Angelo “Satch” J. Toscano, 94, of John Street, Westerly, passed away on Thursday afternoon, April 9, 2009 at the Westerly Health Center. He was pre-deceased by his wife, Mary E. (Vita) Toscano. He is survived by his daughter; Sandra Irving of Westerly, two grandchildren; Dr. Lisa Noyes-Duguay of Stonington and Eric J. Irving of Westerly, two brothers; Samuel and Joseph Toscano of Westerly and four great-grandchildren; Ryan Duguay, Jordan Irving, Brayden Irving and Payton Irving and many nieces and nephews. He was also pre-deceased by his son; John A. Toscano, his brother; Frank “Tusky” Toscano and his sister; Jenny (Toscano) Brogno.
Angelo was born in Westerly on June 3, 1914, the son of the late Carmine and Teresa (Ritacco) Toscano. He started working for the New Haven Railroad in 1937 and after a few years there he went to work for Henderson Fiddes Farms. In 1940, he became a weaver at the George C. Moore Company and then became employed at Consumers Dairy for 31 years. Before he retired, he worked as a security guard at The Mystic Seaport for 16 years. He was a member of the Winnapaug Golf Club for over 50 years and he was the runner up of the Club Championship in 1949. He also participated in many other events and championships at the club. Some of Angelo’s passions in life were riding his motorcycle, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Angelo will be sadly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held where he was a communicant, St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm Street, Westerly, on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 10:00 am. There will be no procession from the funeral home to the church. Calling hours will take place on Monday from 4:00-7:00 pm at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. Burial will be private.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Angelo’s name can be made to St. Pius X Church, 44 Elm Street, Westerly, RI 02891.

Frank B. Bill, 89, of High Street, Westerly, passed away on Saturday morning, September 22, 2012 at his home, the Golden Years Retirement Home of Westerly.
He was born in North Stonington, CT on June 14, 1923, the son of the late James B. and Harriet E. (Congdon) Bill.
Frank was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Army in Salerno, Italy. For many years, he was a dairy farmer at the Valley View Farms of North Stonington.
Funeral services will be private and are under the direction of Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home and Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly, RI.

JAMES L. BEDDELL

Occupation: He was employed at Stanley Bostich for 20 years. He retired from General Dynamics of Groton, CT in 1993. After his retirement he went on to become a crossing guard for the Westerly school department; a job he enjoyed from 1994 to 2009.
Hobbies: He had a great love for his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He enjoyed spending time with them, laughing, and telling stories. We will all fondly remember him as a kind, loving man, with a contagious laugh, a big smile and an even bigger heart.
Organizations: James was a member of the Freemasons of Rhode Island (Franklin Lodge #20)

James Lester Beddell, 82 of Westerly, Rhode Island died at home on Sunday, September 9, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Beddell is preceded in death by his loving wife Susan B. (Sposato) Beddell in 2006 whom he was married to for 54 years. He is the son of the late James and Pauline (Might) Beddell.
He is survived by his daughters; Valerie Corina and husband Paul, and Denise Derosier and husband Kurth of Westerly, RI. He leaves behind four grandchildren; Brian Corina (Christina) of Dedham MA, Amy Sarge (Clark) of Linden, PA, Lindsey Orlando, and Nicole Orlando and her fiancé Dan Springer of Boston, MA. He also leaves behind six great grandchildren; Cassandra and Jackson Corina, Hannah, Caleb, Corina, and Luke James Sarge. He is survived by two brothers; Donald Beddell (Nancy) of PA, David Beddell, and his two sisters; Norma Pappas, and Shirley Wright all of Canton, OH and was predeceased by his sister Charlotte Gilmore. He also leaves behind his dear friends Americo and Doris Petrocelli of Westerly, RI.
James was proud of his service in the US Marine Corps. during the Korean conflict. He spoke often and highly of his time in the Marines and enjoyed sharing stories of his experiences with his family and friends. He was employed at Stanley Bostich for 20 years. He retired from General Dynamics of Groton, CT in 1993. After his retirement he went on to become a crossing guard for the Westerly school department; a job he enjoyed from 1994 to 2009. Calling hours will take place at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly, on Tuesday from 4:00-7:00 PM.

Virginia E. (Mullins) Miller, 88, of Prosser Trail, Charlestown, passed away on Thursday evening, September 6, 2012 at the Westerly Hospital. She is survived by her husband, James C. Miller of Charlestown.
Virginia was born in Jersey City, NJ on October 2, 1923, the daughter of the late Daniel and Elizabeth (Black) Mullins. For many years, she was an employee of Bess Eaton doughnut shops in Westerly and Charlestown.
Funeral services will be private and are under the direction of Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.

EDWARD EUGENIO CERCENA
August 15, 1915 - September 2, 2012

Edward “Eddie” Eugenio Cercena, 97, of Prospect Street, Pawcatuck, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Sunday morning, September 2, 2012 at Pendleton Health Care, Mystic, CT. He was pre-deceased by the love of his life, Grace (Tattersall) Cercena. He is survived by his niece and nephew-in-law, Cathy and Salvatore E. Cherenzia III of North Stonington, CT, his niece and nephew-in-law, Patti and David Page of Westerly, his niece and nephew-in-law, Judy and John Gloria of West Suffield, CT and other nieces and nephews and many grandnieces and grandnephews.
Mr. Cercena was born in Westerly on August 15, 1915 to Italian immigrants, the son of the late Eugene and Judith (Campo) Cercena. He was one of eight children who were raised with the values that made this country great – work hard and live within your means. Eddie lived through the great depression and cleared his plate at every meal. He was grateful for all he had. He served proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. He was on a transport ship that brought food and armaments through dangerous waters to supply the troops and people of Europe. When asked how he made it through such a dangerous assignment, he would reply “I ducked a lot”. For many years, Edward was a machinist at the Cottrell’s Printing Company of Pawcatuck. He walked two side streets to get to work for 37 years, manufacturing parts for the best printing presses made. He cut out metal blanks for cams that actuated the equipment. His boss would go to him for difficult assignments because he knew it would be made right the first time. Anyone who knew Eddie could recite some of his many one liners he was famous for. His wit and humor will be sadly missed by his friends and family that were very important to him.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 6, 2012 at 10:00 am at Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. Burial with full military honors will take place at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly.

Sandra L. Arnone
December 3, 1960 - August 23, 2012
Sandra “Sandy” L. (Paolucci) Arnone, 51, of Charlestown, passed away on Thursday, August 23, 2012. She is survived by her husband, Jeff M. Arnone of Charlestown, two sons, Anthony Fisher and Robbie Arnone of Charlestown, her mother, Virginia DiLullo (Paolucci) of Cranston, her father, John Paolucci of Port St. Lucie, FL, her sister, Laura Lee of Lincoln, her brother, Dan Paolucci of Johnston and nieces and nephews, Krista, Rick, Jana, Matt and Cindy.
Sandra was born in Providence on December 3, 1960, the daughter of John and Virginia (DiLullo) Paolucci. Sandra loved spending time in the sun and on the water, kayaking, canoeing and fishing. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be private and are under the direction of Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Crematory, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly.

FRANCES M. VACCA
April 14, 1920 - June 13, 2010
Frances Margaret (Nonnenbacher) Vacca, 90, beloved wife of Joseph M. Vacca of John Street, Westerly, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, June 13, 2010 at her home. Mrs. Vacca was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 14, 1920, the daughter of the late Frank and Eileen B. (Brushie) Nonnenbacher. She is survived by her children, Madelyn Hanlon wife of James P. of Sanibel, FL, Joseph M. Vacca, Jr., Richard C. Vacca and Charles E. Vacca, husband of Lori R. all of Westerly, and her daughter-in-law, Johanna Vacca of Westerly. She was the beloved grandmother of James Paul Hanlon III, husband of Mary S., Eileen Louise Hanlon, John Dynon Vacca, Derek Vacca, Katie Vacca, Aaron Vacca, Ariel Vacca, Andrea Vacca, Evan Vacca and Emily Dobson, and great-grandmother of Amanda, Taylor and Eleanor Hanlon. She had been lovingly cared for by her niece Martha Jean Vacca during her illness. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews in Westerly and members of the Brown and Anderson families of CT. Mrs. Vacca was raised in Colchester, CT at the home of her maternal grandparents, Judge Charles and Margaret Brown. As a young girl, she was an accomplished horsewoman. She graduated from Bacon Academy in Colchester and attended St. Joseph’s College in Hartford. She moved to Westerly upon her marriage. She was a wonderful mother, devoted to her children and the biggest fan as her sons and grandsons participated in sports teams at Westerly High. At an early age she was introduced to live theatre by her mother and aunts. This early exposure to the arts continued throughout her lifetime. She also was a dedicated blues and jazz enthusiast. However her natural talent of ballroom dancing reached a pinnacle when her dancing partner became her husband. Once married, their dancing was locally admired. It was a joy to watch them glide along the dance floor with “Fascination”. She also was an avid reader, always enjoying a good mystery and historic novels.

Her funeral will be held Saturday, Oct. 30, 2010 at 9 a.m. from the Prata-Murphy Funeral Home, 78 Providence St., West Warwick, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Gregory the Great Church, 360 Cowesett Road, at 10 a.m.
