Thomas Lamora
Maintenance supervisor,
World War II Army veteran
Thomas Lamora, 85, of Warren, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the Grace Barker Nursing Center. He was the husband of Eugenia (Kaminski) Lamora.
The son of the late Amos and Mary (Lamora) Lamora, he was a lifelong Warren resident.
Mr. Lamora was a maintenance supervisor for Banister House in Providence. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Company C, 326th Glider Infantry Regiment in Europe.
He was a communicant of St. Mary of the Bay Church, and was a member of the Warren chapter of the Disabled American Veterans.
Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Thomas and Andrew Lamora, both of Bristol, and Ludwik Lamora of Warren; a daughter, Barbara Nestell of New Hampshire; 14 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was the father of the late Patricia O’Brien, and brother of the late John, Joseph and Beatrice Lamora, Marion Medeiros and Delia Carter.
His funeral was Wednesday, Aug. 14, from the William J. Smith and Son Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Mary of the Bay Church. Burial followed in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery.

Thomas Lamora, 85, of Elm Street, died Monday, Aug. 12, 2002, at the Grace Barker Nursing Center. He was the husband of Eugenia (Kaminski) Lamora.
The son of the late Amos and Mary (Lamora) Lamora, he was a lifelong Warren resident.

His funeral is Wednesday, Aug. 14, at 8 a.m. from the William J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, 15 Church St., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Mary of the Bay Church on Main Street. He will be buried in St. Mary of the Bay Cemetery.
Lorinne T. Knight
Lived in town for 50 years
Lorinne T. Knight, 86, of Winthrop Drive, died Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002 at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence. She was the wife of the late Max M. Knight.
Born in Baxter, Iowa, a daughter of the late John W. and Jennie L. (Goodwin) Troxel, she had lived in Barrington for 50 years.
Mrs. Knight was a 50-year member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Barrington, and a lead volunteer for the Encore Consignment shop at St. John’s Church. She was a graduate of the University of Iowa. She leaves a son, Steven T. Knight of New York, N.Y.
A memorial service will be held in St. John’s Episcopal Church, County Road, at a time to be announced. Burial will be private.
William F. Yeagley
World War II Navy veteran, former electronic engineer
William F. Yeagley, 82, of Fairview Drive, died Saturday, Sept. 7, 2002, at Charlton Memorial Hospital in Fall River. He was the husband of Thelma E. "Tedy" (Darby) Yeagley.
Born in West Reading, Penn., a son of the late Alfred and Marian (Darby) Yeagley, Mr. Yeagley lived in Bristol for 45 years.
He worked for 23 years at the Naval Underwater Systems Center in Middletown, before retiring in 1985. He previously worked at the Naval War College in Newport, where he worked on the development and building of the naval warfare training simulator.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and a 1942 graduate of Purdue University. Mr. Yeagley was a member of the Purdue University Alumni Association, as well as St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and King Solomon’s Lodge 11 F. and A.M., East Greenwich.
Besides his wife, Mr. Yeagley leaves two sons, William A. Yeagley of Burke, Va., and Geoffrey L. Yeagley of North Providence; two sisters, Mary Muzyka of Trenton, N.J. and Margaret Crowell of Princeton, N.J.; and four grandchildren.
His funeral service and burial were private.
Jennie R. Kitch
Worked at Nadeau’s Pharmacy, active in church
Jennie R. (Cochrane) Kitch, 86, of 51 Middle Road, Portsmouth, and formerly of Festival Fields Apartments, Newport, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at Village House, Newport.
Born in Portsmouth, she was the daughter of the late Ainsworth and Margaret (Tarr) Cochrane.
Mrs. Kitch had been employed as a clerk for Nadeau’s Pharmacy in Island Park and on East Main Road from 1950 to 1960, and later had worked as a housekeeper at Newport Hospital until she retired.
She was a member of the Portsmouth United Methodist Church, where she served as superintendent of Sunday school for 15 years.
She leaves a son, Norman "Owen" Kitch of Groveland, Fla.; and six grandchildren.
A memorial service date will be announced in October.
Ethelyn L. Chaffee
Insurance underwriter lived here 15 years
Ethelyn L. Chaffee, 81, of Bay Spring Village, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2002 at Miriam Hospital in Providence.
Born in Enosburg Falls, Vt., a daughter of the late Lloyd and Ethel (Ball) Chaffee, she had lived in Barrington for 15 years.
Miss Chaffee was an insurance underwriter at Kip I. Chase Jr. Insurance Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1987, and had also worked for Davis, Bateman and Nugent Co. She was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, the Barrington Women’s Club, the Bristol County Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR), and volunteered at the Hamilton House. She was an avid bridge player and gardener.
She leaves a twin sister, Elizabeth B. Chaffee of Barrington, another sister, Charlotte C. Leatherman of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. She was a sister of the late Esther E. Nichols.
A memorial service was held Friday, Sept. 6, in St. John’s Episcopal Church on County Road. Burial followed in the Enosburg Center Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.
Arthur R. Cordeiro
Former resident,
World War II veteran
Arthur R. Cordeiro, 78, of Blairsville, Ga., died Nov. 23, 2002, at Chatuge Regional Hospital in Blairsville. He was the husband of Carole (Roddy) Cordeiro.
Born in Fall River, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Tavares) Cordeiro. He lived in Georgia, Florida and Bristol, where he was a 1942 graduate of Colt Memorial High School.
Mr. Cordeiro worked in sales for more than 30 years before retiring in 1999.
He served as a medic in England and France during World War II, and was a deacon for more than 30 years at First Church of God in Vero Beach, Fla.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Steve Skowronski of Peachtree City, Ga., and John Cordeiro of Blairsville; a stepson, Ed Via of Dundalk, Md.; a daughter, Nancy Cordeiro of Blairsville; three stepdaughters, Sarah Francine Williams and Patricia Birge, both of Winter Haven, Fla., and Cheryl Fletcher of St. Pierce, Fla.; three brothers, Richard Cordeiro of Portsmouth, Ernest Cordeiro of East Hampton, Conn., and Raymond Cordeiro of Bristol; 15 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was also the brother of the late John Cordeiro, Robert Cordeiro and Evelyn Rainey.
A memorial service will be held at the First Church of God in Vero Beach, Fla., at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
Delcia Pimental Plamondon
Loved to make floral arrangements
Delcia (Cyr) Pimental Plamondon, 80, of 7 Creek Lane, died Friday, Nov. 29, 2002 at Silver Creek Manor. She was the wife of the late Harvey J. Plamondon.
Born in Caribou, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Cyr.
Mrs. Plamondon lived in Bristol, moved to Connecticut, and moved back to Bristol. She worked at Ames Department store in Connecticut before retiring in 1997. She also worked at Ingersol-Rand in Connecticut and the former Carr-Fulflex Company in Bristol.
She was a communicant of St. Mary Church, and loved to make floral arrangements to share with her family and friends.
Mrs. Plamondon leaves two daughters, Bernice E. "Bunny" Correira of Bristol and Mona Carotenuti of Johnston; three sons, Kenneth and Richard Pimental of Bristol, and Anthony Pimental Jr. of East Providence; a son-in-law, Manuel Correira of Bristol; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
She was also the mother of David Pimental.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian burial Friday, Dec. 6, at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Church. Burial will be private.

Jennie E. Costa
Loved knitting, gardening and baking
Jennie E. (Vargas) Costa, 79, of 93 Bristol Ferry Road, died Saturday, Nov. 30, 2002, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Goulart) Vargas.
Born in Bristol, she lived here her entire life before moving to Portsmouth five years ago.
She was a jewelry worker for 15 years at the former R and J Manufacturing Company of Warren. She also worked for the former Josephine’s Gift Shop of Bristol.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Church, and loved knitting, gardening and baking.
She leaves a daughter, Pamela J. Benjamin of Portsmouth; a brother, Joseph Vargas of Bristol; and two sisters, Mary Morgan and Alice Rodrigues, both of Bristol.
She was also the sister of the late Frank Vargas and Emily Marshall.
Her funeral services were held Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2002, with a Mass of Christian burial at St. Elizabeth Church. Her burial was private.

Maryann Griffo
Tiverton resident, earned degree from R.I. College
Maryann (Cahir) Griffo, 67, of 34 Lawton Ave., Tiverton, died on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2002, at home. She was the wife of the late Leonard Paul Griffo.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Henry T. and Anne (Brooks) Cahir.
Mrs. Griffo received a bachelor’s degree in English from Rhode Island College in 1957.
She was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church, Tiverton.
She leaves three daughters, Kathleen M. Sullivan of Danbury, Conn. and Michaela M. and Jennifer Adams, both of Bloomfield, Conn.; two brothers, Thomas H. Cahir of South Bend, Ind., and Michael B. Cahir of Arlington, Va.; and four grandchildren.
Her funeral was held on Tuesday, Dec. 3, from the Connors Funeral Home, Portsmouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Christopher’s Church. Burial was in St. Columba Cemetery, Middletown.
