Helen Drohan

Drohan, Helen Anne

Helen Anne Drohan, 92, of Seekonk, passed away Sept. 28, 2013 surrounded by her family.

Helen was born Sept. 13, 1921 in Bridgeport, Conn. to the late Blanche and Peter Kazin.

Helen wed the late William J. Drohan from Seekonk April 7, 1951 and had 46 years of happy marriage.

As a young child, the family moved to Providence, R.I. where Helen attended Providence schools graduating from Mount Pleasant High School in 1940. During WWII, Helen was one of the many women who occupied traditionally men's jobs and operated a crane for the New Haven railroad. In 1944, she was interviewed for and aired by a Providence radio station for her role. Helen later went on to become a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company for the next nine years.

For most of her adult life Helen resided in Seekonk. In 1998, she moved to a retirement community in Herndon, Va. to be closer to her children. In 2012, she moved to an assisted living facility, Monroe House, in Sterling, Va.

Helen loved to play cards, bingo, celebrate holidays and birthdays, listen to Red Sox games and be with her family and friends.

Helen is survived by her children Barbara A. Drohan-Ballard of Williamsburg, Va., William M. Drohan of Great Falls, Va. and Patricia E. Drohan of Reston, Va.; and her three grandchildren Michael L. Drohan of Washington, D.C., Elizabeth E. Ballard of Baton Rouge, La. and Patrick L. Drohan of Charleston, S.C. She was preceded in death by her three brothers Frank, John and Peter Kazin.

Burial in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Helen's memory may be made to Capital Caring, 209 Gibson Street, NW, Suite 202, Leesburg, VA 20176.

Raposo, Raquel M., age 59, of Parsons Ave., died September 27, 2013 at the Miriam Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of John M. Raposo. They were married for 33 years.

Americo I. Soars

PAWTUCKET - Americo I. Soares, 88, of Glenwood Avenue, died Wednesday at Cherry Hill Manor Nursing Center, Johnston, RI. He was the husband of the late Benvinda A. Soares.
Born in Portugal, he was the son of the late Pedro Inacio and Maria (Amelia) Soares before living the last 27 years in Pawtucket.
He was a jewelry polisher in the jewelry industry in Rhode Island for many years before retiring.
Mr. Soares leaves his two daughters, Anna Maria Verissimo of Pawtucket and Maria Fatima Tavares of Orlando, FL, a nephew Antonio Manuel Soares of Seekonk and a niece, Adelaide Soares Amaral of New Bedford, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
There will be a Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Soares in Our Lady of The Rosary Church, Traverse Street, Providence on Monday at 10:00 am.
Calling hours are from 8:30 am in the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence.

Robert B. Field

RIVERSIDE: Robert B. Field 71, formerly of Monroe Ave, passed peacefully at Charlesgate Nursing Home. He was the husband of Elaine (DosSantos) Field. They have been married for 50 years.
Born in Providence, a son of the late Walter and Dorothy (King) Field.
He had been employed by the Pawtucket School Department for over 25 years retiring due to illness and had previously been employed by Gilbane Corp.
Besides his wife he is survived by a daughter, Debra Segalla and her husband Angelo, two grandchildren, Brett and Austin Segalla.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 2nd from 3:30 to 5:00pm followed by prayer service at 5pm. Burial will be private.

Born in Providence, a daughter of the late Anthony and Emily Folco. She leaves 5 Children; Kathy Gardner, Cheryl Beaudreau, Joseph McWilliams, Timothy McWilliams, Kelly Landry-McWilliams and was mother of the late James McWilliams. She also leaves 18 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Services are private. In lieu of flowers donate to your favorite charity.

SEEKONK - Anita M. Allen 93 formerly of Chappell Street died Tuesday, December 28, 2010 at Garden Place Nursing Home, Attleboro. She was the wife of the late Howard E. Allen.
She was born in Pawtucket a daughter of the late Olympio and Rose (Massari) Poli.
Mrs. Allen leaves two daughters, Anita Comeau of Attleboro and Earlene John of Seekonk, one son, Dennis Allen of Florida, eight grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. She was the mother of the late Timothy Allen.
Her funeral will be held on Friday at 9:30 A.M. from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME 2555 Pawtucket Ave. East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. in Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Taunton Avenue, Seekonk. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

He was the husband of Linda (Childs) LaBelle. They had been married 39 years.
Besides his wife Mr. LaBelle is survived by his children Joey LaBelle, and April LaBelle, his grandson Brandon LaBelle and nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Roy LaBelle.
There will be a funeral service for Mr. LaBelle Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at 10:00am in the MANNING-HEFFERN FUNERAL HOME, 68 Broadway, Pawtucket. His burial with full Military Honors will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter RI.

PAWTUCKET - Adelaide P. (Babel) Browning, 92, passed away Friday, December 24, 2010. She was the wife of the late Robert Browning.
Born in Cranston she was the daughter of the late Paul and Adelaide (Zucknick) Babel.
Mrs. Browning lived most of her life in Pawtucket. Her family owned the Westwind Restaurant in Seekonk. She is survived by her daughter, Carol Quinlan of Rehoboth and her son, Stephen Browning of Texas. She was also the sister of the late Paul and Rudy Babel.
A service will be held Friday, December 31, 2010 at 12 PM in the COSTIGAN-O'NEILL Funeral Home, 220 Cottage Street, Pawtucket. Burial will be private.Visiting hours 11 AM-12 PM, prior to the service.

BROOKLINE, NH - Hilda G. Doll, 104, resident of Brookline, NH, died December 27, 2010 at the Community Hospice House, Merrimack, NH, surrounded by her family.
She was born in England on July 29, 1906, a daughter of Walter and Maryjane(Rothermell) Gregory.
Mrs. Doll made her home in Brookline since 1964 and formerly resided in Pawtucket, Rhode Island for many years. She was a member of the Brookline Community Church.
She spent her life devoted to her family.
She was predeceased by her husband, John M. Doll, who died in 1983.
Family members include her son, John G. Doll of Cranston, RI; two daughters, Nancy A. Walsh of Brookline, NH and Ginni Medeiros of Swansea, MA; four grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Visiting hours are Thursday, December 30th from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am in the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Brookline, NH. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Brookline Ambulance Service, 3 Post Office Drive, Brookline, NH 03033-2152 or Community Hospice House, Attn: Development, 210 Naticook Road, Merrimack, NH 03054. Arrangements are in the care of Smith & Heald Funeral Home, 63 Elm Street, Milford.
