EDWARD SEADER JR. - Bristol
EDWARD SEADER JR., 69, of Arnold, Md., an engineer for NASA, died Wednesday in Fort Howard Veterans Hospital.
Born in Mahoney City, Pa., a son of the late Edward F. Seader Sr. and Blanche (Williamson) Seader, he lived in Arnold for 24 years, previously living in Bristol.
He was an engineer at NASA/Goddard Space Center. He had served in the Navy from 1948 to 1968, retiring as a chief petty officer.
He was a member of the United States Submarine Veterans, Chesapeake Base, DAV Chapter 13, the Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 24, American Legion Post 297, and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodges 898 and 199.
He enjoyed carpentry and woodworking.
He leaves a son, Francis X. Seader of Barrington; a daughter, Sharon L. Botelho of Bristol; five brothers, Francis Seader Jr. and Charles Seader, both in Virginia, Lamarr Seader and Brian Seader, both in Florida, and Frederick Seader in Glen Burnie, Md.; three sisters, Lucille Mathieson of Arnold, Charlotte Trammel in Florida and Georgina Phillips of Laurel, Md.; and two grandchildren.
Burial will be in Lakemont Memorial Gardens.

JOAN M. DERBY - Burrillville
JOAN M. DERBY, 67, of South Main Street, Pascoag, a retired nurse, died unexpectedly yesterday at home.
Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Edward and Beatrice (Ballou) Torpey, she lived in Burrillville most of her life.
Mrs. Derby was a registered nurse at Our Lady of of Fatima Hospital, North Providence, for more than 40 years, retiring in 1994. She had also worked in the pediatric unit at Rhode Island Hospital and for the Burrillville District Nurses Association and the former Lying-In Hospital, now Women & Infants Hospital.
She was a 1953 graduate of the Rhode Island Hospital School of Nursing and a communicant of St. Joseph Church, Pascoag.
She leaves a son, Mark C. Derby of Nasonville; two brothers, Edward Torpey of Pascoag and David J. Torpey of North Attleboro; a grandson; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late John T. Torpey.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 9 a.m. from Boucher Funeral Home, 272 Sayles Ave., Pascoag, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Joseph Church, Sayles Avenue, Pascoag. Burial will be in St. Patrick cemetery, Harrisville.

PATRICIA A. LaBADIE - Burrillville
PATRICIA A. LaBADIE, 61, of Corinth, Vt., a retired spinner, died Thursday at home.
She was the wife of the late Clarence Clark. Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Merrill D. and Blanche M. (Fague) Dowd, she had lived in Burrillville for 20 years and Chepachet before moving to Vermont in 1977.
She was a spinner in various textile mills in Rhode Island and Massachusetts for many years, retiring in 1977.
She leaves two sons, Wilfred J. "Bud" LaBadie of East Thetford, Vt., and Michael J. LaBadie of West Fairlee, Vt.; two daughters, Deborah M. Baxter of Winsor, Vt., and Eugenia A. "Gena" Bemis of Chepacet; a sister, Edith Moran of Chepachet; and six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Joseph Dowd.
The funeral service will be held tomorrow at 11 a.m. in Tucker-Quinn Funeral Home, 649 Putnam Ave., Greenville. Burial will be in Acote Hill cemetery, Chepachet.

PATRICIA M. DUCHARME - Burrillville
PATRICIA M. DUCHARME, 77, of Centennial Street, Pascoag, a former pin draft operator, died Saturday at Landmark Medical Center, Woonsocket.
She was the wife of Louis A. "Johnny" Ducarme. Born in England, she was a daughter of the late James and Emma (Webb) Clark.
Mrs. Ducharme had been a pin draft operator in area textile mills for many years until 1968.
A British army veteran of World War II, she was a member of American Legion Post 17, Women's Auxiliary.
Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, James P. Ducharme of Pascoag and John S. Ducharme of Thompson, Conn., 5 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Waterman-Brown Funeral Home, 104 Church St., Pascoag. Burial will be private.

MARY P. WINSOR - Attleboro
MARY P. WINSOR, 54, of Hutchinson Road, a master sergeant in the Army National Guard, died yesterday at Rhode Island Hospital, Providence.
She was the wife of George W. Winsor. Born in Attleboro, she was a daughter of Virginia O. (Castro) Fischbach of Attleboro and the late Clarence A. Fishbach. Mrs. Winsor served in the National Guard since 1977 and was based in Cranston.
She was a 1964 graduate of Attleboro High School.
Besides her husband and mother, she leaves two daughters, Sheri A. Winsor of Attleboro and Holly A. Winsor of North Attleboro; a brother, Edwin A. Fischbach of Attleboro; three sisters, Anne L. Farren of St. Augustine, Fla., Virginia J. Brown of Swansea and Valerie R. Pavao of Attleboro; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 8 a.m. from Duffy-Poule Funeral Home, 20 Peck St., with a funeral Mass at 9 in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery.

JOHN V. "VIN" NIHAN - Attleboro
JOHN V. "VIN" NIHAN, 84, formerly of Carpenter Street, a retired systems analyst, died Saturday at Madonna Manor, North Attleboro.
A lifelong Attleboro resident, he was a son of the late John M. and Jennie (Denno) Nihan.
He was a systems analyst for Texas Instruments Co. for 27 years, retiring in 1980.
An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Nihan served in Europe. He was a former member of St. John's Council 404, Knights of Columbus, and had been an active member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society for 30 years.
He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, where he had been a collector. He was a 1939 graduate of the Bentley School of Acccounting and Finance.
He leaves two cousins, Robert Cassidy of Attleboro and Gerald Donnelly of North Attleboro, and his friends, Donald and Frances Barnes, both of Ashby, Mass. He was the brother of the late Ruth M. Nihan.
The funeral will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. from Foley Hathaway Funeral Home, 126 South Main St., with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in St. John the Evangelist Church, 133 North Main St. Burial will be in the family lot in St. John's cemetery.

EMMA PARENTEAU - Warwick
EMMA PARENTEAU, 96, of Astral Street, a retired waitress, died Friday at Warwick Health Center.
She was the wife of the late Phillip I. Parenteau. Born in Springfield, Mass., a daughter of the late Harry and Susan (Morse) Olsen, she had lived in Cranston before moving to Warwick in 1965.
She was a waitress at the Turks Head Club, Providence, for 12 years, retiring 31 years ago. She later co-owned MEDE Ceramics for six years.
Mrs. Parenteau was a past grand electa and past grand organist of the Order of the Eastern Star, and a past matron of Signet Chapter 21 in Cranston.
She leaves a daughter, Dorothy R. Vieweg of Warwick; two sons, Phillip I. Parenteau Jr. of Toledo, Ohio, and William L. Parenteau of Mobile, Ala.; and 8 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Harry, William, Christopher, Susan and Joseph Olsen.
The funeral service will be private.

EMMA (COCCIA) PONZA - Warwick
EMMA (COCCIA) PONZA, 101, formerly of Celestia Avenue, Cranston, a homemaker, died Friday at Warwick Health Center.
She was the wife of the late Romaio Ponza. Born in Naples, Italy, a daughter of the late Nicola and Anna Coccia, she had lived in Cranston for many years before she moved to Warwick.
She leaves two sisters, Eva and Nina Coccia, both in Italy, 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Angelo Ponza, Tina Simone and Elda Maraia, and sister of the late Eleanor and Eda Coccia.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. from Butterfield Chapel, 500 Pontiac Ave., Cranston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Mark Church, Garden City. Burial will be in St. Ann cemetery, Cranston.
