Peter G. Morris, Sr.
November 25, 2011

PAWTUCKET - Peter G. Morris, Sr., 89, of Parkview Drive, died Thursday, November 17, at home. He was the husband of Alice (Barros) Morris and the late Arlene O. (Henderson) Morris.
Born in Mathews County, VA, a son of the late Milton Morris, Sr. and Carrie (Allen) Morris, he was a resident of Pawtucket for over seventy years.
He worked in Maintenance for Rhode Island Industries for over fifty years.
Mr. Morris was a very active member of the Union Baptist Church, Pawtucket, and the NAACP. He was honored by the Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce for his commitment to community service, and was instrumental in the hiring of the first African-American Police Officers and Firefighters in the City of Pawtucket.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one daughter, Geraldine Sasser of Atlanta, GA; four stepdaughters, Valerie Yarborough of Memphis, TN, Lisa Wright, and her husband Jeffery, of Quincy, MA, Karen Augustin, and her husband Schiller, of Randolph, MA, and Andrea Monteiro, and her husband John, of Randolph, MA; eleven grandchildren, Dawn Foster, and her husband Drubayn, Tonya Banks, Ernest Baldwin, Jr., John Yarborough, Lenise Horner, Justin Wright, Schiller Augustin, Jr., Stephen Augustin, Shari Augustin, Audrianna Monteiro, and Jonathan Monteiro. He was the father of the late Peter G. Morris, Jr., and the brother of the late Milton Morris, Jr., Alvin Morris, Frances Kenan, Katherine Jones, and Ruby Francis.
His funeral will be held Wednesday, November 30, at 11:00 a.m. in Union Baptist Church, 50 Lupine Street, Pawtucket. Burial, with military honors, will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the church, Tuesday from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m., and Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to Home & Hospice Care of R.I., 1085 North Main Street, Providence, R.I. 02904, would be appreciated. Ralph Paul Folan

NORFOLK, VA - Ralph Paul Folan, 55, passed away Friday, October 21, 2011. Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, May 6, 1956. He was the son of the late Francis and Margaret (Asermely) Folan.
A loving husband and father, Ralph was a firm believer in providing and sacrificing for his family. In 1973, he joined the United States Navy, where his passion for subMarines emerged. He devoted himself to the Navy and made his way through the ranks. During his time in the Navy, he developed a love of cooking, which he shared with his fellow servicemen, family and friends. After dedicating 30 years of service, as a Chief Petty Officer he retired in 2004 with an honorable discharge due to his health. As a veteran, Ralph would have proudly continued to serve his country.
Ralph, a loving husband and proud father, is survived by his wife of 21 years, Glendale Folan and his children, Whitney Folan, Shamekia and husband Tasho Marsh, Joseph Pinckney and wife Keshia, Ira Pinckney and wife Nikayla. He was the devoted brother of Ellen Mulkerrins, Edward, John, Carol, Robert, Darlene, Kenneth, Patrick and Kevin Folan, Marjorie Fortin, and the late Francis Folan Jr., Barbara Folan and Daniel Folan. Five grandchildren, Daxton, Mia, Giovanni, Reagan and Ryan, and several nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A mass will be held at Holy Family Parish, Saturday, November, 26 at 8 a.m. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans.

Barbara A. Swiech

SOUTH ATTLEBORO - Barbara A. (Wunschel) Swiech, 79, passed away Wednesday, November 23, 2011. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward Swiech, Sr. Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Carl and Helen (Popiolek) Wunschel, she resided in South Attleboro since 1955. Barbara was employed by Royal Electric, Pawtucket, for over thirty years until retiring. She leaves two daughters, Kathleen Boisvert and her husband, Wayne of Seekonk and Deborah A. Swiech-Simpson of Attleboro; a son, Edward Swiech, Jr. and his wife, Sonya in Pennsylvania; six grandchildren, Michael and David Boisvert, Edward, III and Heather Swiech, Danell and Johnny Simpson and two sisters, Helen Cook of Cumberland and Carolyn Eno of Pawtucket. Her funeral will be held Saturday at 9 a.m. from WILLIAM W. TRIPP Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave., Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at10 a.m. in St. Theresa of the Child Jesus Church, 18 Baltic St., South Attleboro. Interment will follow at Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. VISITATION Friday 4 to 7 p.m. Memorial gifts to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., P.O. Box 9376, Framingham, MA 01701-9376 will be appreciated.

Anthony E. Ferri
November 22, 2011

Anthony E. Ferri, "Uncle Tony" or "Papa Tony" was born in Providence. He resided in Central Falls, and was a member of the Central Falls Fire Department in the fifties. While a firefighter, he chaired one of the first fighters Muscular Dystrophy drives. Tony was an excellent cook, running the Luncheonette at the YMCA in Pawtucket. He would often volunteer his cooking skills at Holy Trinity Church and many other organizational functions.
He drove tractor trailers and buses, and an ambulance for Rhode Island Hospital.
Tony was a World War II veteran and was a past Garfield Amvets Post Commander. He was very active in the Garfield Social Club and chaired the Scholarship Committee for many years. Tony was a fourth degree member and past Grand Knight of the Sullivan Council Knights of Columbus. He was also past President of the former Holy Trinity Holy Name Society and bowled in the Holy Trinity men's bowling league.
He loved the Boston Red Sox particularly "Teddy Ballgame." He was a Providence College Basketball season ticket holder.
Tony loved traveling with his wife of 67 years, "Dot". Perhaps his best quality was his love of socializing with people. He truly enjoyed life and he lived like the Christmas Classic, "A Wonderful Life."
Tony is survived by his sons Ronald E. Ferri and his wife Barbara of West Hartford CT, Robert A. "Bob" Ferri and his wife Bernadette of Central Falls, his daughter Linda M. Ferri of Warwick, his sister Rosa Janelle of N. Providence, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Arthur, Frederick, Edward, Marshall, William and Eleanor Ferri and Catherine Simonetti.
His funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30 am from the Lincoln Funeral Home, 1501 Lonsdale Ave., Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in Holy Spirit Parish (St. Matthew Church), Dexter St., Central Falls. Burial will be in Mt. St. Mary's Cemetery, Pawtucket. Calling hours are Friday from 4-8 pm. Donations in Tony's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 would be appreciated.

Margaret M. Flanagan

PAWTUCKET - Margaret M. Flanagan, 87, of Chatham, New Jersey and formerly of Pawtucket, RI, passed away Saturday, November 19, 2011. She was the wife of the late Thomas J. Flanagan Jr.
Born in Providence, RI, she was the daughter of the late John and Margaret (Ryan)Meehan. She is survived by three sons, Thomas Flanagan of Rowayton, CT, Robert Flanagan of Bethesda, MD, and James Flanagan of Chatham Township, NJ, a brother, George Meehan of Brooklyn, CT. She also leaves six grandchildren. She was the sister of the late John Meehan Jr.
The funeral will be held Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 9:30am from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in Saint Leo The Great Church, 697 Central Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Mount Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visitation 9;30 - 10:30am, prior to the mass in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Sister's of Christian Charity, 350 Bernardsville Road, Mendham, NJ 07945 would be appreciated.

Odna Lamarre

PAWTUCKET - Odna "Odie" Lamarre, 104, of Lincoln and formerly of Pawtucket, passed away Monday, November 21, 2011. She was the wife of the late Joseph N. Fontaine and of the late Jeremie Lamarre.
Born in Warwick, she was the daughter of the late Telesphore and Emma (Gauthier) Dugas. Mrs. Lamarre lived most of her life in Pawtucket. She was a former member of the Fogarty Manor Association, Pawtucket, a former member of Saint Anne's Society and the choir at Notre Dame Church, Central Falls. She was a longtime member of Saint Teresa's Church Choir, Pawtucket.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Aline Lanoue.
The funeral will be held Friday, November 25, 2011 at 9AM from the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30AM in Saint Teresa Church, 358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket. Relatives and friends are invited. Visiting hours Friday 9-11am in the funeral home prior to Mass. VIRGINIA - Doris Shanaghan, 89, of Fairfax Station, VA and formerely of Pawtucket, RI died November 19, 2011 at Fairfax Nursing Center. Loving wife of the late William J. Shanaghan. Daughter of the late Edwin and Florence (Oldrid) Lomas. Devoted mother of Peter E. Shanaghan and his wife Connie Jackson Shanaghan of Fairfax Station, VA and the late Michael W. Shanaghan. Cherished grandson William Jacob Shanaghan, and numerous nieces and nephews. Sister of Ethel Bradley of Middletown, RI and the late Herbert Lomas, Emma Misiewicz and Harry Oldrid.
A funeral gathering will be held Saturday at 9:30 am in the Merrick R. Williams Funeral Home 530 Smithfield Ave. Pawtucket with a funeral service at 10:30 am in St. Luke's Episcopal Church 670 Weeden St. Pawtucket. Calling Hours Friday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Burial will be in Moshassuck Cemetery. Contributions may be made in Doris' memory to the St. Luke's Episcopal Church Memorial Fund.

Robert Joseph Parker

ATTLEBORO - Robert Joseph Parker, 95, of Attleboro, on November 21, 2011. Beloved husband of the late Amelia (Krol) Parker. Survived by his children; Robert F. Parker and his wife Lynda of Venice, FL, and Christine Staples and her husband Stephen of Mansfield, a brother, Frederick Parker of Plainville, five grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a daughter in law; Stacia Parker of Attleboro, and many nieces and nephews. Father of the late Dennis W. Parker, Sr. and brother of the late William Parker.

John E. Entwistle

REHOBOTH - John E. Entwistle, 91 years old, died in Golden Living Garden Place, Attleboro on Friday afternoon following a lengthy illness.
Born in Cumberland, RI son of the late Herbert and Evelyn (Martin) Entwistle. He was educated in Pawtucket, RI Schools and served in the US Navy serving a medic in WW II and Korean Conflicts. John was employed by Englehardt in Plainville for years and retired as a security officer at ICI in Dighton. He was an accomplished Trap Shooter receiving many awards and he enjoyed fishing. John was a member of the Rehoboth Baptist Church. He was a member of the American Legion Post in Rehoboth.
He is the husband of Anne Marie (Santis) Entwistle of Rehoboth and is the father of Melissa Ann Martin and her husband Timothy of Carey, NC and Timothy Entwistle and his wife Margaret of Assonet. He is the grandfather of 5 and he is the brother of Alice Quinn of Lincoln, RI, Eleanor Scofield of Cumberland, RI and Herbert Entwistle of Lincoln, RI and the uncle of several.

Delores B. Correia

EDGEWATER, FL - Delores B. Correia, 85, of Edgewater Florida and former resident of Lincoln, RI passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2011.
She was the wife of John Correia and daughter of the late Joseph and Melvina (King) Primeau. Mrs. Correia was a medical records administrator for many years in the office of Dr. Joseph Doll in Pawtucket, RI.
She is also survived by her daughters, Maureen (Joseph) Martin, Karen Deleo and Dr. Kathleen (Joseph) Leahy, and a son, Francis (Debbie) Correia. Mrs. Correia was the sister of Ellen Quinn of Pawtucket and Dorothy Iandoli, Joan Coleman and John Primeau of Venice, FL. She leaves behind many loving grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in Edgewater on Monday, November 21, 2011.

Marilyn J. Arage

CUMBERLAND - Marilyn J. (Hughes) Arage, "Merry", passed away on Sunday at the Philip Hulitar Center, Providence after her courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Pawtucket RI in 1942, daughter of the late Capt. Peter H. Hughes (retired) of the Pawtucket Police Dept. and Irene D. (Williamson) Hughes.
She is survived by her three loving daughters and their families: Linda and John Macchi and their sons, Kyle, Benjamin and Connor of Northborough MA; Colleen and Steven Carr and their children, Kelsey and Derek and Steve, Tyler and Kaitlyn of Cumberland; Melissa and Kevin St. Jean and their children, Bethany and Brad. She is also survived by her brother, Robert P. Hughes and his wife Christina of Torrance CA and their son, Justin of Cranston.
Marilyn helped establish, along with the late Rev. Joseph T. Hughes, the Religious Education Program at St. Aidan's Church in Cumberland where she served as the CCD Coordinator for 10 years. Marilyn was featured in the Diocesan Providence Visitor in 1986 for her dedication to the Ministry. She also served on their Parish Council for many years. Later, she worked for Burnes of Boston in Smithfield until the company moved to Texas. She has been employed by Tanya Creations, Inc. of East Providence as their Credit Manager ever since.
The happiest moments in Marilyn's life was the time she spent with her family and the quality time she shared with her grandchildren who lovingly called her Nonnie. She treasured each one of them. Besides the deep love and closeness she shared with her children, her grandchildren just lit up her life.
A celebration of her life will be held Saturday at 9 AM from the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Rt. 122, Cumberland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 AM in the St. Aidan Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting Hours will be held Friday from 4 to 8 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated at www.StJude.org or 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105-1942.

Hector Castro

PAWTUCKET - Hector Castro, 64, of Sea Biscuit Place, passed away Sunday November 20, 2011 after an illness. He was born in Brooklyn, NY a son of the late Braulio and Petra (Irizarry) Castro. Hector moved to Rhode Island in 1981 and settled in Pawtucket. He will be greatly missed by all his friends at the Arc of the Blackstone Valley.
He leaves 2 sisters, Monica Seda Castro of Pawtucket, Josefina Rivera of FL, 2 brothers, Braulio Castro Jr. of Puerto Rico and Jose H. Castro of NY. He also leaves his beloved niece, Denise Seda Castro and other nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Service will be held MONDAY at 11 am in the Charles Coelho Funeral Home, 151 Cross St. Central Falls. VISITATION on SUNDAY, 2 until 5 pm. Interment will be in No. Burial Ground, Providence.
