DAVID E. ROY SR. - Pawtucket
DAVID E. ROY SR., 46, of Greene Street, a maintenance worker at the Providence YMCA, was pronounced dead at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence, after he was stricken while at work on Wednesday . A lifelong Pawtucket resident, he was a son of the late Richard E. and Joann Roy.
Before going to work at the YMCA, Mr. Roy had been employed by MFG Trucking of Woonsocket and Perkins Co. of Mansfield, Mass.
He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
Mr. Roy leaves three sons, Matthew M. and Travis L. Roy and David E. Roy Jr., and two stepsons, Steven Patricio and Anthony Cabral, all of Pawtucket.
A funeral service will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. in the Costigan-O'Neill Funeral Home, 200 Cottage St. Burial will be in Notre Dame cemetery.

DOUGLAS CLAYTON MICHAEL WALSH - Newport
DOUGLAS CLAYTON MICHAEL WALSH, 43, of Whitinsville, Mass., and formerly of Newport, a printer, died Sunday at home, after an illness.
Born in Warwick, a son of Jonathan L. Walsh of Shrewsbury, Mass., and the late June E. (Crocker) Walsh, he was a stepson of Nancy (McKeow) Walsh of Shrewsbury.He had lived in Newport before moving to Whitinsville. He was a graduate of Grafton (Mass.) Memorial High School, and attended Central New England College.
Mr. Walsh worked as a printer at Concepts Unlimited, Acton, Mass., and had previously worked at PDQ Printing, Newport.
A musician and composer, he played drums in several area bands.
He was an avid sailor, skier and computer technologist.
Besides his father and stepmother, he leaves two sisters, Lynda Theriault of Shrewsbury, Mass., and Lauren Mack of Sterling, Mass.; a brother, J. Christopher Walsh of Shrewsbury; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held on Friday at 9 a.m. from the Britton-Shrewsbury Funeral Home, 648 Main St., Shrewsbury, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mary's Church, Main Street, Shrewsbury. Burial will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick.

STEPHEN DOUGLAS BASTIAN - South Kingstown
STEPHEN DOUGLAS BASTIAN, 46, of 4 Farmers Circle, North Dartmouth, Mass., a regional restaurant manager, died Friday at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, after a liver transplant. He was the husband of Sheryl (Amaral) Bastian. Born in Washington, D.C., a son of Richard Harris Bastian of Yarmouth Port, Mass., and the late Patricia (McNeil) Bastian, he was a stepson of Geraldine Bastian of Yarmouthport. He was raised in Norwich, Conn., and had spent his summers in Dennisport, Mass.
He was a 1973 graduate of Norwich Free Academy, and a graduate of Johnson & Wales University, in Providence.
Mr. Bastian was the New England regional director of operations for the Ruby Tuesdays restaurant chain, and had previously worked in management with several other national restaurant chains.
An Army veteran, he served in Germany from 1974 to 1976.
Mr. Bastian was a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary, Flotilla 605, Fairhaven, Mass., and the Acushnet River Safe Boating Club. An avid sailor, he loved to visit Cuttyhunk, Mass., and to make trips around the Cape and Buzzards Bay on his 22-foot sloop.
Besides his wife, his father and his stepmother, he leaves a daughter, Briere Michelle Bastian, and a son, Zachary Bastian, both in the West Kingston section of South Kingstown; a stepdaughter, Sarah Snell, and two stepsons, Ryan and Craig Bastian, both of Dartmouth, Mass.; a brother, William Bastian of Yarmouth Port; and a sister, Kimberly Bastian of Cambridge, Mass.
A celebration of his life will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. at the Congregational Church of South Dartmouth, 17 Middle St., Dartmouth.

STEVEN N. BRANCA - Warwick
STEVEN N. BRANCA, 47, of Clatyon Road, a retail manager, died yesterday in Kent Hospital.
He was the husband of Cynthia M. (Taylor) Branca. Born in Providence, a son of Marie (Romano) Branca of Cranston and the late John I. Branca, he had lived in Warwick for 20 years. Mr. Branca had been the assistant manager of the Florsheim Shoe Co. store at the Warwick Mall for 10 years. He was a community-service officer for the city of Warwick, a coach in the Apponaug Girls Softball League, and an umpire in the St. Gregory the Great Girl's Softball League.
Besides his wife and mother, he leaves a daughter, Lindsay M. Branca at home; and a brother, John A. Branca of Providence.
The funeral will be held Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from the Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Catherine of Siena Church, Post Road, Apponaug. Burial will be in St. Ann cemetery, Cranston.

ENRIQUEZ GONZALES-CORA - Woonsocket
ENRIQUEZ GONZALES-CORA, 76, formerly of Fourth Avenue, a heavy-machine operator before retiring in 1977, died Friday at Oakland Grove Health Care Center. He was the husband of the late Graciela (Ferrer) Gonzales-Cora. Born in Patilas, Puerto Rico, he was a son of the late Encarnacion Cora.
Mr. Gonzales-Cora leaves four sons, Enriquez Luis Gonzales and Luis Angel Gonzales, both in Puerto Rico, and Miguel and Enriquez Gonzales, both in New York; two daughters, Carmen Gonzales of Providence and Yvette Gonzales of Holyoke, Mass.; and 26 grandchildren. He was the father of the late Janet and Nora Gonzales. The funeral and burial will be private.

RONALD C. HAMMOND SR. - Coventry
RONALD C. HAMMOND SR., 88, of Comfort Way, a retired Warwick fire captain, died Saturday Kent County Memorial Hospital, Warwick.
He was the husband of L. Estelle (Jillson) Hammond. Born in Providence, a son of the late Albert and Grace Louise Hammond, he had lived in Warwick before moving to Coventry 17 years ago.
He was a member of the Fire Department for 45 years, starting as a volunteer lieutenant in Greenwood Volunteer Fire Company, and later becoming one of the first training officers in the Warwick Fire Department, retiring in 1968 as a captain.
He was a member of the Retired Firefighters Instructors Association, and was active in the Airport Fire Department for many years.
He played softball and enjoyed golfing. He coached in the Greenwood Softball Association, and won the state championship in 1949.
He was a member of the Greenwood Community Church Presbyrterian.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Gilbert L. Hammond of Key Largo, Fla., Ronald C. Hammond Jr. of Warwick and Ralph C. Hammond of Hope, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was the father of the late Steven M. Hammond, and brother of the late Ralph L. Hammond, Grace Perreault, Louise Cambio and Claire Barnes.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at a time to be announced from Urquhart-Murphy Funeral Home, 800 Greenwich Ave., Warwick. Burial will be in Brayton cemetery, Warwick.

BARBARA L. (SMITH) STANTON - Cranston
BARBARA L. (SMITH) STANTON, 72, of Dorchester, Mass., a retired administrative assistant, died Saturday at Bostonian Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dorchester, after an illness.
She was the wife of the late William J. Stanton Jr. Born in Boston, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Ella M. (Hatch) Smith.
Mrs. Stanton was an administrative aide at Samuel W. Mason School, Roxbury, Mass., for almost 20 years, and later worked as a hostess at The Last Hurrah restaurant, and Parker's restaurant, both at the Parker House Hotel in Boston.
She was a graduate of Girls High School, Boston, and earned her bachelor's degree in early-childhood education from Roxbury Community College in 1984.
Mrs. Stanton was active in St. Patrick's Parish, Roxbury, St. Ann's Parish, Neponset, Mass., and the Boston College High School Mothers Guild.
She leaves a son, WillIam J. Stanton of Cranston, and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from Mulry Home for Funerals, 223 Neponset Ave., Dorchester, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Ann's Church, Neponset. Burial will be in Mount Benedict cemetery, West Roxbury.
