GERTRUDE SHECHTMAN - Providence
GERTRUDE SHECHTMAN, 82, of North Main Street, died Friday at Miriam Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Louis Shechtman. Born in Boston, a daughter of the late Abraham and Sadie (Schwartz) Cohen, she lived in Providence since 1937.
Mrs. Shechtman was a member of the Cranston Senior Guild and the Charlesgate North Residence Association.
She leaves a sister, Sylvia Simpson of Providence. She was the sister of the late Paul Cohen.
A graveside service will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Lincoln Park cemetery, Warwick.

JANE ELIZABETH HACKETT - Portsmouth
JANE ELIZABETH HACKETT, 83, of Westfield, N.J., formerly of Portsmouth, died Thursday at Sunrise Assisted Living Center, Westfield.
She was the wife of the late James E. Hackett Jr. Born in Norfolk, Va., she was a daughter of the late Roy L. and Nellie (Foiles) Burton.
Mrs. Hackett had been a member of the Newport Hospital Auxiliary and had also been a hospital volunteer.
She leaves two sons, William F. Hackett of Belle Mead, N.J., and James E. Hackett III of Evanston, Ill.; three daughters, Anne Hackett of Athens, Ala., Katherine Hackett of Warwick and Jane Egan of Westfield; a brother, Roy L. Burton Jr., and a sister, Frances Gammon, both of Norfolk; and 18 grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from Memorial Funeral Home, 375 Broaway, Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Joseph Church, Broadway, Newport. Burial will be in St. Columba cemetery, Middletown.

AUGUSTINE T. DAMORE JR. - Pawtucket
AUGUSTINE T. DAMORE JR., 87, of Newport Avenue, a retired mechanical engineer, died Saturday at Beechwood.
He was the husband of the late Berniece G. (Gill) Damore. Born in Providence, a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Augustine Damore Sr., he lived in Pawtucket most of his life.
Mr. Damore was a master mechanical engineer for the Town of Smithfield for many years, retiring two years ago. He was also a licensed master plumber.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and a graduate of the former Technical High School, Providence.
He leaves a caretaker, M. Muriel Galeshaw of Pawtucket; a sister, Josephine Lapiere of Warwick; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Teresa Church, Newport Avenue. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery, East Providence.

ANNIE TIERNEY - Pawtucket
ANNIE TIERNEY, 87, of Manchester Street, formerly of Cedar Street, a former laundry attendant, died yesterday at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Tierney. Born in England, a daughter of the late Alfred and Mary A. (Mitchell) Harris, she had lived in Central Falls before moving to Pawtucket.
Mrs. Tierney had been an attendant at Economy Laundromat, Lincoln, for several years.
She leaves three daughters, Eileen Duffy, with whom she lived, Marilyn Almond of Lincoln and Ethel Taylor of Lake Wales, Fla.; a sister, Mary Jensen of Racine, Wis.; and 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was the sister of the late Edith Lander, and Ernest and John Harris.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Keefe Funeral Home, 1035 Lonsdale Ave., Central Falls. Burial will be in Seekonk cemetery.

JANET T. PASELA - Pawtucket
JANET T. PASELA, 61, of Saratoga Avenue, an employee of Pawtucket Fasteners Inc., died Saturday at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island.
She was the wife of John J. Pasela and the late Frank Pancerowicz. Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Edmond and Clara (Varrin) Beauchamp, she lived in Pawtucket for 18 years.
Mrs. Pasela had worked in the molding department of Hasbro Mfg. Co. for many years, retiring last year.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Edward Chemelowski of Cumberland and Eugene Chemelowski of Rehoboth; a daughter, Barbara Brouillard of West Warwick; three sisters, Barbara Miller of Coventry, Joan Kmon of Voluntown, Conn., and Madeleine McFarlane in Rhode Island; three brothers, Pat Beauchamp of Coventry, and Anibal and Joseph Gil; and 15 grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Aline Stearns and sister of the late Laurent, Edmund and Paul Beauchamp, Ronald Grenier and Norma Stukas.
The funeral and burial will be private.

MARY VASILIKA MITCHELL KINGSBURY - Pawtucket
MARY VASILIKA MITCHELL KINGSBURY, 87, of Steadman Avenue, a retired employee of Jeanne Jugan Residence, died Friday in Wells, Maine, while on vacation.
She was the wife of Donald R. Kingsbury. They were married
for 71 years. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Olga (Danekos) Alexian, she had lived in Providence before moving to Pawtucket 62 years ago.
Mrs. Kingsbury worked at the residence for 25 years, retiring in 1992.
Besides her husband, she leaves five daughters, Shirley Quinn, Isabel Carroll, Arlene Murray, Elizabeth DeCosta and Lorraine McShane, and a son, William D. Kingsbury, all of Pawtucket, 36 grandchildren and 60 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Beverly Ann Kingsbury and sister of the late Christopher R. Mitchell.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Leo the Great Church, Central Avenue. Burial will be in Notre Dame cemetery.

JOSEPHINE A. PERFETTO - North Providence
JOSEPHINE A. PERFETTO, 73, of Ambrose Street, a retired jewelry worker, died yesterday at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Michael Perfetto. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Josephine (Raso) Rega. Mrs. Perfetto worked in the repair department of the former Kesteman Bros. Jewelry until she retired. She had also worked for Speidel Jewelry Manufacturing, Providence.
She was a member of the Fruit Hill Day Center for the Elderly.
She leaves three daughters, Jo-Anna Perfetto and Susan Perfetto, both of North Providence, and Michele Perfetto of Woonsocket; two sisters, Mary Agny of Providence and Rose Santopietro of North Providence; two brothers, John Rega of Cranston and Anthony Rega of Johnston; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frank and Anna Rega.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from Mariani Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins St., Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in St. Ann Church, Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann cemetery, Cranston.

E. GAIL FIGGINS - Narragansett
E. GAIL FIGGINS, 64, of Mumford Road, a former partner in Beach Plum Creations, died Friday at home after suffering from Pick's Disease for two years.
She was the wife of Kenneth G. Figgins. Born in Wakefield, she was a daughter of the late Carmen and Lillian (McDonough) Beatrice. Mrs. Figgins had been the secretary of St. Thomas More Church and Monsignor Mathew Clark School for many years and had also done volunteer work at the church as well as the school. A parishioner of St. Thomas More Church, she had cared for the altar flowers for many years.
An avid camper, she spent most of the past 30 years traveling. She was a graduate of Johnson & Wales College and South Kingstown High School.
She leaves two sons, Kevin G. Figgins of South Kingstown and David E. Figgins of Narragansett; a daughter, Tracy E. Fisher of Narragansett; and five grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was the mother of the late Gregg A. Figgins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Thomas More Church, 53 Rockland St. Burial will be in St. Francis cemetery, Wakefield.
