Wajih Naji Mazloum

Description:
Waiih Naji Mazloum of New Orleans, LA, died February 1, 2015, at the age of 28. Wajih was a second year law student at Tulane University, where he served as a student attorney and research assistant in the university’s Environmental Clinic.

Wajih was born March 2, 1986, in Tripoli, Lebanon, to Naji Mazloum and Marilene Melhem Mazloum. Shortly after, the family immigrated to the United States. He attended the Gordon School, the Wheeler School, and Barrington high School, and graduated in 2003. Following his graduation, Wajih studied abroad in Paris.

A graduate of American University, Wajih received both a Bachelor’s of Science in Finance and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Law and Society in 2008. He obtained a Master’s of Business Administration at University of Rhode Island in 2010, before accepting a position as a financial analyst from Schlumberger in Dubai.

He is survived by his parents, Dr. Naji Mazloum and Marilene Melhem Mazloum, a civil engineer, of Barrington, R.I.; one brother, Hanni Mazloum, a mechanical engineer; paternal grandmother, Ezzat Mazloum; maternal grandfather, Michel Melhem; aunts and uncles, Theo Melhem and wife, Hannie, of Paris, France; Joe Melhem and wife, Tania, of Paris; Carol Moufarrej and husband, Marwan, of Dubai, UAE; Dr. Bassem Mazloum and wife, Tracy, of San Antonio, TX; and Soha Mazloum Hamdi and husband, Talal, of Tripoli, Lebanon; cousins, Vanessa Melhem, Jennifer Melhem, Michel Melhem, Agathe Melhem, Souhiel Mouffarej, Mira Mouffarej, Mira Hamdi, Karim Hamdi, Maya Hamdi, Bryce Mazloum and Miles Mazloum.

He was preceeded in death by his maternal grandmother, Odette Melhem, and his paternal grandfather for whom he was named, Wagih Mazloum.

Wajih was a loving son, unconditional in his friendships, and a savior of homeless kittens.

At Tulane, Wajih was at the happiest time of his life, elated to be fulfilling his long term dream of becoming a lawyer.

He performed tremendous public service to the city of New Orleans, as a lawyer in training.

He will be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor, a kind and generous heart, that helped friends in need, during their life crises.

He had the rare gift of connecting with people, befriending them, and supporting them in their troubled moments.

Calling hours will be held for him on Wednesday 11-Feb-2015 in the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave, Riverside, RI from 5-8 PM. A Memorial service will be held at Manning Chapel on Brown University grounds on Thursday 12-Feb-2015 at 10:30 AM followed by burial at Forest Chapel Cemetery on Nayatt Rd, Barrington RI. In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to Providence Animal Rescue League online or to Whitmarsh Group Home PO Box 72832 in Providence, RI 02907.

Pauline Fanelli

Description:
Fanelli, Pauline, 71, formerly of 401 Willett Avenue, Riverside and Crescent View Avenue, died peacefully on November 2, 2009 at the Philip Hulitar Impatient Center, Providence. She was the wife of the late Gerald A. Fanelli.

Mrs. Fanelli lived in Riverside 41 years and was a presser at the Riverside Cleansers for 15 years before retiring in 1991. She is survived by a daughter; Pamela A. Delle Femine and her husband David of Seekonk, MA and a son; Jeff J. Fanelli of Bellingham, MA.

Her funeral will be held on Friday November 6, 2009 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 7:45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 9 am. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours are Thursday 4-8 pm.

David J. August Jr.

Description:
August, David, J., Jr., 37, of Carpenter Avenue, died unexpectedly on November 3, 2009. He was the husband of Michelle A. (Lembo) August.

Born in Providence, he is the son of David J. August Sr. and Edna (Nichols) August of Seekonk, MA.

A lifelong resident of Barrington, Mr. August was the owner and operator of the August Painting Co.

Besides his wife and parents, he is survived by two daughters; Samantha Marley August and Danielle Lee August, a son; David Joseph August III all at home in Barrington, three sisters; Barbara J. Bell of Seekonk, MA, Shirley A. Pine of Taunton, MA and Lisa M. Reynolds of Bristol, two brothers; Vincent W. Pagnano Sr. of Barrington and Robert V. August Sr. of Clearwater, FL and several nieces and nephews.

His funeral service will be held on Saturday November 7, 2009 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 11 am. Burial will follow in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Warren. Calling hours are Friday 5-8 pm.

Angelo J. Di Quinzio

Description:
Di Quinzio, Angelo, J., 82, of Maple Avenue, died peacefully on November 5, 2009 at the Philip Hulitar Impatient Center, Providence.

A lifelong resident of Barrington, he was the son of the late Grazio and Margaret (Cuzzone) Di Quinzio.

Mr. Di Quinzio was the owner and operator of A. Di Quinzio Rug Center, Warren for 36 years before retiring in 2002.

Angelo was a communicant of Holy Angel Church. He was a life member of the Bristol Elks Lodge and a member of the Warren Italian American Club. Mr. DiQuinzio was a United States Navy Veteran serving during World War II.

He is survived by two sons; Robert J. Di Quinzio and his wife Robin of Barrington and Roger A. Di Quinzio and his wife Helen of Coventry, two brothers; Carmen Di Quinzio and Romeo Di Quinzio, both of Barrington, four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Tina Poalozzi, Domenic and Alfred Di Quinzio.

His funeral will be held on Monday November 9, 2009 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 8 :45 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angel Church, Maple Avenue, Barrington at 10 am. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Santa Maria del Campo Cemetery, Upland Way, Barrington. Calling hours are Sunday 4-7 pm.

Matthew D. Starring

Description:
Starring, Matthew, D., 23, of Sowams Road, Barrington, died peacefully on November 8, 2009 at home surrounded by his loving friends and family after a three year battle with leukemia.

Born in Providence, a loving son of Mark D. and Jayne B. (McFetters) Starring of Barrington, he was a lifelong resident of Barrington.

Matthew was a graduate of Barrington High School Class of 2004 and was a student at Emerson College in Boston, MA.

A singer and song writer, Matthew was the musical director of “Noteworthy” an a cappella group at Emerson College.

Besides his parents, he is survived by a loving sister; Allison J. Starring of Barrington, maternal grandmother; Mary Jane (Peck) McFetters of Barrington and paternal grandparents; Ellsworth A. Starring of Barrington and Phyllis J. (Knapp) Evans of Michigan. He was the grandson of the late George W. McFetters Sr. Matthew touched the lives of everyone he met.

A celebration of his life will be held Wednesday November 11 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside with calling hours from 4-8 pm. A memorial service will be held on Thursday November 12 in St. John’s Episcopal Church, County Road, Barrington at 10:30 am. Burial will be held in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington.

John J. Buzzi

Buzzi, John, J., 83, formerly of Chapel Road, Barrington, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2010. He was the husband of Marie Hazel (Wood) Buzzi.

Born in Milton, MA, a son of the late John and Mary (Fontana) Buzzi, he lived in Barrington for 50 years and Riverside since 2004.

Mr. Buzzi served in the United States Navy for 22 years serving during World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam Era. Upon retiring, he worked for Browne and Sharpe and the State of Rhode Island.

John was a greeter, usher and communicant of St. Luke Church. He was a life member of the West Barrington Men’s Club, former officer of the Bristol County Elks, member of the Riverside Bishop Hickey Council Knights of Columbus and a member of the Tin Can Sailors Association of the U.S. Navy Destroyer Veterans and the Fleet Reserve Association, being a Past President of this group.

His passions in life were carpentry, gardening, traveling with his children and enjoying his dog; Max.

Besides his wife of 61 years, he leaves an extended loving family of 6 daughters; Marie and her husband Peter Carreiro of Barrington, Karen and her husband Richard McLaughlin of Warwick, Kathy and her husband Russell Woodward of Port St. Lucy, FL, Debra and her husband David Wieners of Fulton, NY, Donna and her husband Randall Lee of Londonderry, NH, MaryJo and her husband Franklin Osgood of Providence, 3 sons; James Buzzi and his wife Maria of Riverside, Jon Buzzi of Pascoag and Andrew Buzzi of Boston, MA. He was the grandfather of 18; Allison, Erica, Lindsay, Ryan, Chris, Jamie, Jessica, Adam, Sereth, Crossy, Brendan, Cara, Terren, Caity, Mike, Melissa, Nick and Eric. He was the great grandfather of 3; Elijah, Jack and Luca. He was the brother of Marie Leone of Mashpee, MA and the uncle to Michael and Jan Leone.

Calling hours will be held on Friday March 12, 2010 from 4-8 in the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday March 13, 2010 at 10 am in St. Luke Church, Washington Road, Barrington. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.

Armand G. Caruolo

Caruolo, Armand, G., Jr., 81, of Riverside and Prudence Island, died Sunday May 2, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Cynthia (Noyes) Caruolo.

Born in Providence, a son of the late Armand G. and Assunta (Marandola) Caruolo, he lived in Riverside since 1951. A former beautician, he was a graduate of the Community College of Rhode Island and Rhode Island College. He was employed for a number of years at the then Fleet Bank.

Mr. Caruolo served in the Army National Guard.

He is survived by his children; George and Thomas Caruolo of East Providence, Carolyn D’Aiello of East Providence, Cheryl Comley of Little Compton and Cynthia Gallant of Barrington as well as his ten grandchildren. He also leaves his brother; Robert Caruolo of Seekonk, MA and his sister; Janet Giarrusso of Marble Head, MA.

His funeral will be held on Thursday May 6, 2010 at 8:45 am from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Burial will follow in Forest Chapel Cemetery, Nayatt Road, Barrington.

Calling hours are Wednesday 4-7 pm. Flowers are respectfully omitted. Contributions in Armand’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN, 38148-0142 would be deeply appreciated.

Thomas A. Gontarek

Gontarek, Thomas, A., Jr., 50, of Muriel Street, Riverside, died unexpectedly on June 24, 2011. He was the beloved husband of Sharon A. (Crowley) Gontarek.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of Thomas A. and Josephine (Berkauzer) Gontarek, both of Little Compton.

Mr. Gontarek was the owner and operator of TAG Chauffeur Service of Riverside for the past five years. He previously worked in the Public Safety Dept. at Roger Williams University, Bristol for 25 years.

Thomas was member of the East Bay Chamber of Commerce. He was a former Bristol Boy Scout Leader and Bristol Little League coach. He enjoyed spending time with his family.

Beside his wife of 29 years, he is survived by a son; Justin T. Gontarek of Warwick and his fiancé Kristyn Benedetti, a daughter; Ashley M. Gontarek of Riverside and her companion Carlos D. Medeiros, a brother; Kevin Gontarek and his wife Susan of Nebraska, a uncle; Joseph Berkauzer of Holland, PA, nine nieces and nephews and brother-in-laws; Dan Crowley and his wife Janice of North Kingstown, John Crowley of Stamford, CT and Michael Crowley of Bristol.

His funeral will be held on Friday July 1, 2011 from the W. RAYMOND WATSON FUNERAL HOME, 350 Willett Avenue, Riverside at 9 am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside at 10 am. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday 4-8 pm.
