Virginia Barboza

PAWTUCKET – Barboza, Virginia "Dolly", 67, a longtime Pawtucket resident, died early Wednesday morning, Oct. 8, 2008 at the Memorial Hosp. of RI.
Born Jan. 30, 1941, in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late Aurelio and Elizabeth (DeLomba) Barboza.
Raised in Riverside, Dolly loved the ocean, music, dancing and her grandchildren.
She was a long-standing member of the Church of the Master in Providence.
She is survived by her children, Rose Stone of Pawtucket, Cynthia Crum of Pawtucket and Robert Tuscany of Johnston; her siblings, John "Chink" Barboza of New Bedford, Rose Pinto of Pascoag, Raymond Barboza of Calif. and David Barboza of South Carolina; seven grandchildren; two great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
She is the sister of the late Harry, George and Alfred Barboza and Yvonne Gonsalves and Dorothy DaSilva.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial gathering Friday evening from 6-8pm at the Church of the Master, 15 Valley St., Providence.
Manuel J. Silva
Born in Providence, RI on May 13, 1936
Departed on Oct. 29, 2008 and resided in Pawtucket, RI.
PAWTUCKET – Silva, Manuel J., 72, of Belmont St., a locally well known saxophone player, died Oct. 29, 2008.
He was the beloved husband of Fern Clement.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Peter and Minnie (Rainey) Silva.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his wife, he leaves his children, Charlene Lanier of Cohoes, NY, Scott McLaughlin of Seekonk, and William Nicastro of Greene; 11 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and his sisters, Dorothy Correia of East Providence and Rosalina Coelho of FL.
He was preceded in death by 2 sisters, Anna Gomes and Matilda Baptista, and 6 brothers, Joseph, Francis, Antone, Louis, Peter and Alfred Silva.
His funeral will begin Monday at 11am at the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence.
Military honors and burial will follow at St. Francis cemetery, Pawtucket.
Calling hours will be Sunday 5-8pm.
Joseph Domingos Cruz
Born in Bridgeport, CT on Mar. 14, 1918
Departed on Jan. 3, 2009 and resided in Providence, RI.
Joseph Domingos Cruz
PROVIDENCE – Cruz, Joseph Domingos, age 90, of 96 Grand View St., died Saturday, January 3, 2009 at Berkshire Place.
He was the husband of the late Perpetua (Almeida) Cruz.
Born March 14, 1918, in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Domingos and Ana (Ramos) Cruz.
Mr. Cruz worked for 25 years at Imperial Knife.
He is survived by his seven children, Maria Do Rosario, Antonia Cruz, Maria Delgado, Manuel Cruz, Domingos Cruz, and Antonio Cruz, all of Providence, and Fatima Gomes of Brockton, MA,; 17 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
He was the brother of Constancia Cruz of the Cape Verde Islands and of the late Antonia A. Ramos.
His funeral will begin Wednesday at 8:45am from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am at the Holy Name of Jesus Church, Camp St., Providence.
Burial will follow at the North Burial Ground.

Ana Maria Gomes
Born in Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde Island on Apr. 18, 1927
Departed on Apr. 3, 2009 and resided in Providence, RI.
Gomes, Ana Maria, 81, of Julian St. died April 3, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Joaquim J. Gomes. Born in Sao Nicolau, Cape Verde Island, she was the daughter of the late Roque N. and Maria P. (Brito) Almeida.
She is survived by her children; Maria da Luz of Central Falls, Orlando Gomes and Alexandra Monteiro both of Providence, Jose Gomes of Pawtucket, 8 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter.
She was the sister of Jose, Silveiro and Angela Almeida all of Cape Verde Island, Lucia Almeida of Brazil and Augusta Soares of VA.
She was the sister of the late Luis, Raul and Augusto Almeida.
The funeral will be held on Wednesday at 8:45AM from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10AM in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 99 Camp St. Providence.
Burial will be in Gate of Heaven cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4-8PM.
Troy John Pina
Born in Providence, RI on May 26, 1979

EAST PROVIDENCE – Pina, Troy John, 29, died Sunday, May 17, 2009 at St. Ann's Hospital, Fall River.
Born in Providence on May 26, 1979, he was the son of Lesa M. (Pina) Martinez of East Providence and Nestor Rodriguez of Taunton, MA, the stepson of Miguel Martinez, and fiancé of Maria "Leila" Alfama of East Providence.
He also is survived by his children LaTroya Alfama, Troy Alfama and Jayla Alfama; his brother Brandan Martinez; his grandmothers, Marilyn Pina and Crucin Rodriguez; many aunts and uncles; and his brother and best friend Cisco Monteiro.
His funeral will begin Saturday at 10am at the Faith Christian Center, 95 Sagamore Rd., Seekonk.
Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven cemetery.

Gonzalo Melo Fonseca

Gonzalo Melo Fonseca
PAWTUCKET – Melo Fonseca, Gonçalo, 97, of Norman Ave., died at home Saturday, June 6, 2009.
He was the husband of Georgelina (Rocha) Melo.
Born November 16, 1911, in Santo Antao, Cape Verde Islands, he was a son of the late Profirio Mateus Fonseca and Isabel Melo.
He worked as a teacher for 47 years.
After his retirement, he moved to Lisbon, Portugal and then to Providence, RI in 1976.
In addition to his wife of 67 years, he was also the father of 12 children, Osvaldo, Isa, Isabel, Maria Amelia, Jose, Antonio, the late Pedro, Amilcar, Aldina, Maria, Anibal and Euclides.
He was the grandfather of 14 and great grandfather of 6.
His funeral will begin Thursday at 10am in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence.
Burial will follow at the Swan Point cemetery.
