Glenn R. Cunningham

Glenn R. Cunningham, 70, of Heroux Blvd., died Sunday in the St. Antoine Residence, North Smithfield. He was the beloved husband of Priscilla (Lugn) Cunningham.
Born in Pawtucket he was the son of the late Samuel and Lenna (Atwell) Cunningham. He was raised in Nova Scotia returning to Cumberland at the age of six. and resided in Cumberland for the rest of his life.
Mr. Cunningham was a Cumberland High School Graduate and had earned his Associate Degree from Dean Junior College and his Bachelor Degree in Music from Acadia University, Wofveille, Nova Scotia. He earned his Masters Degree in Guidance and Counseling from Providence College.
He was a retired school teacher for 33 years with the Pawtucket School Department. Mr.Cunningham was also an organist and choir director at various area churches for 55 years, most recently at the Candleberry Chapel, So. Main St., Attleboro. Mr. Cunningham was also an avid dog lover.
Besides his wife he leaves one daughter, Dawn A. Froonjian of Stafford Springs, CT. One son, Shawn G. Cunningham of Attleboro. He was the half brother of William D. Cunningham of Oregon and brother of the late Donna Brackett and Joanne Cunningham.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday with services at 10 a.m. in the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Rd. Rt. 122, Cumberland. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Calling hours Friday from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Candleberry Chaple, 381 South Main St., Attleboro, MA 02703.
Raymond A. Valentine

East Providence - Raymond A. Valentine, 85, of Irving Avenue and formerly of Arlington Drive, Lincoln died Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Linn Health Care Center, East Providence. He was the beloved husband of Janice (Harrop) Valentine.
Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Andrew E. and Florence (Reddington) Valentine, he had lived in Lincoln for 32 years before moving to East Providence 25 years ago.
Mr. Valentine was an assistant manager at Harrop's Pharmacy, Pawtucket before working at Shephard's Department Store and Gladdings. He later worked as the cremationist at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence for 20 years retiring in 1992. He had also worked part-time for Bellows-Falso Funeral Chapel, Lincoln.
He was a World War II Navy veteran and a member of St. Jude's Church, Lincoln.
Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Brother Enoch John Valentine of Providence; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late C. Edward, Francis, Robert, Thomas and Henry Valentine, and Catherine George and Madeline McNeilly.
His funeral will be held SATURDAY, OCTOBER 30 at 8:45 A.M. from the BELLOWS-FALSO FUNERAL CHAPEL, 160 River Road, Lincoln with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 A.M. in St. Jude's Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery, Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call FRIDAY 2-4 & 7-9 P.M. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Valentine's memory to St. Jude's Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln, RI 02865 would be appreciated.

TOLEDO, OH - Glenn J. Ames, age 55, professor, scholar and author, died on October 14, 2010, of cancer. Glenn received his Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota in 1987. Glenn was a professor of history at The University of Toledo for the past 20 years. During that time he published widely regarded books and articles which were focused on the subjects of early modern Europe and the history of European expansion. He received many awards including a Fulbright grant, fellowships from the American Institute of Indian Studies, the Portuguese Ministry of Education, and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation of Lisbon. Dr. Ames has spent more than five academic years undertaking archival research in France, England, the Netherlands, Portugal and India.
Glenn's passions in life were, foremost, his children Miranda, age 16 and Ethan, age 14; his work; his colleagues; his travels throughout the world; his joy of cooking and camaraderie with his friends; and his passion for the issues of the world. In addition to his children, he will be sorely missed by his mother, Janet E. Ames, his brothers, Gregory, and his wife, Wendy, and George, and his wife, Debbie, his Rhode Island family and his friends, too many to list, in Toledo, Rhode Island, Portugal and India. He is predeceased by his father, George E. Ames.
A Memorial Service will be held at Smithfield Avenue Congregational Church, 514 Smithfield Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02860 on October 30, 2010 at 1:00pm. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider a charity of the donor's choice.

CENTRAL FALLS - Frances G. “Fran” Rochette, 77, of Washington Street, Central Falls, died Sunday at the Memorial Hospital of RI, Pawtucket.
Born in Central Falls, she was a daughter of the late Alphonse and Blanche (Mouillierat)Rochette.
A graduate of Notre Dame High School, she was a member of the Notre Dame Crusaders Marching Band, performed in many local musicals and was a former member of the Notre Dame Church Choir. In her free time she enjoyed playing the piano, drawing and painting.
She worked several years for Dr. Armand Gareau, DDS; Notre Dame Hospital; and was a secretary for Dr. Gilbert Altongy; all in Central Falls. She later worked in the office for Quincraft.
She is survived by her sister, Eva St. James of Attleboro and a brother, Joseph Rochette of East Providence. She was the sister of the late Rita Gaboriault, Ovila M. Rochette and Mary J. Carvalho. She leaves many nieces and nephews.
The celebration of her life will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday from the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Cumberland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Fatima Drive in Cumberland. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Mary Cemetery. Relatives and friends are kindly invited and may call from 9 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. John P. Lubera

PAWTUCKET- John P. Lubera Sr. 87, formerly of Roosevelt Avenue passed away at the VA Medical Center in Providence Monday October 25, 2010. He was the beloved husband of the late Jennie (Cordeau) Lubera.
Born in Fall River he was a son of the late Michael and Catherine (Strycharz) Lubera he was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket.
Before retiring he was employed as a Truck Driver for the former B. J. Kirk Transportation Co. of Pawtucket for many years. He was a Member of the Teamsters Local #251.
Mr. Lubera was a WWII Navy Veteran serving as a Boatswain's Mate Second Class. He was a member of the Fierlit-Korzen A.L. Post #79 of Central Falls.
He leaves 3 loving sons John Lubera Jr. and his wife Dorothy of Pawtucket, Willie Lubera and his wife Dita of Lincoln and Michael and his wife Kim of Burriville, 1 brother Michael "Mickey" Lubera of Central Falls, 2 sisters Irene Walsh of Kingston and Anne Paquette of Trumbull, CT., 7 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Sophie Siwy, Jennie Petcavage, Theodore, Joseph, Walter, Stanley and Joseph Lubera.
His funeral with Military Honors will be held Saturday October 30, 2010 at 8:30 AM from the Karol A. Romenski & Sons Funeral Home 342 High Street Central Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Consolation Church Sabin Street Pawtucket at 10 AM. PAWTUCKET - Mary T. (Pise) Dill, 86, of Pawtucket passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010. She was the wife of the late Frank A. Dill.
Born in Central Falls she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Morietho) Pise. She is survived by a daughter, Deborah Silva of Georgia; a son, Dennis Dill of California; a brother, Frederick Pise of Warren; four grandchildren, Cory Silva of Texas, Derek Silva of Pawtucket, Alison Dill and Derrick Dill both of California and a great granddaughter, Caydence Silva of Texas.
A service will be held Saturday, October 30, 2010 at 11am in the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.

BURRILLVILLE - Gladys Bradbury (Armitage), 100, died October 26, 2010. She was the wife of the late James E. Bradbury. Mrs. Bradbury was born in Bradford, England a daughter of the late William and Lily (Vosper) Armitage. She had lived most of her life in Pawtucket. She was a member of St. Luke's Episcopal Church. She is survived by 2 daughters Barbara Tordoff of Glendale and Nancy Prete of North Providence, 7 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday at 10am in the Merrick R. Williams Funeral Home 530 Smithfield Ave. Pawtucket. Calling hours will be held one hour prior to funeral service. PAWTUCKET: Amalia Marques, 81, passed away in her grand-daughter's arms and surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, October 26th.
She is survived by her husband, Armindo; her son Luis, her daughters Maria and Lourdes; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind four brothers and a sister.
Amalia was born in Portugal, lived and worked most of her life in Pawtucket. She loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She will be missed and forever loved.
Visitation will be held Friday, Oct. 29th from 5pm - 8pm, in the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Avenue, Lincoln, RI.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, October 30th at 9 am, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony's Church, 32 Lawn Avenue, Pawtucket, RI. Burial will be in Swan Point Cemetery.

CENTRAL FALLS: Fanny Judith Alzate, 66, passed October 26th 2010 surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Medellin, Colombia, the daughter of the late Horacio and Pacifica (Monsalve) Alzate.
Fanny was a well-known seamstress in the Hispanic community and also a proud Mary Kay representative for over 20 years. She is survived by her four children, Mauricio, Diego, Marcela and Juan David Garces, ten grandchildren, a great grandson and five siblings, Julio, Hernando, Ramon, Nora and Socorro Alzate, all of Colombia.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 3-5pm at the Keefe Funeral Home, Five Higginson Ave, Lincoln. Burial will be private.

CENTRAL FALLS - Mafalda Mendes Barros, age 69, of Cross St., died at home Saturday morning, Oct. 23, 2010. She was the wife of Daniel Conceicao Barros.
Born June 10, 1941, in Praia, Cape Verde Islands, she was a daughter of the late Teofelo Correia Mendes and Maria Dias.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Alexandrina, Danielson, Auxilio, Helder, Jaime G., Arthur J., Paulo C., Justilino, and Maria Conceicao; 27 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Carlos Alberto.
Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-5pm and also Saturday from 2-5pm in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence. A memorial service will take place Sunday, Nov. 7, at 2pm in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 290 Arcade Ave., Seekonk, MA. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

CENTRAL FALLS. Jeanne H. Godin, 85, formerly of Washington Street, passed into eternal life on Sunday at the Ballou Home in Woonsocket after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Victor E. Godin.
She was born in Central Falls, a daughter of the late Joseph A. and Rose Alba (VanDale) Durand and lived all her life in the city until moving to Woonsocket 8 years ago. Jeanne had been employed as a teller at the former Credit Union Central Falls, now Navigant Credit Union, for more than 17 years. She had been a communicant of the former Notre Dame Church and was a member of the Ste. Anne Sodality of that parish. She was also a member of the Notre Dame Seniors.
She leaves 2 sisters, Theresa Porter her principal caregiver and Pauline Chabot both of Cumberland, nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 8:45 Am from the CHARLES COELHO Funeral Home, 151 Cross St. Central Falls with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Joan of Arc Church, Mendon Road Cumberland at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday morning prior to the funeral. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery, Pawtucket.
