Autopsy shows man with wound had died of natural causes

WARWICK -- An autopsy yesterday indicated that a suspected homicide victim with a nasty head wound died of natural causes, the police said.

William Y. Parker, 55, of 22 Laura St., died of complications arising from hardening of the arteries, said Capt. Joseph Tavares.

Parker apparently got the gash on his head when he fell down Saturday.

"We still are awaiting the toxicologist's report," Tavares said.

"But what we are most concerned with was the head wound, and it was not a fatal blow."

The police questioned his roommate Terrell L. Veluzat, 51, who had fled the two-story house after phoning a friend about Parker's death.

The police found him in the parking lot of a nearby liquor store and discovered two outstanding arrest warrants against him -- failure to appear on a fraud charge and violation of probation on first- and second-degree child molestation charges.

Veluzat is being held in the Adult Correctional Institutions.

Tavares said that he will also be charged with a misdemeanor for failing to notify police of his discovery of Parker's body.
