CLARE ELLIS GRAHAM - Jamestown
CLARE ELLIS GRAHAM, 70, of Raquet Road, a retired employee of the Jamestown School Department, died Friday at home.
She was the wife of E.W. Sterling Graham Jr. They were married
for 50 years. Born in Newark, N.J., a daughter of the late John M. and Mary E. (Morgan) Ellis, she had lived in Rumford before moving to Jamestown.
Mrs. Graham worked for the Jamestown School Department before retiring, and had previously worked for St. Matthew's Episcopal Church, All Angels Episcopal Church, Rumford, and at Katharine Gibbs School in Montclair, N.J.
She was a graduate of Prospect Hills School, Newark, Baird School, Orange, N.J., Mount Vernon Junior College, Washington, D.C., and the Katharine Gibbs School in Boston.
She was a member and former president of the Jamestown Garden Club, and a member of the Jamestown Philomenian Library, Jamestown Historical Society, and St. Matthew's Episcopal Church.
She was a member of the Hillsboro Club, Pompano Beach, Fla., the Museum of Yachting, Newport, the Cottrell Pier and Dumplings Associations, and a former member of the Junior League of Providence, and the Rumford Garden Club.
An avid sportswoman, she was a member of the Conanicut Yacht Club, and enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf, camping, gardening, playing bridge and doing volunteer work.
A member of the Newport Navy Flying Club, she held a commercial pilot's license with instrument ratings, and logged many coast-to-coast flights.
Besides her husband, she leaves four sons, E.W. Sterling Graham III of Jamestown, Peter B. Graham of Barrington, Reed H. Graham of Manassas, Va., and William L. Graham III of Newport; two daughters, Wendell M. Graham of Acton, Mass., and Tenney E. Graham of South Dartmouth, Mass.; a brother, John Munn Ellis of Brielle, N.J.; and nine grandchildren. She was the sister of the late William M. Ellis.
The funeral was private.

MARION (GREER) KOPF - Narragansett
MARION (GREER) KOPF, 93, of Sand Hill Cove Road, a homemaker, died yesterday at home. She was the wife of the late Ralph E. Kopf. Born in Newark, N.J., a daughter of the late Francis and Mary (Nugent) Greer, she had lived in Warwick before moving to Narragansett 26 years ago.
She leaves three sons, Ralph E. Kopf of Jupiter, Fla., Bruse E. Kopf of Narragansett and Arthur E. Kopf of St. Lucie West, Fla., four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Frank and John Kopf, Ida Younghans, Betty Schneider and Martha Oberhauser.
The funeral service will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Forbes Funeral Home, 23 Columbia St., Wakefield. Burial will be in Quidnessett Memorial cemetery, North Kingstown.

WALTER HATCH LAWTON - Newport
WALTER HATCH LAWTON, 62, of Bliss Mine Road, formerly of Gibbs Avenue, a Raytheon employee, died Saturday at home. He was the husband of June (Doherty) Lawton. They were married
for 40 years. Born in Newport, he was a son of the late John Beckman and Eleanor (Hatch) Lawton.
He worked for Raytheon Inc. for 28 years, and for the Preservation Society of Newport County.
Mr. Lawton had served in the Air Force, in Germany, the Dominican Repulic, and South Carolina.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, James Walter Lawton of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a daughter, Julie Lynn Knisley of San Antonio, Texas; a brother, John Lawton in Massachusetts; and two grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held tomorrow at 8 p.m. in Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway.

ROBERT M. FREEBORN - North Kingstown
ROBERT M. FREEBORN, 66, of 902 Boston Neck Rd., a master electrician and a former police officer, died Saturday in South County Hospital, Wakefield.
Born in North Kingstown, a son of the late G. Milton and Inez (Gardiner) Freeborn, he was a lifelong resident of the town.
He was a master electrician with Freeborn Electric for about 50 years, and had been the electrical inspector for several years.
He had been an officer in the North Kingstown Police Department. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and a member of American Legion Post 12.
He was a member of the South Kingstown Elks, Lodge 1899, North Kingstown Masons, Lodge 5, the Wickford Club, the East Greenwich Veteran Firemen's Association, and the Order of Demolay.
He leaves two sons, Robert Scott and Todd R. Freeborn, both of North Kingstown; a daughter, Jeannine Freeborn of Warwick; two brothers, G. William and Kenneth A. Freeborn, both of North Kingstown; three sisters, Marilyn Nagy of Coventry, Betty Andre of Wickenburg, Ariz., and Carol R. Perry of North Kingstown; a companion, Janet Brier of North Kingstown; and two grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Fagan Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd. Burial will be in Elmgrove cemetery, North Kingstown.

VIRGINIA (CORSETTI) DeSANTIS - North Smithfield
VIRGINIA (CORSETTI) DeSANTIS, 84, of Mettity Road, a retired jewelry worker, died Wednesday in Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, Providence.
She was the wife of the late Frank DeSantis. Born in Arce, Italy, a daughter of the late Eleuterio and Louisa (Corsetti) Corsetti, she had lived in Providence before moving to North Smithfield in 1999.
She was a jewelry worker at Uncas Mfg. Co., Providence, for over 30 years, retiring in 1980.
She leaves three brothers, Donato Corsetti of North Smithfield, Bernardo Corsetti of Lawrence, Mass., and Michael Corsetti of North Providence; two sisters, Giuseppina Corsetti and Maria Fraioli, both of Arce; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from Maceroni Funeral Home, 1382 Smith St., North Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Holy Ghost Church, Knight Street, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann cemetery, Cranston.

JOSEPHINE A. (LOPES) SILVA - Rehoboth
JOSEPHINE A. (LOPES) SILVA, 68, of Mason Street, retired co-owner of Rex Cleaners, East Providence, died yesterday at Southcoast Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Somerset. She was the wife of Edmund Silva. Born in Somerset, a daughter of Helen (Morris) Lopes of Taunton and the late Joaquim Lopes, she had lived in Rehoboth for 49 years.
She was co-owner and operator with her husband of Rex Cleaners for many years before retiring.
She was a parishioner of St. Dominic Church, Swansea, a Cub Scout leader with Pack 1 and Troop 63, both in Rehoboth, and a Girl Scout and Brownie leader in Rehoboth.
Besides her husband and mother, she leaves three sons, David Silva and Michael Sullivan-Silva, both of Rehoboth, and Edmund Silva Jr. of Providence; a daughter, Linda Grant of Smithfield; three brothers, Richard and Ronald Lopes, both of Taunton, and Kenneth Lopes in Arizona; a sister, Karen Egan of Somerset; and seven grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Judith Texeira.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. from Hathaway Community Home for Funerals, 900 Buffinton St., Somerset, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. Dominic Church, 1277 GAR Highway, Route 6, Swansea. Burial will be in Rehoboth Village cemetery.

PASCO C. MACARI - Smithfield
PASCO C. MACARI, 69, of Eisenhower Drive, an account representative, died Friday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
He was the husband of Maureen D. (Rathier) Macari. Born in Providence, a son of Federico and Virginia (Gamba) Macari, he had lived in Smithfield for 44 years, previously living in Cranston.
Mr. Macari was an account representative for John Hancock Insurance Co. for several years before retiring.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War, and received two Purple Heart Medals.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Brian G. Macari of Baltimore and Jason P. Macari of Cumberland; a daughter, Dawn E. Ball of Cumberland; a brother, Gino Macari of Cranston; a sister, Mary Riccio of Johnston; and eight grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Olindo and Edo Macari.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 8:30 a.m. from Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike.
