DOROTHY ROSE SWENSON - East Providence

DOROTHY ROSE SWENSON, 73, of President Avenue, a saleswoman at the former Outlet Co. in Providence for two years before retiring in 1948, died yesterday at Rhode Island Hospital. She was the wife of Harold A. Swenson. Mr. and Mrs. Swenson would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary tomorrow.

Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Manuel and Rose Anna (Sampson) Rego, she lived in East Providence for the last 41 years.

Mrs. Swenson was a former member of the Riverside Junior Women's Club, and an active volunteer and communicant of St. Brendan Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves two daughters, Karen M. Shell of Barrington and Pamela A. Sloyer of Seekonk; a son, Erick M. Swenson of Baton Rouge, La.; a brother, Lewis Rego of Bristol; four sisters, Dolores Carmone of Bristol, Vivianne Murphy of West Warwick, Jeannette Rheaume of Seekonk, and Rosanne Gorman of Cranston; and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be tomorrow at 8:45 a.m. from the W. Raymond Watson Funeral Home, 350 Willett Ave., Riverside, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 in St. Brendan Church, Turner Avenue, Riverside. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.

ANTONE FURTADO - Fall River

ANTONE FURTADO, 76, of 273 Pearce St., a presser foreman for Bonney Dress and O.V. Dress, New Bedford, before retiring, died Wednesday at Charlton Memorial Hospital. He was the husband of Ida (Faria) Furtado.

Born in Somerset, son of the late John and Guilhermina Furtado, he had been a Fall River resident for most of his life.

Mr. Furtado was an avid golfer and member of the Fall River Country Club for 35 years. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Elks and the American Association of Retired Persons. He was a World War II Army veteran.

Besides his wife, he leaves one daughter, Somerset School Committee member and Wiley School Principal Marilyn Susan Harris of Somerset, and one brother, Joseph Furtado. He was also the brother of the late Frank Furtado, John Almeida, Elizabeth Cordeiro, Alice Santos and Mary Maiato.

The funeral will be Monday at 9 a.m. from the Manuel Rogers and Sons Funeral Home, 1521 North Main St., with a funeral Mass at 10 in St. Michael Church, Essex Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

ALICE GIBEAU - Fall River

ALICE GIBEAU, 88, of Pleasant Street, died yesterday in the Crawford House Nursing Center. She was the wife of the late Romeo Gibeau.

Born in Fall River, a daughter of the late Valmore and Josephine (Berube) Dutilly, she had lived in Fall River most of her life.

She was a communicant of Notre Dame Church. Mrs. Gibeau was a member of the Cottell Apartments Seniors.

She leaves a daughter, Doris A. Werbicki of Somerset; a brother, Gilbert Dutilly of Westport, Mass.; two sisters, Lousie Rutkowski of Somerset and Doris Gamache of Fall River, and five granchildren. She was the mother of the late Raymond Gibeau and sister of the late Evelyn Dunn.

The funeral will be tomorrow at 9 a.m from the Hebert-Hathaway Funeral Home, 945 S. Main St., with a 10 a.m. Mass in Notre Dame Church. Burial wll be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

JAMES R. KANE - Fall River

JAMES R. KANE, 54, of 56 Woodard Rd., died unexpectedly Tuesday at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, Mass.

Born in Boston, son of Alice K. (Rockwell) Kane of West Roxbury and the late James H. Kane, he had been a lifelong West Roxbury resident.

Mr. Kane was a graduate of Boston University, where he received a bachelor's degree and was a member of the Lambda Khi Alpha fraternity and participated in crew. He was an Army combat veteran of Vietnam and a member of the Boston Post American Legion.

While in Roxbury, he attended St. Theresa's Church. He had been a summer resident of West Dennis since 1957 and was a communicant of St. Pius X Church.

Besides his mother, he leaves a sister, Mary Elizabeth Finnan of Walpole.

The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9 a.m. from the Jeffrey E. Sullivan Funeral Home, 550 Locust St., Fall River, with a funeral Mass at 10 in Holy Name Church, Hanover Street, Fall River. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Fall River.

CONSTANCE SOUZA - Fall River

CONSTANCE SOUZA, 74, of 189 Middle St., a former employee of Artcraft Metal Corp., died Saturday at home. She was the wife of Edward P. Souza.

A lifelong Fall River resident, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Angelina (Faria) Nobrega.

She was a communicnt of St. Mary Cathedral.

Besides her husband she leaves a daughter, Linda Flaherty of Rochester, Mass.; two brothers, Manuel Nobrega and Antone Nobrega, and two sisters, Laura Nobrega and Theresa Lambert, all of Fall River; and two grandchildren.

The funeral was private.

KENNETH M. BUTTERWORTH - Johnston

KENNETH M. BUTTERWORTH, 51, of Traver Avenue, an employee of the Providence Gas Co. for 25 years, first working in customer service and retiring as a dispatcher in 1992 because of illness, died yesterday at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Inpatient Center, Providence.

Born in Providence, a son of the late John E. and Clara V. (Carroll) Butterworth, he had lived in Johnston for the past six years. Before that he lived in Coventry for 27 years and in Warwick.

He leaves two daughters, Darlene E. Underwood of Coventry and Deborah A. Myers of Hopkinton; a son, Kenneth J. Butterworth of Coventry; a brother, Barry J. Butterworth of Rehoboth, and five grandchildren.

The funeral will be tomorrow at 7:45 a.m. from the Robert A. Iannotti and Sons Funeral Home, 415 Washington St., Coventry, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 8:45 in Ss. John and Paul Church, South Main Street, Coventry. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, West Greenwich.

OMER J. SABOURIN - Lincoln

OMER J. SABOURIN, 86, of Binford Street, a cement truck driver at Morse Sand & Gravel Co. for 30 years before retiring in 1974, died Wednesday at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital, North Providence. He was the husband of Irene (Ingham) Sabourin and the husband of the late Helen M. (Karminski) Sabourin.

Born in Pawtucket, a son of the late Joseph and Victoria (Lambert) Sabourin, he lived in Pawtucket for many years before moving to Lincoln in 1955.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Donald J. Sabourin of Brandon, Fla., and Glenn E. Sabourin of Rumford; a stepson, Robert Stewart in North Carolina; four daughters, Joyce H. Marinelli in California, Madelyn A. Foss of Solona Beach, Calif., Cheryl R. King and Debra J. Bessette, both of Cumberland; three stepdaughters, Carolyn M. Stewart in Florida, Patricia E. Smith of Pawtucket, and Marica Farrell of Jacksonville, Fla.; four brothers, Henry Sabourin and James Sabourin, both of Pawtucket, Frank Sabourin in Florida, and Alfred Sabourin in California; two sisters, Laura Arnold in California and Janet Tomlinson of Lincoln; 19 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

The funeral and burial will be private.

ELIZABETH MILLER - North Kingstown

ELIZABETH MILLER, 92, of Sand Hill Drive, a packer for King Staples, North Kingstown, before retiring, died Wednesday at South County Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Edward S. Miller.

Born in East Greenwich, a daughter of the late John E. and Yarda L. Ryden, she had been a resident of North Kingstown for 38 years.

Mrs. Miller was a member of the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of East Greenwich.

She leaves a sister, Helen Grace of Ft. Myers, Fla. She was the mother of the late Mary E. Garcia.

The funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Division Street, East Greenwich. Burial will be in the First Lutheran Cemetery.

AVI BLOOM - Pawtucket

AVI BLOOM, 63, of 38 Sayles Ave., a retired executive of Carol Cable Co., died Wednesday at Health Havens Nursing Center in East Providence. He was the husband of Hannah (Lewis) Bloom.

Born in Israel, he was a son of the late Zion and Naomi Bloom.

Mr. Bloom was a graduate of the Univeristy of Tel Aviv and received a masters in business administration from Columbia Business School in 1961.

Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Dina Bloom of San Francisco, and a son, David Bloom of Los Angeles.

A graveside service will be held Friday at noon at Lincoln Park Cemetery, Warwick.

ANTOINETTE BRODEUR - Pawtucket

ANTOINETTE BRODEUR, 86, formerly of Magill Street, died yesterday at the Woonsocket Health Care Center in Woonsocket.

A lifelong Pawtucket resident, she was a daughter of the late John and Cordelia (Dubeau) Dubeau.

She leaves three sons, Richard J. Brodeur of Pawtucket, Albert J. Brodeur in California and George H. LeMieux of North Providence, and four grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 9 a.m. in St. Mary Chruch, Pine Street. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery.

LILLIAN JUTRAS - Pawtucket

LILLIAN JUTRAS, 85, formerly of Farnum Street, died Wednesday at the Greenwood House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Warwick. She was the widow of Edgar J. Jutras.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late John T. and Margaret (Moran) Treanor. She had been a resident of Pawtucket for 50 years, and she was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Church.

She leaves a son, Paul S. Jutras of North Attleboro, and three grandsons.

She was the sister of the late George, Edward and Joseph Treanor.

The funeral will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow from the Darlington Mortuary of L. Heroux & Son, 1042 Newport Ave., with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo the Great Church, Central Avenue, at 10 a.m. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
