Carmen J. Giannattasio
Marine Corps veteran of World War II
Carmen J. Giannattasio, 83, of Foote Street, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at the Evergreen House Health Center in East Providence. He was the husband of the late Irene (Medeiros) Giannattasio.
Born in Barrington, a son of the late Felice and Rosaria (Gentile) Giannattasio, he was an automobile salesman for Tasca Ford in East Providence for 40 years before retiring.
A United States Marine Corps veteran of World War II, Mr. Giannattasio was a communicant of Holy Angels Church.
He leaves a son, William C. Giannattasio of East Providence; and several nieces and nephews. He was a brother of the late Angelo Giannattasio, Gary Gentile, Concetta DiMatteo and Filomenia Giannattasio.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 9 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, in Holy Angels Church, 341 Maple Ave. Burial, with military honors, will follow at the Rhode Island veterans Cemetery in Exeter. Arrangements were by the Cremation Society of Rhode Island.
Constantino A. Vasconcellos
World War II veteran, foreman at Fulflex factory
Constantino (Connie) A. Vasconcellos, 79, of Mount Hope Avenue, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at the Rhode Island Veterans’ Hospital. He was the husband of Mary Isabel (Pacheco) Vasconcellos.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late Ernest and Mary Isabel (Cabral) Vasconcellos. He lived in Bristol for 56 years since moving from Somerset where he lived for the previous 23 years.
Mr. Vasconcellos was a foreman at Carr Fulflex for 38 years before retiring in 1984.
He served in the Air Force during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign and the European African Middle Eastern Theater Campaign.
Besides his wife, he leaves two daughters, Eileen Emery of Tewksbury, Mass., and Paula Wolfang of Warren; four grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
He was the brother of the late John and Antone Vasconcellos.
Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Dec. 18, from the George C. Lima Funeral Home with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth Church. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Emilio E. Faiola
Army veteran; born in Barrington
Emilio E. Faiola, 80, of Westerly, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Brookside Villa Nursing Center in Coventry. He was the husband of Ruth (Bercovitz) Faiola.
Born in Barrington, a son of the late Innocenzo and Maria (Zomparelli) Faiola, Mr. Faiola was a graduate of Rhode Island College and received a master’s degree from the University of Connecticut.
He taught English at Babcock Junior High School in Westerly for over 30 years before retiring, and was a member of the Rhode Island Retired Teachers Association.
A United States Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Josiah Broadfoot Chapter of the DAV, and the Harley P. Chase VFW Post in Pawcatuck, Conn.
He enjoyed doing home improvements.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Mark F. and Stephen Faiola, both of Westerly; a daughter, Marilyn "Mimi" Whitebone of Holbrook, Mass.; two brothers, Roy Faiola of Taftsville, Conn. and Edward Faiola of Manhattan, Kan.; and a sister, Rita Clark of Taftsville. He was a brother of the late Paul and Robert Faiola.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 17 in the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home. Burial with military honors followed in St. Sebastian Cemetery.
Jenna Justine Cabral
Jenna Justine Cabral, the infant daughter of Antonio and Gina (Tebano) Cabral of Warren, died Monday Dec. 9, 2002, at Women and Infant’s Hospital in Providence.
Besides her parents, she leaves a sister, Jordan Cabral of Petaluma, Calif.; her maternal grandparents, Armando and Raffaela Tebano of Bristol; her paternal grandparents, Antonio and Maria Cabral of Bristol; and many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was also the sister of the late Justin A. Cabral.
Delia L. Ventura
Worked for Anderson Little,
St. Anthony Church member
Delia L. Ventura, 78, of 124 Gormley Ave., Portsmouth, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Newport Hospital. She was the wife of Manuel D. Ventura to whom she had been married for 55 years.
Born in Newport on Nov. 21, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Manuel and Fanny (Escobar) Raposa.
Mrs. Ventura had worked as a sewer for the Anderson Little Clothing Co. in Fall River for 31 years before retiring in 1977. She then worked as a waitress at Tremblay’s restaurant.
She was a member of the Amalgamated Clothing Workers Union.
She was also a communicant of St. Anthony Church, Portsmouth.
Besides her husband, she leaves several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late George Raposa.
Her funeral was held on Saturday, Dec. 14, from the Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Anthony Church. Burial was in Trinity Cemetery, Portsmouth.
Eleanor C. Taylor
Former owner of Ellie’s, Frosty Cottage restaurants
Eleanor C. "Ellie" (LaBelle) Taylor, 84, of New Bedford, formerly of Westport, died Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2002, at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility after a brief illness. She was the widow of Dr. Morrill Padelford, Henry Perry and Charles W. Taylor, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Josie M. (Dow) LaBelle. She lived in Westport the greater part of her life before moving to New Bedford.
She spent many of her early years on Martha’s Vineyard where she was remembered as one of the LaBelle girls.
Mrs. Taylor was the former owner and operator of Frosty Cottage Restaurant in Oak Bluffs, Martha’s Vineyard. She worked as head supervisor at the Westport High School cafeteria and then owned and operated Ellie’s Restaurant in Westport. For a time, she worked at P.J. Kelly’s Restaurant in Dartmouth.
She leaves three stepdaughters, Barbara Orff of Florida, Shirley Zamoida of New Hampshire and Carol A. Mosher of Westport; a stepson, Gordon Taylor of New Hampshire; a sister, Mildred D. Briggs of Jensen Beach, Fla.; a godchild, Jo Ann Briggs of Martha’s Vineyard; several nieces and nephews; and a friend, Mona MacNaughton of Dartmouth. She was the sister of the late Beverly Andrews.
Her graveside memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road.
William H. Fezette
Silversmith, former member of planning board
William H. Fezette, 78, of 25 Lincoln Ave., Tiverton, died Thursday, Dec. 12, 2002, at crawford Skilled Nursing, Fall River. He was the husband of Diana (Lopoulos) Fezette. They had been married for 50 years.
Born in Fall River, the son of the late Charles and Julia (Kelly) Fezette, he was a lifelong resident of Tiverton.
Mr. Fezette had been a sliversmith at Reed & Barton, Taunton, Mass., for many years before retiring.
He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a member of the veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was a former member of the Tiverton Planning Board.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Steven M. fezette and William J. Fezette, both of Tiverton, and four grandchildren.
His funeral was held Monday, Dec. 16, from the Auclair Funeral Home, Fall River, with a funeral Mass in St. Theresa Church, Tiverton. Burial was in Pocasset Hill Cemetery, Tiverton.
Howard C. Mosher
Chemical engineer was active in Masons
Howard Cornell Mosher, 87, of Westport, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002, at home after a long illness. He was the husband of Anne (Seaman) Mosher and the widower of Wenona A. (White) Mosher of Stillwater, Maine.
Born Dec. 6, 1915, in Dartmouth, he was the son of the late Chauncey Ruoff Mosher and Mabel Whalon Cornell Mosher. He lived in Dartmouth for many years before moving to Westport.
Mr. Mosher was educated in Dartmouth schools. He studied analytical chemistry and engineering at the University of Maine at Orono whre he played trumpet in the marching band.
He was employed as a chemical engineer in charge of the chemical and rubber laboratories at Mine Safety Appliances of Providence until his retirement.
Mr. Mosher was a 32nd degree Mason and was long active in that body, where he held a number of current Masonic memberships. He was awarded the prestigious York Cross of Honor and the Ben Hurd Award.
He was a past master of the Noquochoke Lodge; past high priest of the Royal Arch Chapter; past illustrious master of the New Bedford Council, Royal and Select Masters; past commander of the Sutton Commandery; past prior of the Roger Williams Priory, Knights of York Cross of Honor; and past high priest of the Adoniram Royal Arch Chapter.
He was also a member of the Abraham Howland Jr. Lodge, the Fall River Council of Royal and Select Masters and the Convent General Knights of the York Cross. He was a past patron of the Cortez-Allen Eastern Star.
During his many years in Dartmouth, he was very involved in the community. He was a member and chairman of the Dartmouth Planning Board and served on the Park Board and Soil Conservation Board. He was a past member of the District 3 Call Fire Department and was a former Dartmouth Town Meeting member.
He was a member of the American Chemical Society and the American Society for Quality Control.
A nature and animal lover, Mr. Mosher was an avid reader who especially favored mysteries and local historical accounts. He enjoyed humorous books and is remembered for his quick wit, story telling prowess and hearty laugh.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, Leroy C. Mosher and his wife, Ruth, of Black River, N.Y.; a stepdaughter, Deborah A. Russo and her husband, Adrian, of Somerset; two stepsons, Wayne A. Seamen and his wife, Karen, of Hooksett, N.H., and Hank Seaman and his wife, Susan Pawlak-Seaman of North Dartmouth; two grandchildren, Saabrina W. Mosher of Bangor, Maine, and David H. Mosher of Stillwater, Maine; three step-grandchildren, Kristen Seaman of Greece, Errol Borden of Fall River and Jennifer Seaman of Hooksett, N.H.; and several cousins.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 28, at Westport Point United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Road.
Marcel L. Geoffrey
Worked at former Boston Store for many years
Marcel Lawrence Geoffrey, 87, of 511 Child St., died Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2002, at the Rhode Island Veterans Home in Bristol. He was the husband of Claire (Rainey) Geoffrey. They were married 52 years.
Born in Warren on Aug. 10, 1915, he was the son of the late Alphonse and Marilda Geoffrey.
Mr. Geoffrey had worked for 47 years at the Boston Clothing in Rhode Island, retiring in 1986.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the Narragansett Fire Company for over 30 years. He was a former treasurer of the Catholic Order of Foresters, and a member of St. Jean Baptiste Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Donna G. Hawley of Warren; two brothers, Hubert Geoffrey of Warren and Edward Geoffrey of Barrington; a sister Jacquline Sepe of Warren; and two grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Reginald and Jeannette Geoffrey.
A memorial service for Mr. Geoffrey will be held in the Rhode Island Veterans Home, 480 Metacom Ave., Bristol, at its next scheduled service in January, 2003. Burial will be private.

Douglas R. McKellar
High school junior, formerly of Warren
Douglas R. McKellar, 16, of Melbourne Beach, Fla., died Monday, Dec. 2, 2002.
Born in Providence on April 26, 1986, he was a son of Mark McKellar and Leslie Hoyt and lived in Warren until he moved to Melbourne, Fla., in 1998.
He was a junior at Melbourne High School and was a member of Boy Scouts of America Troop 330. He enjoyed playing paint ball and loved art and drawing. He wanted to be a film director.
Besides his parents, he leaves a brother, Trevor; his maternal grandparents, Anne Varnit and Russell Hoyt; his paternal grandmother, Ruth McKellar, and many friends.
His funeral was held on Friday, Dec. 6, at the Eastminster Presbyterian Church in Indialantic, Fla. His burial will be in Florida Memorial Gardens.

Stanley Marszalek
World War II veteran, cafe owner
Stanley Marszalek, 86, of Greenwood, Miss., died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at Monfort-Jones Hospital, Kosciusko, Miss. He was the husband of Julia Taylor Marszalek.
Born in Warren, he was a son of the late John and Jadwiqa (Sisck) Marszalek. He had retired to Greenwood in 1975.
Mr. Marszalek, together with his late father, owned and operated the Marszalek Cafe on Water Street for many years.
An Army veteran of World War II, serving as a medic, he received numerous decorations, including a certificate of commendation for outstanding and meritorious service in the Battle of El Guettar. He was a member of the American Legion, in Warren, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He had been a member of the Warren Volunteer Fire Department, Narragansett Station.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Greenwood.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, James Marszalek of Coventry and Guy Marszalek of Guilford, Conn.; a stepson, William Paul Jaudon of Waveland, Miss.; a stepdaughter, Mary Julia Beck of Birmingham, Ala.; two sisters, Mary Daughty of Webster, Mass., and Gloria Zietler of Bristol; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
His funeral service and burial were in Greenwood, Miss.
