CUMBERLAND - Gerard J. Nault, 71, of 8 Westwood Drive, died Saturday at home. He was the husband of Alice (Niemi) Nault.
Born (2-25-32) in Leominster, MA he was the son of the late Alphonse and Virginia (Charpentier) Nault. He resided in Cumberland for the past 44 years.
He worked in the Aero Space Industry, employed in Research and Development , working with NASAA with Air-Lock, Inc. of Milford, CT for 35 years and was still working on a semi-retired basis.
He was a communicant of the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Among his hobbies were reading about the civil war, WWI and WWII.
Besides his wife he leaves two sons, Ronald Nault of Whittier, Calif., and Steven Nault of Riverside, Calif., One daughter, Barbara Nault of Cumberland. Three brothers, Roger Nault of Gardner, Mass., Joseph Nault and Rene Nault, both of Fitchburg, Mass. Four sisters, Theresa Miller of Lancaster, Mass., Georgette Ducharme of Manning So. Car., Jeannie Murphy of Fitchburg, Mass., and Lorraine Malozzi of Petersham, Mass., Six grandchildren, two great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 A.M. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in the Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Road, Cumberland. Burial will be in the Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

Cumberland - Constance E. Kane, 75, of 156 Bear Hill Rd. died Saturday in the Grandview Nursing Center, Cumberland. She was the wife of the late John P. Kane.
Born (9-23-18) in Central Falls she was a daughter of the late Lester C. and Elizabeth (Dailey) Godfrey. She was raised in Cumberland and had lived in Warwick for 37 years returning to Cumberland 3 years ago.
She was a communicant of St. John Vianney Church, Cumberland and a former communicant of St. Gregory The Great Church, Warwick.
She leaves one brother, Bud Godfrey of Lincoln and many close nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of the late Blanche Chandonnait.
Her funeral will be held Tuesday at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Rd., Cumberland. Burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.

Chepachet - Susan M. McKee-Pond, 48, of 2 Chestnut Hill Rd., died Tuesday at the home of a family friend after an illness.
Born (7-6-55) in Pawtucket, and raised in Valley Falls, she was a daughter of Lois (Lord) McKee of Cumberland and the late Everett McKee. She resided in Chepachet for the past 8 years, previously living in Blackstone, MA for many years.
She was employed at the Zamborano Memorial Hospital for the past 10 years.
Besides her mother she leaves two sons, Bryan and Jason Pond both of Blackstone. Two brothers, Robert McKee of Cumberland and Richard McKee of Southington, CT. Four sisters, May Marzalkowski, Virginia Fiore, and Rose Marie Chevalier all of Cumberland and Cecilia Corkery of Farmington, NH. Several nieces and nephews. She is also leaves her beloved companion, Mark Gauthier of Chepachet.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 8 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland.

SOUTH ATTLEBORO - Gracinda Almeida, 88, of 73 Lord Street, died Sunday at home.
Born (9-11-1915) in Portugal, she was the daughter of the late Antonio S. and Clementina (Baptista) Almeida. She was a life long Attleboro resident.
She was a textile worker for the Crown Manufacturing Company, Attleboro for many years until retiring in 1981.
She was a member of the Uniao Benificente, Pawtucket. She was a communicant of St. Theresa Church, Attleboro. She was formerly a member of the Clube Juventude Lusitana, Cumberland.
She leaves one brother, Joseph Almeida of South Attleboro. Several nieces and nephews. Sister of the late Alzira Almeida, Joaquim Almeida, and Alfredo S. Almeida.
Her funeral will be held Thursday at 9 A.M. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122 Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in the St. Theresa Church, Attleboro. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cumberland.

CUMBERLAND - Francis “Fran” T. Carroll, 86, of 10 Old Diamond Hill Rd., died Friday in Emerald Bay Manor, Cumberland. He was a husband of 58 years to Lucille (Daigle) Carroll.s
Born (2-28-1917) in Millville, MA he was the son of the late George W. and Margaret (Hart) Carroll. He resided in Cumberland for the past 18 years previously living in Woonsocket.
He was the President and Treasurer of the former J. B. Farnum Co., in Woonsocket for many years until his retirement in 1982.
He was a communicant of St. Joan of Arc Church, Cumberland and formerly a communicant of St. Charles Church, Woonsocket.
Mr. Carroll attended the University of Notre Dame and Providence College. He was an avid golfer, as a member of the Winnesucket Golf Club for many years. And also summered in Misquamicut Beach beginning in the 1930’s.
A WW II U. S. Army veteran he was among the first draftees entering the service as a private and discharged with the rank captain. He spent most of his five years of service in North Africa with the Combat Engineer Unit. Mr. Carroll was a member of the Great Convoy of 850 Transports and Warships that carried out the Invasion of French North Africa. He was cited for leadership in this action in the Harbor of Oran. During his service he was awarded in EAME Theatre Ribbon with two Bronze Service Stars and the Victory Ribbon of WWII.
Besides his wife, he leaves one son, Peter F. Carroll of New York, two daughters, Nancy J. Carroll of Cumberland and Susan J. Foley of Westerly. One sister, Marie O’Brien of Manchester, NH. One grandson, Thomas Carroll Foley of Westerly. He was also the brother of the late Marjorie Bliss, Charles E. Carroll and George W. Carroll Jr.
A funeral with military honors will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Rd., Cumberland. Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery, Blackstone, MA.
Arrangements are under the direction of the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland.

Cumberland - Louis J. “Joe” Garceau, 81, of 104 McGirr St., Cumberland died Tuesday in The Holiday Nursing Center, Manville. He was the husband of Catherine (Walsh) Garceau.
Born (8-22-1922) in the Valley Falls section of Cumberland he was a son of the late Joseph L. and Gertrude (Pryor) Garceau. He was a life long Cumberland resident.
He was employed by the former Ciba Geigy Chemical Co., Cranston for 21 years retiring in 1985.
He was a WW II, U. S. Navy veteran serving in the European and Pacific Theatres of Operations.
He was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Cumberland. He was a member of the St. Patrick and St. Aidan Seniors and was also a member of the LeFoyer Club, Pawtucket.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Barbara Goodier of Cumberland and Mary Ann Brooks of Cameron, NC. Two sons, Joseph E. Garceau of Garner, NC and John Garceau of Seekonk, MA. Thirteen grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren. He was also the brother of the late Edward Garceau.

Cumberland - Mary E. Buss, 88, of 17 Pleasant St. died Tuesday in the Memorial Hospital, Pawtucket. She was the wife of the late George T. J. Buss.
Born (1-24-15) in the Valley Falls section of Cumberland she was a daughter of the late Eugene and K. Theresa (Connors) Archambault. She was a life long Cumberland resident.
She was employed by the former Sub Galley, Cumberland for 15 years until her retirement.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick Church, Cumberland. She was a former volunteer at Children’s Museum of R I when the facility was located in Pawtucket.
She leaves three sons, George E. Buss of Bowie, MD, Paul J. Buss of Cumberland and John F. Buss of Aurora, CO. Five daughters, Mary Cecile Piette of Hebron, CT, Kathleen M. LaSalle of Lakeland, FL, Christina M. Searles, Patricia E. Elliott and Rose M. Jannarelli all of Cumberland. Twenty three grandchildren, twenty seven great grandchildren. She was also the mother of the late Margaret F. Buss.
