Isabel A. Gonsalves

EAST PROVIDENCE – Gonsalves, Isabel A. (Amado), age 98, of Irving Ave., died Saturday morning, February 16, 2008 at the Linn Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Louis Gonsalves.
Born January 11, 1910, in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Constance (Burgo) Amado. Mrs. Gonsalves was the last surviving founding member of the Cape Verdean Progressive Center, East Providence.
She is survived by her daughter, Constance Shorts, and son, John Reis Jr., both of East Providence; 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.
She was the mother of the late Ralph Gonsalves Sr.
Her funeral will be Wednesday at 11am in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Mary cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours will be Wednesday morning 10am to 11am.
Clifford Owen Mitchell
Born in Newport, RI on May 9, 1942
Departed on Nov. 26, 2011 and resided in Block Island, RI.
BLOCK ISLAND – Clifford Owen Mitchell, age 69, of Center Rd., died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2011 at the South County Hospital. He was the husband of Judith (Metz) Frazier Mitchell and the late Linda (McCullouch) Mitchell.
Born May 9, 1942, in Newport, RI, he was the son of the late Earl L. Mitchell and Ruth M. (Steadman) Norlin. He was raised on Block Island and graduated in 1961 from the Block Island School. He enlisted in the US Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War.
An avid and accomplished sailor, Clifford held a Captain's license and was a member and former Commodore of the Newport Yacht Club. He was the founder of the Owen L. Mitchell and Earl L. Mitchell annual Newport to Block Island regattas, which he ran for the past 30 years.
He was a volunteer with Block Island Maritime Institute and a member of the Block Island American Legion Post 36.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his brother, Frank E. Norlin of Middletown; his sisters, Nancy E. and William Sullivan of Portsmouth, and Susan and Raymond Abraham of Middletown; and his cousin, Lloyd V. Ripa and his wife Barbara of Middletown.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering beginning at 6pm, Saturday, Jan. 28, 2012, at the Newport Yacht Club, 110 Long Wharf, Newport. A graveside service will take place at the Island cemetery, Block Island, at the later date.

Natalia Cordeiro
Born in Sao Miguel, Azores on Dec. 16, 1964

Natalia (Leitao) Cordeiro, age 46, of the Almeida Apartments, Bristol, died Monday, May 23, 2011, at the Rhode Island Hospital. Born Dec. 16, 1964, in Sao Miguel, Azores, she was a daughter of Jose and Sofia (Cordeiro) Leitao of Rumford.
Natalia was the mother of Justin, Monica and Jeremy Tavares, all of Bristol.
Her funeral will begin at 8am Tuesday from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at St. Francis Xavier Church, No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will take place at the Resurrection cemetery, Cumberland. Visitation will be Tuesday morning, 7:30am until 8am.
Julia C. Gamboa

Gamboa, Julia D., age 90, died May 27, 2011. She was the daughter of the late Marcelino P. Gamboa and Herminia (Duarte) Gamboa. She was predeceased by 1 brother and 6 sisters.

Maria deJesus Ferreira dos Santos, age 79, of Bradford, Westerly, RI, died May 28, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Rogerio Augusto Ferreira dos Santos. She was born in Madeira, Portugal, the daughter of the late Joaquim and Joaquina (deJesus) Pestana.
She is survived by her children; Rogerio dos Santos and Amadeu dos Santos of Westerly and Teresa Fonseca of Lisbon, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was the sister of Gilda Pestana and Milagres Pestana both of Brazil, Manuel Pestana of So. Attleboro, Justina Ascencao of Seekonk and Maria Vinagre of Central Falls and the late Joaquim Pestana.
Her funeral will begin on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 No. Carpenter Street, East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery. Manuel R. Rosa

Departed on May 28, 2011 and resided in East Providence, RI.
Rosa, Manuel R., age 79, died May 28, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Dinora (Arruda) Rosa of 56 years.
He is survived by his children, Maria Jose Costa, Joseph, Gilbert, Anna, Paul and Susie Rosa, Alda Cooke, Lydia and her husband Messias Carvalho, 10 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 6 sisters and 2 brothers. He was the father of the late Debbie Rosa.
His funeral will begin on Friday at 8 AM from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 9 AM in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will be in St. Ann's cemetery. Manuel B. Grilo

Grilo, Manuel B., age 47, of Laurel Hill Ave, died June 9, 2011 at RI Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Sandra (Castro) Grilo. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of Baltazar and Maria Fatima (Amaral) Grilo of East Providence.
Besides his wife of 29 years, he is survived by his children, Christine Turner of Rehoboth, Samantha Grilo and Joshua Grilo both of Cranston. He was the brother of Maria Burns of Rehoboth, Olivia St. Angelo of Barrington, Joseph Grilo of East Providence, Ann Grilo of Rehoboth and Steven Grilo of FL. He was the grandson of the late Maria Cordeiro.
His funeral will begin on Monday at 8:45 AM from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. The Funeral Service will follow at 10 AM in New Hope Christian Church, 1436 Grand Army Highway, Swansea, MA. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery.
