Agostinho Tavares, 76, of James St., East Providence, died at home, Wednesday, March 12, 2014. He was the husband of Maria daGloria (Viveiros) Tavares.

Born June 27, 1937, in Sao Miguel, Azores, he was a son of the late Jacinto Tavares and Maria daConceicao Reis. In Sao Miguel, Agostinho worked at Empresa Inuslar de Electricidade.

In addition to his wife of 55 years, he leaves his children, Ana Maria Linhares, Guida Garcia, Isaura Tavares, Victor Tavares, Rosa Resendes, Oriana Medeiros, Jose Agostinho Tavares, Helena Tavares and Connie Tavares; 21 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; and his sisters, Isaura King and Florinda Reis.

He was also the father of the late Ildefonso Tavares and Florinda Tavares and the brother of the late Eduarda Maciel, Jose Tavares, Manuel Tavares and Antonio Tavares.

His funeral will begin Saturday at 8am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in St. Francis Xavier Church, No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, 5-8pm.

Anthi (Kiamos) Marcou

April 17, 1966 - October 11, 2014
Resided in Barrington, RI

Anthi Kiamos Marcou, 48, of Barrington passed away unexpectedly Saturday, October 11th at RI Hospital.

Born in Nikea, Greece, she grew up in Barrington among many lifelong friends. She was the cherished daughter of Alexandros and Nazaret Kiamos, and the loving wife to Theofanis Marcou.

In addition to her Husband and Father, Anthi leaves behind her children Theo and Alex Marcou, who were truly the center and purpose of her being. She is also survived by her sisters Joanna Kalogeropoulos of Greece and Alexia Hatjopoulos and Cindy Silvia of Barrington. Her many nieces and nephews and Godchildren and friends were what gave her joy and will miss her deeply.

Anthi had a zest for life like no other; it was not a party until she entered the room. Her generosity and loving smile were her trademarks. She was the first to help others; her thoughtfulness immeasurable.

Funeral Services are Thursday at 11am at the Church of the Annunciation, 175 Oaklawn Avenue, Cranston followed by the burial at Forest Chapel Cemetery in Barrington. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-8pm at the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway in East Providence.

Joseph Motta, Jr.

November 9, 1957 - November 6, 2014
Resided in Providence, RI

Joseph Motta Jr., age 56, of Pocasset Ave., died November 6, 2014 at home. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Joseph Motta, Sr and Alzira Travers (Grilo) Motta.

He worked as a Carpenter and was a member of the Carpenters Union Local 94.

He is survived by his children; Joseph Motta and Kristen Motta both of East Providence and Michayla Caffrey of Warwick and 1 granddaughter Brianna.

He was the brother of the late Dennis Motta, Beverly Nerone and Lizette "Betty" LaRosee.

His funeral will begin on Tuesday at 9am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, N. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours are Monday 5-8PM.

Joana S. Fortes

March 10, 1927 - December 26, 2014
Resided in East Providence, RI

Joana S. Fortes, age 87, of East Providence and formerly of Pawtucket, died peacefully Friday, December 26, 2014 at the Rhode Island Hospital. She was the beloved mother of Dr. Victor Manuel Fortes Évora, a Mechanical Engineer at the Naval Undersea Warfare Center, Newport.

Born in Santo Antão, Cape Verde, she was a daughter of the late Miguel Delgado Fortes and the late Rosa Sousa Fortes.

In addition to her son of Narragansett, she leaves her daughter-in-law, Maria Évora, her grandson, William Évora, and her granddaughter, Claudia Évora. She was the sister of the late João Fortes, Senhorinha Fortes of Holland, Manuel Fortes of Portugal, Zinha Epifani of Italy and Peter Fortes of East Providence.

A service for Joana S. Fortes will begin Wednesday at 11am in the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with burial following at the Swan Point Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, 5pm until 8pm in the funeral home.

Odocea C. Nunes

July 2, 1927 - January 4, 2015
Resided in Pawtucket, RI

Odocea C. (Rebelo) Nunes, 87, of Pawtucket, passed away peacefully at Memorial Hospital of RI, surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of Armindo M. Nunes for 62 years. Born in Pawtucket on July 2, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Herminia Rebelo.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her son, Maj.Fernando J Nunes, US Army (Ret), her sister Maria Fonseca and her brother Antonio Rebelo.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son Alberto (Al) Nunes and his wife Gail of Pawtucket, her daughter Madalena (Maddie) Josephs and her husband John of Rumford and her daughter-in-law, Donna Nunes of Yorktown, VA. She leaves 8 grandchildren: Nicholas and Michael Nunes, Sr. Mary Karolyn, FSGM (Alyssa), Sr. Maria Fatima, OP (Ann Marie) and Alan M. Nunes and Andrew, Lindsay and Lauren Josephs, and two great-grandchildren, Julianna and David Nunes. She also leaves her brother Fernando Rebelo, her sister Teresa Monuteaux and many loving nieces and nephews.

She was a presser for many years at Pawtucket Dress Company. A faithful communicant of St. Anthony's Church in Pawtucket, she was a member of St. Anthony's Holy Rosary Sodality, the Holy Ghost Society and one of the founders of St. Anthony's Bread Society. She was a member of the Uniao Portuguesa Beneficente.

She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and took exceptional pride and joy in her family. She will be dearly missed.

Her funeral will be held from the Rebello Funeral Home, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI, on Saturday, January 10th, at 8:30am, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony's Church, Lawn Ave. Pawtucket, at 10am. Burial immediately following at Mt. St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket. Visitation will be on Friday from 4pm-8pm. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations in her memory be sent to the St. Anthony's Bread Society (Food Pantry), 32 Lawn Ave., Pawtucket, RI.

Steven R. Greaves

May 7, 1956 - January 7, 2015
Resided in Rumford, RI

Steven R. Greaves, 58, of Algonquin Rd., Rumford, died peacefully at home early Wednesday morning, January 7, 2015. His beloved wife, Cheryl "Sherry" (Lenling) Greaves, was by his side. Born May 7, 1956, in Providence, he was a son of the late Robert and Marjorie (DeCosta) Greaves.

Steven's greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandson, Ryan Jr., with whom he shared a special bond. He will be remembered as a selfless individual, who was always willing to lend a helping hand, especially to his neighbors.

Steven belonged to the Teamsters Local 251 for many years. He was employed by New England Truck Solutions, whose management team treated Steve with the utmost kindness and generosity throughout his tenure and his illness.

In addition to his wife of 33 years, he leaves his son, Ryan S. Greaves; his grandson, Ryan S. Greaves Jr.; his sisters, Donna Delle Femine, Susan White, Kelly Cipriano and Leslie Genest; his brothers, Scott Greaves and Stuart Greaves; his sister-in-law, Rhonda Mancinho; his brother-in-laws, David Lenling and Christopher Lenling; 20 nieces and nephews; 7 great nieces and nephews; and also his beloved companion, Dozer, his American Standard Bulldog.

His funeral will begin Monday, January 12, at 8:30am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Brendan's Church, Turner Ave., Riverside. Burial will be private. Calling hours will be held Sunday, from 2pm until 7pm in the funeral home. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Jose Oliveira

March 26, 1935 - January 18, 2015
Resided in East Providence, RI

Jose Oliveira, age79, died peacefully on January 18, 2015. He was the loving husband of Maria dos Anjos (Pacheco) Oliveira of 53 years. Born in Sao Miguel, Azores, he was the son of the late Jacinto Oliveira and Maria da Luz (Medeiros) Martins.

He led an Evangelical Home Group for 37 years. He shared his faith through his painting, preaching and his life.

He is survived by his children; Liberal Oliveira of Bristol, RI, Robert Oliveira of Swansea, MA, Ana Aguiar of Dighton, MA, Joseph Oliveira, Jr. of Dedham, MA, 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Manuel Oliveira of East Providence, RI, Liberal Oliveira of Bristol, RI and the late John Oliveira.

His funeral will begin on Thursday at 8:45am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, N. Carpenter St., East Providence, RI. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Gertrude V. Sabourin

March 29, 1920 - September 1, 2013
Resided in East Providence, RI

Sabourin, Gertrude V. (Duffy) died September 1, 2013. She was the wife of the late Raymond H. Sabourin. Mrs. Sabourin was born on March 29, 1920 in Providence, RI., daughter of the late Hugh Duffy and Mary (Eastwood) Mulvaney Duffy. She lived in Rumford for over sixty years, and was an avid reader, enjoyed knitting, and proudly looked after her family.

Mrs. Sabourin is survived by her daughters Elaine Gamache of Grantsburg, Wisconsin and Lori Raskin of Atlanta, Georgia, her sons Raymond J. Sabourin of Riverside, RI, John Sabourin of Barrington, RI and Robert Sabourin of Rumford, RI. She leaves seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

Mrs. Sabourin was the sister of the late Catherine Taber, Alice Corsair, Lucy Forrest, Helen Bailey, Olive Viau, Margaret Corsair, Ruth Gamache, Leonard Duffy, Hugh Duffy, Charles Duffy, William Duffy, Frank Duffy, George T. Mulvaney and Edward Mulvaney.

The funeral for Mrs.Sabourin will be held on Thursday at 9AM from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10AM in St. Margaret's Church, 1098 Pawtucket Ave., Rumford, RI. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence, RI. Visiting hours for Mrs. Sabourin will be on Wednesday from 4-7PM in the funeral home.

Liberato C. da Mota

January 18, 1927 - January 24, 2015
Resided in East Providence, RI

Liberato Carreiro da Mota, 88, of Lyon Ave., East Providence, passed away Saturday, January 24, 2015 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Giselda (Carreiro) da Mota for 64 years and beloved father of Virginia Maria Carreiro da Mota.

Born in Vila da Povoacao, Sao Miguel, Azores, Portugal, on January 18, 1927, he was a son of the late Jose and Maria da Mota. He had lived in East Providence for the last 48 years and had worked at Speidel and later at Scuccato Corp. He was an active parishioner and benefactor of St. Francis Xavier Church and had a great devotion to St. Joseph.

He was the brother of the late Isabel Cabral, Manuel da Mota, Virginia da Mota and Deodata Martins.

His funeral will begin FRIDAY at 9am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, No. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, 5pm until 8pm.

Augusto C. Pereira

February 4, 1929 - January 28, 2015
Resided in East Providence, RI

Augusto C. Pereira, age 85, of East Providence, died peacefully on January 28, 2015 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Laura (Fortunato) Pereira. They were married for 60 years.

He was born in Portugal, a son of the late Felipe and Maria Francisca (da Cunha) Pereira.

Augusto was active in the Portuguese Evangelical Baptist in Fall River for 12 years. He was active as an usher and on the Portuguese Board at the Mt. Hope Community Baptist Church for 30 years. He was an accomplished author of poetry and Biblical writings and published a Christian newsletter. He worked as a weaver for local textile industries.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children Jaime F. Pereira and his wife Maria Helena of East Providence, Carlos F. Pereira and his wife Rita of Seekonk, Paul F. Pereira and his wife Kim of Warwick, Eunice F. Pereira and her husband Floriano of East Providence. He is survived by his grandchildren Sarah Ferro, Rachel Pereira, Andrea Escaler, Ashley Pereira, Olivia Pereira, Joshua Pereira, Michael Pereira, David Pereira, Matthew Pereira, Daniel Pereira and 8 great grandchildren. He was the brother of Argentina Pereira of Lisbon, Portugal, Alfredo Pereira of Almada, Portugal and the late Maria Helena Soares.

Augusto's funeral will begin on Saturday at 8:45am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. The funeral service will follow at 10am in the Mt. Hope Community Baptist Church, 734 Hope Street, Providence, RI 02906. Burial will be in Rumford Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday 4-7pm.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory to the Mt. Hope Community Baptist Church, 734 Hope Street, Providence, RI would be appreciated.
