Anne E. Sullivan, 52, of Warwick, died April 21, 2010 in Fort Worth, Texas. Born in Providence, she was a beloved daughter of Nancy A. (Avedisian) Sullivan of Warwick and the late Robert B. Sullivan, Sr.

Loving sister of Robert B. Sullivan, Jr. and Jane Cherms, both of Warwick.

Anne was a nursing assistant at R.I. Medical Center - General Hospital. She was a graduate of Toll Gate High School and Sawyer Business School.

A Requiem Eucharist was held on Saturday in Trinity Episcopal Church, Cranston. Arrangements by THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME.

Philip S. Noble

Philip S. Noble, 65, of Warwick, died peacefully on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Waterbury, CT, he was a son of the late Glenn Noble and Elizabeth (Rowell) Noble. He was the former husband of Marie Noble of North Kingstown.

Mr. Noble was an Engineer for Hexagon of North Kingstown. He was a friend of “Bill W.”

Besides his former wife, he leaves his three children: David Noble of Washington, D.C., Hether L. Speight and her husband Scott of New London, CT, and Martha E. Noble of Warwick. He was the brother of Stephen Noble of FL and Stella O'Brien of Evanston, IL.

His Requiem Eucharist will be held on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 10:00 am in St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, 3257 Post Road, Warwick. Burial will be private. Calling hours are respectfully omitted. Kindly omit flowers. Gifts in his memory to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1210 Pontiac Ave. Cranston, RI 02920 would be appreciated. Arrangements have been entrusted to THE CRANSTON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME of WICKFORD.

William F. "Sonny" George III

William "Sonny" George III, a self-employed tow truck operator, of Byfield Street, died Saturday, April 14th at home. He was the husband of Winnie (Sharp) George.

Born in Providence, a son of the late William F. George Jr. and Charlotte (Johnson) George.

Besides his wife, he is survived by sons, Norman George, Dennis George & Kevin George, all of Providence, Arlin Sharp & Jeffrey "Tony" Sharp, both of Jacksonville, Florida, daughters, Bonita Caldwell & Ronnell Sharp, both of Providence, brothers, Chester "Buddy" George of Providence & Fredrick William George of Warwick, sisters, Barbara George of Providence & Mary Perry of Rumford, and many grands and greatgrands.

The funeral will be private.

Deacon William Michael Truell Jr.

April 30, 1922 to May 23, 2008

Deacon William Michael Truell Jr., 86, of 58 Wilson Street, Providence, died Friday, May 23rd, at 48 Whitmarsh Street, Providence. He was the husband of Julia Truell.

Born in Savannah, Georgia, a son of the late William Michael Truell Sr. and Ethel (Spencer) Truell. He was a resident of the city for 62 years.

William was a U.S. Navy Veteran of World War II. Deacon Truell also served faithfully at Pond Street Baptist Church for over forty years.

Besides his wife, he is survived by son, William Michael Fournier of Providence, Yvonne Truell Jackson of Dallas, brother, Vernon S. Truell of Boston, MA, sisters, Vera T. Blake of Boston, MA and Laura T. Valentine of Savannah, GA and 6 grandchildren.

Funeral 10am Friday, May 30th, at Pond Street Baptist Church, 75 Chester Avenue, Providence. Calling Hours 6:30 -9pm Thursday, also in church. Burial, with military honors, will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Pond Street Baptist Church in his memory.

Pasquale “Patsy” Vacca
Pasquale “Patsy” Vacca, 89, a United States Army Veteran of World War II from Bayview Drive, Westerly, died on Saturday, February 19, 2005 at the Westerly Nursing Home. He leaves his beloved wife of 40 years Adele A. (Bernier) Vacca of Westerly, three sons, Francis Vacca of San Antonio, TX, Vincent Vacca of Norwich, and Patsy F. Vacca of Westerly, two brothers, Joseph Vacca of Westerly and John Vacca of Weathersfield, CT, two sisters, Philomena Vetelino of Westerly and Dorothy Del Monte of Westerly, 9 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, few great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Vacca was born in Westerly on September 3, 1915, the son of the late Frank and Michelina (Vicale) Vacca. He was a ship fitter for 23 years at the Electric Boat Division of General Dynamics, retiring in 1980. He also owned his own landscaping business for 15 years. He was the President of Laborers Union Local #15 for many years and President and Chairman of the Veterans Board of Control for over 40 years. He was a member of the Westerly Lodge of Elks, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Italo-American Club and along with Charles Ligouri, was the organizer of the annual Memorial Day Parade for over 30 years. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 23, 2005 from Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of Saint Clare, 4 Saint Clare Way, Misquamicut. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Vacca’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – Rhode Island Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Providence, RI 02906.

Ida C. (Gencarella) Lombardo
Ida C. (Gencarella) Lombardo, 83, of Rossie Avenue in Pawcatuck, died on Saturday morning, February 19, 2005 at Watch Hill Nursing & Rehab Facility. Her husband of 62 years, John Lombardo, died in 1997. They were married at Christ Episcopal Church in Westerly. She leaves a sister, Amelia A. Prachniak of Pawcatuck, two brothers, John Gencarella of Westerly and Joseph Gencarella of Westerly, her nieces and nephews whom she considered her children, Ida A. Haines of Pawcatuck, Stanley Prachniak of Pawcatuck, Eric Prachniak of Pawcatuck, Margaret Prachniak of Pawcatuck and Amy Marques of Westerly. Mrs. Lombardo was born in Westerly on July 15, 1921, the daughter of the late Pasquale and Mary (Manfredi) Gencarella. For many years, Mrs. Lombardo was a cook in the West Vine Street School Cafeteria and loved to cook for her family at home. She was a Jehovah’s Witness for over 60 years. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 22, 2005 at 11:00 am in Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. Burial will take place at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will take place on Monday from 6-8 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Lombardo’s name can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association – RI Chapter, 245 Waterman Street, Providence, RI 02906.

Josephine L. (Calise) Fusaro Valenti
Needham, MA; Josephine L. (Calise) Fusaro Valenti, 90, of Shore Road in Westerly, died on Saturday afternoon, February 12, 2005 at North Hill Skilled Nursing Facility in Needham, MA. Her husband, Joseph Valenti died in 1997. She leaves three sons and daughter-in-laws, Joseph and Denise Valenti of Quincy, MA, Louis A. and Claire Fusaro of Needham, MA and Frank and Carol Fusaro of Saddle River, NJ, four grandchildren, Jaclyn Fusaro of New York City, Christopher Fusaro of Ramsey, NJ, David Fusaro of Berkley, CA and Joseph E. Valenti of Quincy, MA, and a sister, Rose McQuade of Miller Place, NY and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Valenti was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 22, 1914, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Rosina Calise. Along with her family, Mrs. Valenti vacationed in Westerly starting in the late 1940’s and upon her husband’s retirement, they moved here in 1982. She was a member of the Westerly Senior Center and always took pride in keeping an immaculate home. She was loved by all who were touched by her smile, joy and generosity. She had an “indomitable spirit and love of family and education” as memorialized by her three sons in a scholarship to St. John’s University in her honor. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 16, 2005 from Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at the Church of Saint Clare, 4 Saint Clare Way, Misquamicut, RI. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Calling hours will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Burial will take place at St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly, RI. In lieu of flowers, donations in Josephine’s name can be made to Cooley’s Anemia Foundation, 129-0926th Avenue - #203, Flushing, NY, 11354, or the Westerly Senior Center of RI, 39 State Street, Westerly, RI 02891, or North Hill Employees Appreciation Fund, 865 Central Avenue, Needham, MA 02492, or a charity of one’s choice.

Edward S. Frankian
Edward S. Frankian, 85, of Crestview Drive in Westerly and formerly of Warwick, died on Sunday evening, March 27, 2005 at the Westerly Health Center. Mr. Frankian was born on March 4, 1920 in Woonsocket, the son of the late Daniel and Agnes (Hagopian) Frankian. He was educated in the Woonsocket School System. During World War II, Edward served as a United States Army medic on the hospital ship Hope in the Pacific Theatre. He was principal in his family owned business, the former Henry A. Davis Garnetting Company and the Narragansett Terminal Complex in Pawtucket. Mr. Frankian is survived by his sister, Diana Beauchemin of North Smithfield and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Warren Frankian. The funeral and burial will be private.

Ida M. (Burge) Turley
Ida M. (Burge) Turley, 67, of Clark Street in Westerly, and formerly of Woody Hill Road in Bradford, died on Monday morning, March 14, 2005 at the Westerly Hospital. She leaves two daughters, Kimberly Davis of Gales Ferry, CT, and Elaine M. Pierce of Bradford, three grandchildren, Justine Pierce of Bradford, Kristin Pierce of Bradford, and Kevin Davis of Gales Ferry, a foster grandchild, Amanda Knowles, six brothers, Otis L. Burge of Westerly, Noah Bell of Bradford, Philip Bell of Alvin, TX, John Arnold of Westerly and Marvin Arnold of Alvin, TX, two sisters, Patsy Garafola of Bradford and Barbara Spezzano of Chicago, IL. She was pre-deceased by her brother Ralph Bell. Mrs. Turley was born in Springfield, IL on November 28, 1937, the daughter of the late Otis L. and Phyllis G. (Fortner) Burge. She has been a resident of Westerly for almost 50 years. Mrs. Turley was a bookkeeper for many years and a cashier at Foxwoods Resort and Casino for many years. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 17, 2005 at 10:00 am in Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. Calling hours will take place on Wednesday from 6-8 pm at the funeral home. Burial will take place at the convenience of the family.

Annette C. (Comerford) Rucci
Annette C. (Comerford) Rucci, 88, of Valley Drive in Westerly, died on Friday morning, March 11, 2005 at the Westerly Nursing Home. She is survived by her husband, Nicholas W. Rucci of Westerly, two sons, Edward W. Rucci of Vermont and Nicholas J. Rucci of Florida, a daughter, Karen A. Whitesell of South Windsor, CT, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her brother, Edward Comerford. Mrs. Rucci was born in Norwich, CT on June 7, 1916, the daughter of the late Edward and Nellie (Sullivan) Comerford. She graduated from Norwich Free Academy and St. Francis Hospital of Nursing and for many years was a registered nurse in the East Hartford School System. Mrs. Rucci was a communicant at the Church of St. Clare, a member of the Daughters of Isabella, a life member of the Westerly Senior Center, Past President of the East Hartford Little League, Secretary of the Board of Education in East Hartford, a member of the Westerly Nursing Club, the Westerly Yacht Club. She loved plants and flowers, was a great knitter and loved fishing and boating. The funeral will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2005 from Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am at the Church of Saint Clare, 4 Saint Clare Way, Misquamicut. There is no procession from the funeral home. Burial will take place at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 5-8 pm.

William Halliwell, 78, of North Stonington, Connecticut, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Westerly Hospital. He is survived by his wife of almost 40 years, Elizabeth M. (O’Connor) Halliwell of North Stonington, his sister, Joan H. Lansing of Barrington, two nephews; John H. Lansing of Seekonk, MA and Daniel J. O’Connor, III of Harvest, Alabama, four nieces; Candace Littell-Maxwell of Winchester, VA, Kimberly Studebaker of Cypress Falls, TX, Marybeth Slusser of Milford, NJ and Lauren D’Amato of Woodberry, CT and several grandnieces and grandnephews. William was predeceased by his nephew, Michael Edward O’Connor. Mr. Halliwell was born in Providence, RI, the son of the late George W. and Dorothy G. (Grimm) Halliwell. He grew up in Rehoboth, MA and went on to serve in the United States Navy during the Korean War. Following his days in the service, William attended Boston University, The University of Colorado at Boulder, Syracuse University and Johnson & Wales University. For many years, William was a salesman for The Hilti Corporation of Providence. He enjoyed sailing, reading, and gardening and was an avid cook. He also enjoyed teaching about and tasting wine. William enjoyed libraries and donated to them frequently. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Funeral services will be private.

She is survived by four sons; Robert Harland of Carson City, NV, David Harland of Jonesboro, GA, Larry Harland of North Stonington and Michael Harland of Pawcatuck, two daughters; Kathleen Weggler of Scarborough, ME and Pat Melarango of Auburn, ME, 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, her sister and brother-in-law, Madeline and Robert Beddome of Port St. Lucie, FL, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Nick and Michael Vuono and her sister, Eleanor Vuono. Mrs. Harland was born in Westerly on April 13, 1923, the daughter of the late Salvatore and Angeline (Capalbo) Vuono. A Memorial Service will take place on Monday, May 4, 2009 at 11:00 am in Rushlow-Iacoi Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 64 Friendship Street, Westerly. Cremains burial will take place following the service at River Bend Cemetery, Westerly. Following the burial, Josephine’s family would like to invite everyone to the Westerly Yacht Club, 1 Watch Hill Road, Westerly, for a reception from 1-4 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Josephine’s memory can be made to the charity of one’s choice.
