MIRIAM B. GILSON - Cumberland
MIRIAM B. GILSON, 83, of Gilbert Court, a former piano teacher, died Saturday at Diamond Hill Nursing Center.
She was the wife of Harlan E. Gilson Jr. They were married
for 48 years. Born in North Smithfield, a daughter of the late Bayard B. Burlingame Sr. and the late Irene (Sprague) Burlingame, she had lived in North Attleboro before moving to Cumberland 22 years ago.
Mrs. Gilson had taught piano lessons in her home for more than 20 years. She had attended the Providence Conservatory of Music and the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
She had attended Central Congregational Church, Attleboro Falls, for more than 30 years. She was a member of Angle Tree Garden Club, North Attleboro, and the North Attleboro Historical Society. She was a member of the former Providence Plantation Club and the Chaminades in Providence.
Besides her husband, she leaves a daughter, Anne G. Aussant of Cumberland; her twin sister, Mildred Richardson of Greenville; a grandson; and a niece and several nephews. She was the sister of the late Bayard B. Burlingame Jr. and Edward Burlingame.
The funeral service will be private. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery, Taunton, Mass. A memorial service will be held next Monday at 1 p.m. in Central Congregational Church, 115 Commonwealth Ave., Attleboro Falls.

CHARLES JAMGOCHIAN - Cranston
CHARLES JAMGOCHIAN, 73, of Case Avenue, a retired electric company employee, died Friday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
He was the husband of Rose A. (DerMovsesian) Jamgochian. Born in Providence, a son of the late Stephen and Mariam (Kopoian) Jamgochian, he had lived in Providence for 27 years before moving to Cranston in 1954.
He worked in the meter department of Narragansett Electric Co. for 39 years, retiring in 1989.
Mr. Jamgochian was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Orpheus Lodge 36, AF&AM;, and the Armenan Masonic Degree Team.
He was a member of Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, Providence, and a co-founder of the Cranston Budlong Baseball League.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Charles Jamgochian Jr. and James M. Jamgochian, both of Cranston, and two grandsons. He was the brother of the late Harry and Michael Jamgochian.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from John K. Najarian Funeral Home, 1447 Westminster St., Providence, with a service at 11 in Sts. Vartanantz Armenian Apostolic Church, 402 Broadway, Providence. Burial will be in Swan Point cemetery, Providence.

JAMES S. BARTLETT - Cranston
JAMES S. BARTLETT, 84, of Grove Avenue, a retired delivery man, died Saturday at home.
He was the husband of the late Marjorie Bartlett. Born in Providence, a son of the late Kenneth and Josephine (Spinella) Bartlett, he lived in Cranston for many years.
Mr. Bartlett was a delivery man for H.P. Hood Dairy for more than 30 years, retiring in 1978. He was a communicant of St. Matthew Church and a life member of Little Rhody Beagle Club.
He leaves a daughter, Lynne Fitzpatrick of Warwick; two sons, Michael J. Bartlett of Bow, N.H., and Stephen F. Bartlett of Old Lyme, Conn.; two sisters, Helen Butterworth and Barbara Rainone, both of Warwick; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mary Carlone.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8:45 a.m. from Butterfield Chapel, 500 Pontiac Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Matthew Church, Elmwood Avenue. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery, Townsend, Mass.

CHARLES W. KELLETT - Middletown
CHARLES W. KELLETT, 94, of 430 Paradise Ave., a retired machinist, died yesterday at Grand Islander Health Care Center.
He was the husband of the late Evelyn Alice (Barker) Kellett. Born in New Bedford on July 24, 1907, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Leyland) Kellett.
For more than 30 years, Mr. Kellett worked as a machinist at the Naval Warfare Ordnance Station, now the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, retiring in 1969.
He attended Calvary United Methodist Church.
He leaves a son, Charles B. Kellett, and a daughter, Sally Ann Black, both in Florida, three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Mildred Irish.
Services will be private.

NETTIE HARRIETT SIMMONS - Middletown
NETTIE HARRIETT SIMMONS, 98, of 44 Crest St., a home demonstration agent and dog breeder and judge, died Wednesday at Newport Hospital.
Born in Dedham, Mass., on April 28, 1903, she was a daughter of the late Clarence A. and Luella (Bartlett) Simmons.
A descendant of William White, George Soule, John Alden and William Mullins, she was a member of the Rhode Island chapter of the Mayflower Descendants and of the Major William Tappert Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Miss Simmons worked as a home demonstration agent for Newport County, retiring in 1963 after 37 years in the U.S. Extension Service.
A member of the Silkey Terrier Club of America and the Pug Dog Club of America, Miss Simmons was active in breeding, showing and judging dogs, and was licensed by the American Kennel Club to judge toy breeds. She raised many champions in the pug and silkey terrier breeds under the Clavon Kennel name.
A graduate of Dedham (Mass.) High School, Miss Simmons went on to Framingham State College and the University of Rhode Island, receiving her bachelor's and master's degrees in education. She also attended the University of Vermont and the University of New Brunswick,in Canada.
She was a trustee of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Newport.
Miss Simmons was a charter member of the Newport Chapter of the AARP, had been a member of the Grange's Aquidneck Chapter since 1929, and was a member of the Current Topics Club and the American Association of University Women.
She leaves a nephew, James Simmons of St. Louis, Mo.; two nieces, Barbara Mhyree of Gainesville, Fla., and Edla Cummings of Norfolk, Mass.; and two grandnephews, C. Douglas Cummings of Plainville, Mass., and Bruce W. Cummings of Norton, Mass.
Services will be held in late April.

EVELYN SCHANIL - Newport
EVELYN SCHANIL, 65, of Village House, formerly of 29 Merton Rd., a former bank employee, died Sunday at Village House. Born in Newport, she was a daughter of the late August and Bertha (Hurd) Schanil.
Mrs. Schanil was employed at Bank of Newport, formerly Savings Bank of Newport, for 24 years.
She leaves three brothers, August Schanil Jr. of Westerly, and Charles W. and Robert Schanil, both of Newport, and a sister, Edna Faverio of Fruitland Park, Fla.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in Hambly Funeral Home, Brick House, 30 Red Cross Ave. Burial will be in Island Annex cemetery.

THERESA (PIGNATELLI) SILVIA - Newport
THERESA (PIGNATELLI) SILVIA, 74, of 27 Webster St., a former teacher's aide, died Sunday in Taftsville, Vt.
She was the wife of the late Frank J. Silvia. Born in East Providence on March 8, 1927, she was a daughter of the late Leonardo and Theresa (Perreira) Pignatelli.
Mrs. Silvia was a teacher's aide at Thompson Junior High School from 1970 to 1996, retiring after 25 years. Before joining the Newport School Department, she had worked for Rita Sellar of the "Seaweed" estate on Bellevue Avenue.
She leaves four sons, Frank Silvia Jr. of Milford, Conn., David Silvia of Taftsville, Leonard Silvia of Newport and Raymond Silvia of Middletown; four sisters, Rose Beebe and Shan Impellitteri, both of Middletown, Lucy Bastinelli of Portsmouth, Va., and Hilda Castro of Newport; and 11 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 8 a.m. from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Augustin Church, Carroll Avenue. Burial will be in St. Columba cemetery, Brown's Lane, Middletown.
