, he had lived there for many years before moving to Westerly four years ago.
Besides his wife, he leaves two stepsons, Robert Tice of Warwick and Dennis Tice of Cranston; a stepdaughter, Diane Tice of Westerly; and three sons, James, Alan and Brian Strolen, a daughter, Deborah Strolen, and a sister, Annmarie Robinson, all of Providence.
The funeral will be on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the Pennine Funeral Home, 28 Grove St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Holy Ghost Church, Knight Street, Providence. Burial will be private.
