MARION K. LENNON - Providence

MARION K. LENNON, 93, of Cathedral Avenue, died yesterday in Roger Williams Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Francis A. Lennon, who was Providence public safety commissioner under Mayor Walter H. Reynolds. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Peter J. and Mary (Kellett) McQuillian, she was a lifelong resident of Providence.
Mrs. Lennon was a charter member of St. Augustine Church, and a member of its Rosary and Altar Society, the Fatima Guild and Mount Pleasant Senior Citizens.
She had done volunteer work at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence.
She leaves a son, Frank Lennon of Providence; a daughter, Sheila Lennon of Providence, an editor at The Providence Journal; a granddaughter, Casey Dahm of Cranston; and a great-grandson. She was the sister of the late Marguerite Gaffney, and Charles, Helen and Anna McQuillian.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, Mount Pleasant Avenue. Burial will be private.
RUTH E. MORRIS - Pawtucket
RUTH E. MORRIS, 86, of Clifford Street, a retired bookkeeper, died Sunday at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
A lifelong resident of Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late Ambrose J. and Ruth S. (Johnson) Morris.
She had attended the Rhode Island School of Design, and was a graduate of the Tabott-Hubbard Business School. Ms. Morris been a bookkeeper for William H. Haskell Mfg. Co. for 42 years before she retired in 1982.
She was a member of Park Place Congregational Church.
She leaves a sister, Mildred M. Morris of Pawtucket; a brother, Henry B. Morris of Barrington; and three nephews, Barrie Morris in Kentucky, Craig Morris of Warren and Jeffrey Morris of Barrington.
The funeral will be on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Mortuary of D.W. Bellows & Son, 85 Park Place. Burial will be private.

BLANCA I. ESCOBAR - Pawtucket
BLANCA I. ESCOBAR, 51, of Ferris Street, a former machine operator, died yesterday at home after a long illness.
Born in Medellin, Colombia, a daughter of the late Bernardo and Carmen Rose (Velez) Escobar, she came to the United States in 1984, settling in Pawtucket. Ms. Escobar had been a machine operator for several years at Paramount Line, in Central Falls, until retiring due to illness. She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church, where she was an Eucharistic minister, serving the Hispanic community of the parish, and was very active in church affairs. She leaves two brothers, Javier Escobar in Colombia and Gustavo Escobar of Pawtucket; six sisters, Beatriz Vasquez of Pawtucket, with whom she made her home, Luz Escobar, also of Pawtucket, Ana Jaramillo of Central Falls, Bernarda Villegos of North Providence, Laura Escobar in Bolivia, and Angela Jaramillo in Colombia. She was a sister of the late Elena Escobar. The funeral will be on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Charles Coelho Funeral Home, 151 Cross St., Central Falls, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Joseph Church, Walcott Street, Pawtucket. Cremation will be in Swan Point cemetery, Providence. Burial will be in Colombia.

JOSEPH W. CRAWLEY - Pawtucket
JOSEPH W. CRAWLEY, 61, of York Avenue, a retired machinist, died Saturday at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
He was the husband of Ann Marie "Nickie" (Britto); they had been married
for 32 years. Born in South Boston, Va., a son of Exie Hughes Crawley of Providence and the late Walter Crawley, he had lived in Pawtucket for most of his life.
Mr. Crawley had been a machinist with Brown & Sharp Mfg. Co. for more than 31 years, until retiring two years ago because of illness.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Gary J. and Kevin A. Crawley, both of Pawtucket; a sister, Diane Baker of Charlotte, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church, Pine Street. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Providence.

BRIGID ERIN KELLY - Newport
BRIGID ERIN KELLY, 20, of 10 Norman St., a sophomore at Salve Regina University and a cheerleading coach at Rogers High School, died Saturday morning in a three-car collision on Route 1 in South Kingstown.
Born in Newport on Nov. 18, 1981, she was a daughter of Christopher W. and Ellen M. (Buckley) Kelly of Newport. She was a 1999 graduate of Rogers High School, where she had been a member of the National Honor Society, a recipient of the National Society Award in French and the Light of Character Award, and a member of the girls' track team and the Performing Dance Team.
Miss Kelly was employee of The Gap in Newport, and had also worked for the Tom McGrath Clambake Co. in Newport.
She was an award-winning Irish step dancer, with the Nevins Academy.
Miss Kelly was a parishioner of St. Augustin Church, where she was the first female altar server.
Besides her parents, she leaves a sister, Elise Anne Kelly, her maternal grandparents, Wilfred and Pauline Buckley, and her paternal grandmother, Theresa M. Kelly, all of Newport; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was a granddaughter of the late John F. Kelly and Alfred Amaral.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 10 a.m. in St. Augustin Church, Carroll Avenue. Burial will be private.

DORIS L. KETTELLE - East Greenwich
DORIS L. KETTELLE, 90, of Crompton Road, a homemaker and former teacher's assistant, died Saturday in Kent County Memorial Hospital, Warwick.
She was the wife of Norman Kettelle. Born in Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Bertha (Bates) Essex. Mrs. Kettelle had been a teacher's assistant at the Washington School, in Coventry, before retiring. Besides her husband, she leaves three daughters, Joyce Spencer of East Greenwich, Janet Erinakes of Burleson, Texas, and Audrey Lussier of Exeter; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Norma Boisclair, and the sister of the late Clarence Essex.
The funeral service will be on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Gorton Funeral Home, 721 Washington St. (Route 117), Coventry. Burial will be in Rathbun cemetery, Coventry.

RUTH E. DAY - Cranston
RUTH E. DAY, 92, of Broad Street, and formerly of Ash Avenue, died yesterday at the Scandinavian Home.
She was the wife of the late Robert N. Day, and previously of the late Gustavus Hagglund and the late Stanley Kaye. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Robert and Mary (Hughes) Steward, she had lived in East Greenwich and in Warwick before moving to Cranston in 1977.
Mrs. Day was a member of Greenwood Community Church, Presbyterian, in Warwick, and of the church's Presbyterian Women.
She was a past mother advisor of Rainbow for Girls and a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Providence Chapter.
She leaves a daughter, Jane Sidelinger of Warwick; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Steward Kaye, and the sister of the late Katherine Jeschke and William, Robert and James Stewart.
The funeral service will be tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Carpenter-Jenks Quaker Lane Chapel, 659 East Greenwich Ave., West Warwick. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.

MANUEL F. "BRAZ" VASCONCELOS - Pawtucket
MANUEL F. "BRAZ" VASCONCELOS, 56, of 8 George St., a machine operator, died Saturday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence.
He was the husband of Catarina (Silva) Vasconcelos. Born in Brava, Cape Verde Islands, a son of Maria (Vasconcelos) Baptista of Pawtucket and the late Manuel Goncalves, he came to the United States 26 years ago, settling in Pawtucket.
Mr. Vasconcelos had been a machine operator for the Providence Metalizing Co. for the past 20 years. Besides his wife and his mother, he leaves two daughters, Maria Vasconcelos of Pawtucket and Zenaida Vasconcelos in Portugal; a son, Manny Silva Vasconcelos of Wareham, Mass.; six sisters, Maria Goncalves, Maria Bernaldino and Marie Vasconcelos, all of Pawtucket, Justa Goncalves of East Providence, Julia Gomes daSilva in Portugal and Ivone Andrade of Coventry; five brothers, José Goncalves in Portugal, Daniel daLomba of the Dorchester section of Boston, Joao daLomba and Benicio Vasconcelos, both of Pawtucket, and Bartholomew Vasconcelos of Providence; and three grandchildren.
The funeral service will be on Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Perry-McStay Funeral Home, 2555 Pawtucket Ave., East Providence. Burial will be in Swan Point cemetery, Providence.
