Doris C. Reilly - Smithfield
Doris C. Reilly of Garden Avenue, Greenville, died Monday, April 26, 2010, in St. Joseph's Medical Center in North Providence at the age of 95.
She was the wife of the late Bernard Reilly who passed away in 1985. Born June 9, 1914, in Warwick, she was a daughter of the late George E. and Jessie M. (Matteson) Ferland. Doris grew up in Providence and was a 1932 graduate of Hope High School. She had been a resident of Greenville since 1954. Doris worked as a bookkeeper for the veterinarian, A.C. Parrillo and the Scituate Animal Hospital for many years. She had previously worked at R.J. Colardo Realty in Johnston and various other offices including Chassee Nursery in Smithfield, and Dunn and Bradstreet and The Outlet Company, both in Providence. Doris was a beautiful seamstress and loved sewing for family and friends. She also enjoyed crocheting and was active in PTA when her children were in school. She was a longtime communicant of St. Philip Church in Greenville where she was a member of the St Philip Sodality, the Rosary and Altar Society and St. Philip's Women's Club.
She leaves two daughters, M. Jeanine Collard of Greenville and Kathleen Iadevaia of Burrillville; a son, Bernard F. Reilly III of Greenville; a sister, Phyllis Hanna of Stoughton, Mass.; and five grandchildren, Michael A. Iadevaia, Lisa A. Devlin, Christian A. Collard, Jeremiah J. Reilly and Eric M. Reilly.
A funeral will be held Friday, April 30 at 9:30 a.m. in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville followed by burial in Elm Grove Cemetery, North Kingstown. Visitation will be private. Doris Y. Lacombe - Lincoln
Doris Y. Lacombe, 79, of Mendon Road, Cumberland, formerly of Manville, died Friday, March 21, at Women and Infants Hospital in Providence.
She was the wife of 57 years of Thomas J. Lacombe. Born in North Smithfield, she was a daughter of the late Josephat and Yvonne (Lafleur) Lafleur. Mrs. Lacombe was a communicant of St. James Church in Manville. She was an avid bowler and a member of the St. John Vianney Bowling League in Cumberland and the Cumberland Senior Center. She also was a member of the Red Hat Society and was an avid reader. Doris treasured spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband she leaves a son, Denis T. Lacombe of Manville; two daughters, Denise Y. Deguire of Pascoag and Louise T. Deneault of Lincoln; a brother, Richard Lafleur of N.H.; two sisters, Lucille Lafleur and Lorraine Scotland, both in Florida; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Normand Lafleur.
Her Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. James Church, Division Street, Manville. Burial in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter, will be at a later date. Calling hours are omitted. Edward D. Woods - Woonsocket
Edward D. Woods, 58, of Diamond Hill Road, Woonsocket, died Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket surrounded by his family and friends.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Henry and Anna (Ruizzo) Woods. He was employed by Woonsocket Sponging Company for a number of years before his retirement five years ago. He is remembered as having enjoyed the outdoors, having barbecues and spending time with family, and while he didn’t play, he liked to watch golf. He was devoted to his dogs Bubbles, Toby, Tiarra and Neige.
He was the dear companion of Yvonne Raymond with whom he resided and like a father to her daughter, Felicia Raymond. He also leaves two brothers, Dennis Woods of Willimantic, Conn., and Donald Woods of Warren, R.I.; and a sister, Carol Woods in Florida. He was the uncle of Jennifer and Jason Woods. His three brothers, Michael, Steven and Frank Woods and his sister, Debbie Woods, preceded him in death.
Edward F. Doonan Jr. - Warwick
Edward F. Doonan Jr., age 65, of Warwick died on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010, at his family’s home in Cumberland after a brief illness.
He was the husband of the late Adrienne J. (Longtin) Doonan. Born in Melbourne, Fla., the son of Edward F. Doonan Sr. of Cumberland, and the late Vivian “Ma” Doonan, he lived in Pawtucket before moving to Warwick in 1979. He attended Holy Trinity School in Central Falls, and was a graduate of Cumberland High School and New England Institute of Anatomy in Boston.
Mr. Doonan was a funeral director and embalmer for more than 40 years, and was associated with the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home in Warwick for the last 33 years, and the Potvin & Cotter Funeral Home in West Warwick for the last 17 years. He was a member of the Rhode Island Funeral Directors Association, the National Funeral Directors Association, Warwick Council # 2295 Knights of Columbus, and Father Wallace Assembly Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a communicant of St. Timothy Church in Warwick.
Besides his father, he leaves two daughters, Lori-Ann Amoroso, of Warwick and Jessica R. Alexander, of Canton, Ga.; a son, Edward F. Doonan III, of Woonsocket; a sister, Susan R. Doonan, of Cumberland; and five grandchildren.
His funeral will be held on Thursday, Dec. 2 at 9 a.m. from the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Spring Green, Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. Timothy Church, 1799 Warwick Avenue, Warwick. Visiting hours are Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
Elizabeth M. Butler - North Smithfield
Elizabeth M. (Gunville) Butler, 81, of North Smithfield, died peacefully Monday, April 7, 2008, in her home, surrounded by her loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She leaves her husband of 60 years, Attorney John J. Butler of North Smithfield; eight children, Sean F. Butler of North Smithfield, Elizabeth A. Butler of Roseville, Calif., Kathleen M. Longano and her husband John of Victoria, Australia, Kevin C. and wife Linda-Jo Butler of Uxbridge, Mass., Brian D. Butler of Uxbridge, Mass., Michael B. and wife Michelle Butler of Weymouth, Mass., James M. Butler of Taunton, Mass., and Julie B. Butler of Lincoln; and eight grandchildren, Michael, Julie Anne and Emily Longano of Victoria, Australia, Matthew Butler of Uxbridge, Christine and Rachel Butler of Uxbridge and Jeremy and Meghan Butler of Weymouth. She was born in East Weymouth, Mass., the daughter of Louis B. Gunville, and Elizabeth (Klinges) Gunville and was a graduate of the 1947 Carney School of Nursing in Boston, Mass. Mrs. Butler worked for many years as a licensed registered nurse, retiring from her career at Veterans Administration Hospital in Providence in 1982. Mrs. Butler enjoyed painting, gardening, playing the organ, her children, grandchildren, family and friends.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 12, at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St. John Vianney Church, Diamond Hill Road, Cumberland. Estelle M. Plante - Cumberland
Estelle M. (Ouellette) Plante, 85, of One Mendon Road, formerly of Ryan Avenue, Cumberland, died Monday at the Woonsocket Health Center.
Born in Amesbury, Mass., the daughter of the late Ludger and Bridget (Proulx) Ouellette, she resided in Cumberland for most of her life. She worked for the Owens Corning Fiberglass Company for 10 years, retiring in 1984. She was a communicant of Historic St. Joseph Church for many years. She leaves four daughters, Yvonne Smith and Louise Savard, both of Cumberland, Gail Vargas of Coventry and Donna Brown of Granville, N.Y.; a son, Gerry Plante of Cumberland; a brother, Norbert Ouellette and a sister, Louise Marquis, both of Amesbury, Mass.; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Frederick Ouellette, Francis Ouellette, Henry Ouellette and Rita Bryant and the great-grandmother of the late Jacob Smith.
Her funeral will be held Saturday, April 12, at 8 a.m. from the J.J. Duffy Funeral Home, 757 Mendon Road, Route 122, Cumberland, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Historic St. Joseph Church, Cumberland. Burial will follow in the Resurrection Cemetery. Evelyn M. Richmond - Glocester
Evelyn M. (Sherman) Richmond, 78, a 60-year resident of Chepachet, died Thursday, March 19, 2009.
She was the wife of the late Stephen C. Richmond. Born in Burrillville, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Anna (Quinn) Sherman. Mrs. Richmond worked for the town of Glocester for 16 years, 12 years as the tax collector, before retiring in 1992. She was the mother of Gwen R. LaRiviere and her husband John P. LaRiviere of Glocester, and the grandmother of Chad R. and Bryan C. Phillips of Glocester. She was the sister of the late Eleanor and Arthur Sherman.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Tucker-Quinn Funeral Chapel, 643 Putnam Ave., Route 44, Greenville. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Burial will be in Acotes Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. In lieu of flowers, donations to Chepachet Fire Department, P.O. George H. Lemire - Cumberland
George H. Lemire, 77, of Delaware Avenue, Cumberland, died March 24 at Landmark Medical Center in Woonsocket.
He was the loving husband of Irene R. (Chartier) Lemire; they had been married for more than 40 years. Born in Central Falls, the son of the late Henry and Aurore (Gaudreau) Lemire, he was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a supervisor for Murdock Webbing in Central Falls for many years until his retirement. Besides his wife he leaves a son, Norman Proctor of Webster, Mass.; two brothers, Robert in Florida and Roland in Arizona; three sisters, Irene Lamontagne of Cumberland and Doris Gingras and Pauline Bertoncini, both of Pawtucket; and several nieces and nephews, among them Ron and Pauline Gingras.
His funeral will be held Friday, March 28, at 9 a.m. from the J. J. Gerard Frappier - Woonsocket
Gerard Frappier, 85, of Park Avenue, Woonsocket, died March 31 at the Philip Hulitar Center.
He was the husband of Theresa (Paris) Frappier. Born in Canada, the son of the late Joseph Frappier, he resided in Woonsocket most of his life and was a communicant of Our Lady Queen of Martyrs Church. He worked for Glasscraft Corporation in North Smithfield for many years, retiring in 1984. Besides his wife he leaves three sons, Gerard Frappier of Norwood, N.C., Robert Frappier of Atlanta, Ga., and Donald Frappier of Cumberland; two sisters, Sister Elizabeth Frappier of St. Hyacinthe, Canada, and Theresa Frappier of North Smithfield; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews. He was the grandfather of the late David Frappier.
His funeral will be held Thursday at 8 a.m. from the J. J. Dorothy Wilkinson - Smithfield
Dorothy (Maillet) Wilkinson, 88, of Limerock Road, Smithfield, died Monday, July 28, 2008, at Elmhurst Extended Care Facility in Providence.
She was the wife of the late Jack Wilkinson. Born in Tignish, Prince Edward Island, Canada, a daughter of the late Thomas John and Fidelis (Gaudet) Maillet, she had lived in Smithfield for the past 45 years. Mrs. Wilkinson was a seamstress in the textile industry before retiring. She was a member of the Melody Hill Golf Club. She leaves two daughters, Eileen Gauthier of Plymouth, N.H., and Dee Moniz of Smithfield; two sisters, Rita Hunt of Lincoln and Stella Healey of Burrillville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Eugene Maillet, Mae Brunelle and Winifred Molineux.
A prayer service will be held Saturday, Aug. 2, at 1 p.m. at Bellows-Falso Funeral Chapel, 160 River Road, Lincoln. Burial will be private. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday from 6-8 p.m.
Earl F. Berard - Woonsocket
Earl F. Berard, 82, passed away Aug. 12, 2008, at Mount St. Francis Health Center in Woonsocket.
Born Aug. 5, 1929, in Woonsocket, he was a son of the late Joseph and Rena (Ducharme) Berard. He was the beloved husband of 60 years of Therese (Gagne) Berard of Woonsocket; the loving father of Louise T. Christie of Mystic, Conn., Suzanne I. Langlois in Georgia, and Yvette M. and her husband Thomas J. Plouffe of Woonsocket; and the devoted grandfather of eight and great-grandfather of six. He was the brother of the late Russell R. Berard.
A lifelong resident of Woonsocket, he was the plant manager for Exercycle Corp. until retiring. He also worked for Century 21 as a Realtor for seven years, worked at Electric Boat for four years as general foreman, for Raytheon in Portsmouth as an industrial engineer, and for Fram Aerospace in Pawtucket as a machine shop foreman. He worked for 20 years for Taft-Peirce Manufacturing Company as a tool and gage maker and served as union president for the AFL-IAM Little Rhodey Lodge 1606. Mr. Berard served four terms on the Woonsocket City Council, was a member of Knights of Columbus Council 113, served as president of the former St. Clare Home and School Association and as a manger of the Red Cross Shelter of Woonsocket. He also was a member of the American Legion Post 85.
He attended Roger Williams University and Bryant College. He was a World War II Navy veteran and was a torpedoman’s mate third class aboard the submarine tender USS Apollo in the Pacific theater and received the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and the American Theatre Medal. Mr. and Mrs. Berard were married in St. Ann’s Church April 26, 1948.
His funeral will be held Saturday from 9 a.m. from Cartier’s Funeral Home, 151 South Main St., Route 126, Bellingham, Mass., with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. in St. Charles Church, North Main Street, Woonsocket. Interment with military honors will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland. Visiting hours are Friday from 5-8 p.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
