MARGARET D'ANTONINO - Cranston

MARGARET D'ANTONINO, 96, of East Street, died Sunday at Harborside-Pawtuxet Village Health Care Center, Warwick.

She was the wife of the late Guiseppe D'Antonino. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Martha (DiRocco) Buglio. She leaves a daughter, Jennie M. Lupino of Warwick; a sister, Frances Pacheco of Barrington; three grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild. She was the mother of the late Harry D'Antonino and sister of the late Guido and Edward Buglio.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 9 a.m. from "Woodlawn," 600 Pontiac Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Spruce Street, Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann cemetery.

LUCY MARY CARDILLO - Cranston

LUCY MARY CARDILLO, 84, of Hillcrest Drive North, a retired hairdresser, died Sunday at home.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Zenophile and Lucy (Pettine) Tetreault, she lived in Cranston for many years.

Mrs. Cardillo was a self-employed hairdresser for many years until she retired.

She leaves a daughter, Sandra Gendron, with whom she lived; a son, Felton Cardillo of West Greenwich; and a granddaughter, Nicia Ventetuole of Johnston. She was the sister of the late Alvire Ferry.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 8 a.m. from Manning-Heffern Funeral Home, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 in Our Lady of Grace Church, George Waterman Road, Johnston. Burial will be in St. Ann cemetery.

RUTH A. TAYLOR-BRIGGS - Coventry

RUTH A. TAYLOR-BRIGGS, 81, a former keypunch operator, died Sunday at Coventry Health Center. She was the wife of Floyd K. Briggs of Oak Hill, Fla. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Paul and Gladys (David) Chase, she had lived in Oak Hill, Fla., before moving to Coventry two years ago.

Mrs. Briggs was an IBM keypunch operator at Quonset Point for 16 years until it closed in 1972. She had been a nurse's aide at Kent County Memorial Hospital for several years and had also worked at the former Davol Rubber Co., Providence, for several years.

She had been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels in Oak Hill. She was an auxiliary member of American Legion Post 43, Warwick, and American Legion Post 8894, Edgewater, Fla., and was also a member of the West Shore Imperial Drum and Bugle Corps.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, George W. Wilson Jr. of Warwick; and two daughters, Linda A. Sullivan of Kingston and Donna E. Aldridge of Flagler Beach, Fla.

The funeral service will be held tonight at 8 p.m. in Thomas and Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., Warwick. Burial will be private.

MARGARET F. "FRAN" GARDNER - Coventry

MARGARET F. "FRAN" GARDNER, 75, of Grant Drive, died Sunday at home.

She was the wife of James T. Gardner. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late James and Bridget T. (Kilduff) Leonard, she lived in Coventry for 37 years.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Robert F. Gardner of Newfield, N.Y.; six daughters, Kathleen C. Chauvette and Eileen F. Jacques, both of West Warwick, Beatrice A. Jacques of Burrillville, and Margaret B. Madison, Elizabeth M. Gardner and Rebecca M. Hunt, all of Coventry; a brother, James Leonard, and a sister, Kathleen Jordan, both of Floral City, Fla.; 22 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 8:45 a.m. from Peter J. Barrett Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Ave., Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in SS. John and Paul Church, South Main Street. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery, West Greenwich.

ANNA K. SMITH - Charlestown

ANNA K. SMITH, 97, of Edgeware Street, a retired supervisor, died Sunday at Westerly Nursing Home.

She was the wife of the late John W. Smith. Born in Austria, a daughter of the late John and Annie (Burghardt) Schmitt, she came to this country at the age of 7, and had lived in Smithfield before moving to Charlestown 10 years ago.

Mrs. Smith was believed to be the oldest living resident of Charlestown and had received the Boston Post Road Cane. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.

She leaves a sister, Dorothy Barlow of Warwick; two granddaughters, Kathleen A. Girard of Charlestown and Lisa K. Martin of Smithfield; a grandson, John J. Conway Jr. of Warwick; a friend, Gilbert Hicks of Westerly; 9 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Katherine A. Conway and Warren W. Smith and sister of the late Elizabeth Colwell and John Schmitt.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. in Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Burial will be in St. Ann cemetery, Cranston.

KENNETH L. WILKINSON - Charlestown

KENNETH L. WILKINSON, 67, of Honey Locust Drive, a retired police officer, died Sunday at South Kingstown Nursing Home, West Kingston.

He was the husband of Janet E. (Peck) Wilkinson. Born in Providence, a son of the late Raymond and Velma V. (Mitchell) Wilkinson, he had lived in Narragansett for 18 years before moving to Charlestown 4 years ago.

Mr. Wilkinson worked for the Providence Police Department for 34 years, retiring with the rank of sergeant in 1991. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Providence Chapter 3, and the Providence Police Association, and a past president of the Commissioned Police Officers Association of Rhode Island.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War.

Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Kevin L. Wilkinson of West Kingston, Steven K. Wilkinson of Warwick, and Jeffrey P. Wilkinson of North Kingstown; a brother, Ernest R. Wilkinson of Nokomis, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in Phillips Memorial Baptist Church, 565 Pontiac Ave., Cranston. Burial with military honors will be in Pawtuxet Memorial Park cemetery, Warwick.

MARY V. MATUSZEK - Central Falls

MARY V. MATUSZEK, 91, of Rand Street, a former material handler, died Saturday at Grandview Nursing Home, Cumberland.

She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Matuszek. Born in Cumberland, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Catherine (Milos) Lass.

Mrs. Matuszek had been a material handler for the former Sidney Blumenthal Co., Cumberland, and the former Pawtucket Dress Co.

She leaves two sons, John Matuszek of Seekonk and Richard Matuszek of Meridian, Idaho; a sister, Helen Truszkowski of Cumberland; a brother, Joseph Lass of Central Falls; 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Stanley Lass, Frances Milos and Anna Skwirz.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from Karol A. Romenski and Sons Funeral Home, 342 High St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Joseph Church, High Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame cemetery, Pawtucket.

OLIVE COMPTON PEARSON BRITTAN - Attleboro

OLIVE COMPTON PEARSON BRITTAN, 89, of Park Place, South Attleboro, a former teacher and principal, died Sunday at home.

Born in Roxbury, Mass., a daughter of the late Franklin O. and Lydia Sophie (Pearson) Brittan, she had lived in Lincoln before moving to South Attleboro in 1955.

Miss Brittan had been a teacher and principal in the Lincoln school system. She received a master's degree in education from the Rhode Island College of Education in 1952, and was a 1934 graduate of Bridgewater State Teachers College.

She had been president and on the board of directors of the Rhode Island Institute of Instruction, and was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Omega. She was also a life member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She had been secretary of the Rhode Island State Teachers Association and the Rhode Island Conservation of Wildlife.

Miss Brittan was the parliamentarian for the Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Delta Kappa Beta Chapter.

She leaves a daughter, Claire E. Thorp of North Attleboro; a granddaughter, Helenanne Judisch of North Kingstown; a grandson, David J. Thorp of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and three great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in Bellows-Falso Funeral Chapel, 160 River Rd., Lincoln. Burial will be private.
