Mary C. (Healy) Mitchell, 86, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at Kent Hospital on Wednesday, December 22, 2010. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late John F. Healy and Delia B. (Charbonneau) Healy. She was the wife of the late Ernest L. Mitchell.

Mrs. Mitchell was a Homemaker who enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening, and spending time with her family and friends.

She leaves her daughter, Lois J. Higgins of North Kingstown. She was the grandmother of Kevin M. Higgins, Jr. and his wife Sharon S. of Scarsdale, NY, and the great-grandmother of Caroline J. Higgins, Cole P. Higgins, Cameron J. Higgins, and Caitlin S. Higgins, all of Scarsdale, NY. She was the sister of the late Loretta Whitman and Virginia Jenkins.

Her funeral was held on Friday, December 24, 2010 at 9:00 am in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial followed in Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home on Thursday, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to The Macular Degeneration Association, P.O. Box 20256 Sarasota, FL 34276 will be appreciated.

Michelle A. “Shelly” Hardman
November 6, 2010

Michelle A. “Shelly” Hardman, 37, of Cowesett Avenue, West Warwick, passed away Saturday at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Providence, she was a beloved daughter of Cynthia (Pontbriand) Lopes of South Kingstown and the late John Hardman.

Shelly was a Food Processor for Stop & Shop and D'Angelos . She was also a volunteer for Odyssey in Warwick.

She was the loving sister of Lynn-Marie and her husband Robert Bates of Hope. Cherished companion of Jeremy Clevenger. Caring niece of Roger, Albert, Louis, Robert, David and John Pontbriand, Lizette Kaufman, Barbara Fahey and the late Donna Christie. Devoted aunt of Leah Marie Hardman, Savannah Hardman and Faith Bates. Godmother of Dillon Fahey.

Her Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 am in THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick . Relatives and friends are invited. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Burial private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to The American Heart Assn., 1 State Street, Suite 200, Providence, RI 02908 would be appreciated.

Donato “Don” Paolucci
November 25, 2010

Donato “Don” Paolucci, 93, of North Kingstown, died suddenly at home on Thursday, November 25, 2010. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Constantino and Elena (Benedetti) Paolucci. He was the loving husband of Ida M. (Bellmore) Paolucci.

After honorable discharge from the Army Air Corps during WWII, he worked for Eldredge Oil Co. He was a volunteer Firefighter for 43 years for East Greenwich Station #2. He was an active member of both the RI Antique Fire Apparatus Society and the E.G. Fireman's Associations. He also enjoyed making wooden toys which he sold at local craft shows.

Besides his wife of sixty eight years, he leaves his two children: Donato F. “Donnie” Paolucci of North Kingstown and Suzanne M. D'Amico and her husband David of Warwick. He leaves one granddaughter, Jennifer L. Willis and her husband Jody of Exeter and one great-grandson, Joshua L. M. Willis of Exeter. He was the brother of Constance Conway of Florida and the late Paul Paolucci.

His funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2010 at 11:00 am in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in Elm Grove cemetery. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to The East Greenwich Veterans Fireman's Association Truck Fund, 80 Queen Street, East Greenwich, RI 02818 would be appreciated.

Dennis J. “Brillo” Pimentel
October 31, 2010

Dennis J. “Brillo” Pimentel, 58, of Coventry passed away Sunday at Kent Regency. He was the beloved husband of Joanne (Dawson) Pimentel. Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Manuel and Josephine (Rita) Pimentel.

Mr. Pimentel was a Warehouse Supervisor for the State of Rhode Island at Rhode Island College. He was also employed for many years at the Ladd Center in Exeter prior to his assuming his position at Rhode Island College. He was a caregiver to all he knew. He enjoyed gardening and was extremely knowledgeable in many facets of repair.

He was the loving father of Abby Marie Pimentel of Coventry. Caring brother of Thomas Pimentel of Hope and the late Richard Pimentel. Cherished uncle of Justin Pimentel of Coventry.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:00 am in SS John and Paul Church, South Main Street, Coventry. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 5-8 pm in THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, gifts in his memory to The Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6 th floor, Brookline, MA 02445-7226, ATTN: Contribution Services would be appreciated.

Mary C. (Williams) Smashe
November 29, 2010

Mary C. (Williams) Smashe, 82, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at Kent Hospital on Monday, November 29, 2010. Born in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late John J. Williams and Irene C. (McConnell) Williams. She was the wife of the late Frank Smashe.

Mrs. Smashe was a Realtor for the former Post RoadRealty of North Kingstown and Coldwell Banker until her retirement. She was a founding communicant of St. Francis de Sales Parish of North Kingstown, where she also served on the Women's Guild. She was a member of the VP8 Alumni Association Naval Squadron and the National Association of Realtors. Mrs. Smashe loved gardening and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She leaves her four children: Mary Ann Berard of North Kingstown, Karen L. Smashe of North Kingstown, Patricia M. Wilkins of Saunderstown, and James F. Smashe of North Kingstown. She was the loving grandmother of Jason J. Wilkins of North Kingstown, Peter J. Wilkins of Coventry, Gerald J. Wilkins of Taunton, MA, Ericka L. Berard of North Kingstown, Kevin P. Berard of Warwick, and great-grandmother of Taylor J. Wilkins, Aiden J. Wilkins, and Collin J. Wilkins, all of Coventry. She was the loving sister of Barbara Colley of DeBerry, FL and the late John T. Williams, Francis Williams, and Raymond A. Williams.

Her funeral will be held on Monday, December 6, 2010 at 8:45 am from THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Francis De Sales Church, 381 School Street, North Kingstown. Burial will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to St. Francis de Sales Capital Campaign, 381 School Street, North Kingstown, RI 02852, would be appreciated.

Frances (Ross) Vardakis
November 13, 2010

Frances (Ross) Vardakis, 87, of Warwick passed away Saturday at home. She was the wife of the late George Vardakis. Born in Pawtucket, she was a daughter of the late John and Sophia Ross.

Mrs. Vardakis was a Co-Owner of Mr. V's Steak House in Coventry. She was a member of Church of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and its Philoptohous Society.

The family wishes to thank the Odyssey Hospice Caregivers for their compassion and kindness.

She was the beloved mother of Mark Vardakis of Chelsea, MA, Paul Vardakis of Athol, MA and Tina Vardakis of Warwick. Caring sister of Peter Ross of Seekonk, MA and the late Arthur, John and Tim Ross, Annie Zotos and Catherine Nanos. Loving grandmother of four.

Her Funeral Service will be held Friday at 10:00 am in Church of The Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston. Burial will follow in Walnut Hill cemetery, Pawtucket. Alan H. 'Frenchie' French
December 3, 2010

Alan H. 'Frenchie' French, 89, of North Kingstown, died peacefully at home on Friday, December 3, 2010. Born in Boston, MA he was a son of the late Henry W. French and Charlotte G. (Nelson) French. He was the loving husband of Joan P. (Harris) French.

Mr. French worked for the U.S. Government as a Supervisor at CBC Davisville for thirty years until his retirement in 1976, as well as the former Wickford Mobile Station for over 30 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during WWII, where he survived Pearl Harbor and Saipan. Mr. French was a member of the VFW Post 152 of North Kingstown where he served as Quarter Master for the Post and for District 3 of RI, South County Chapter 998 of the National Active Retired Federal Employees, FOP Lodge 33 of North Kingstown, and a former Scout Master for Troop 2 of Wickford for 20 years. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Wickford.

Besides his wife, he leaves his four sons: James A. French of Cochranville, PA, William F. French of Newport News, VA, David H. French of North Kingstown, and Robert A. French of Cutter, ME. He was the father of the late Sandra L.L. French and Barbara E. Pfremmer. Cherished Grandfather of 10 Grandchildren and 6 Great-Grandchildren. Loving brother of Frances S. Pollard of Snellville, GA, and the late Charlotte G. Duff, Virginia E. Brooks, Dorothy Fryar, and Henry W. French, Jr..

His Requiem Eucharist will be held on Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at 10:00 am in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 55 Main Street, Wickford.

Burial will follow in the RI Veterans Memorial cemetery, Exeter.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 pm in THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD, 140 West Main Street, Wickford Village, North Kingstown.

Marie M. (Glenn) Madden
December 4, 2010

Marie M. (Glenn) Madden, 95, of Old Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland, formerly of Ferncrest Drive, Pawtucket, passed away Saturday at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. Marie was the wife of the late Jean D. Madden, Sr. for 72 years.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, Marie was a daughter of the late Matthew T. and Margaret (Burke) Glenn.

Mrs. Madden was a parishioner of St. Teresa Church in Pawtucket for over 60 years.

Marie was active for many years in the St. Raphael Academy Ladies Auxiliary, Providence College Veridames, St. Joseph Senior Citizens and a volunteer at Memorial Hospital for many years.

Marie was the beloved mother of Jean D. Madden, Jr. and M. Glenn Madden, both of West Warwick.

Loving grandmother of Kathleen E. Rainone, David M. Madden and Thomas M. Madden. Cherished great grandmother of six.

Caring aunt of Nancy Lapointe and the late Maurice Madden, III.

Marie was the sister of the late Katherine Durning and Matthew, Anna and Marguerite Glenn.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11:30 am in St. Teresa of the Child Jesus Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph cemetery, West Greenwich.

Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 10:30-11:30 am in St. Teresa Church.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in Marie's memory to St. Teresa Church, 358 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, RI, 02861 would be appreciated.
