Fortuna D. “Una“ (Impagliazzo) Sciarra
Fortuna D. “Una“ (Impagliazzo) Sciarra, 81, a hairdresser of Howe Street, North Providence, died Monday at Roger Williams Medical Center. She was the beloved wife of Italo A. Sciarra, they were married in 1949 at Holy Ghost Church.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Salvatore Impagliazzo and Celia (DiNofrio) Impagliazzo-Petrocchi.
Mrs. Sciarra was very charitable and enjoyed cooking and spending time with her loving family.
She was the devoted mother of Larry A. Sciarra of Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Deb A. Pellegrino of North Providence, and Melissa A. Penick of Warwick. Caring sister of Dolores Loiselle and Gloria Geremia both of North Providence and the late Guy Impagliazzo. Cherished grandmother of five.
Her funeral will be held Saturday at 8:45 am from THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95) with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Holy Ghost Church, 1 Knight Street, Providence. Burial will follow in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Friday 4-8 pm.
Michael J. Senno
Michael J. Senno, 87, a resident of Cumberland, died Wednesday September 16th at Landmark Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Lorice H. (Samara) Senno for 52 years.
Born in Central Falls, he was a son of the late Naoom “Norman” and Zackel “Elizabeth” (Seek) Senno.
He left school at a young age to help support his parents during his beloved mothers' illness. He worked in Corning Glass in Central Falls then became a Welder at the Providence Ship Yards before entering the service. A WW II Veteran of The United States Navy, he served in the invasion of Normandy, while in the Asian Pacific Theater.
After the war he peddled fruits and vegetables before going into business with his brother in 1947 starting first Valley Warping textile mill then Valley Throwing working in the silk trade. The Warps moved to East Providence then Pawtucket. Mr. Senno remained in Cumberland overseeing the twisting. The twisted yarn was used many ways including lace, velcro, parachute cord and Nomex for the military. In 1974 Mr. Mike Senno, a Throwster became owner and President of Valley Throwing, Inc.
His children spent a great deal of time at the ‘shop' growing up. His two sons continued to work with their father. Mr. Senno worked until he became ill in February 2008.
He was a communicant of St. Basil the Great Church where he served as an altar server as a youth. Mr. Senno was a member of the Southern New England Textile Group, the Yarn Peddlers Assn., F.O. P. Lodge 14 in Cumberland, U.S.S. Walke #D.D.723 Assn. and a former member of Pawtucket Country Club.
He was the loving father of Charlotte A. Senno, RN, wife of the late George Molasky, of Cumberland who together with her daughter cared for Mr. Senno in his last illness, Norman G. Senno and his wife Lori of Cumberland, Lisa L. Brown and her husband Richard of Berlin, CT, and Michael J. Senno, II of Cumberland. Caring brother of Antoinette B. Senno of Central Falls and the late George Senno and Mary E. Aissis. Cherished grandfather of Nicholas B. Senno, Matthew C. Senno, Clorice E. Senno, and Elizabeth L. Brown.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday at St. Basil the Great Church. His pall bearers were his sons, Norman and Michael, his grandsons, Nicholas and Matthew, his son in law Richard and Thomas Houle, a loyal employee of over 40 years.
Burial with military honors was held at Resurrection Cemetery, Cumberland.

Homer E. Talbot
Homer E. Talbot, 98, of Stony Lane, Exeter, died Wednesday at home. He was the husband of the late Velma L. Talbot. They had been married over fifty years.
Born in Fall River, MA, he was a son of Eugene Talbot and Blanche (Bourget) Talbot.
He retired from NARF Quonset in 1973 as an Industrial Engineering Technician. He had worked for the Navy at Newport and Quonset Point for over forty years. He graduated from New Bedford High School and was an apprentice machinist at Brow and Sharpe, Providence.
Mr. Talbot was a Navy Veteran of World War II and served aboard the USS Hobson.
He had lived in Exeter for over fifty years and was a member of N.A.R.F.E., The Audobon Society and the Wildlife Federation.
He is survived by two nephews, Jeffrey E. Talbot of New Bedford, MA, and Joseph Hampson of Fairhaven, MA; three nieces Linda . Wordell of Fairhaven, MA, Patricia Lopes of Carver, MA and Pamela Talbot of New Bedford, MA. He was the brother of the late Alphonse E. Talbot and Henrietta Hampson.
His funeral will be held Monday at 11:00 am in Exeter Chapel, 765 Ten Rod Road, Exeter, to which relatives and friends are invited. James F. Taylor
James F. Taylor, 87, of Jackson Avenue, died Thursday at Briarcliff Manor. He was the beloved husband of Mary (San Souci) Taylor.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late Francis H. and Marie (Casey) Taylor.
Mr. Taylor was employed with Narragansett Electric from 1956 until his retirement in 1985. He served in The United States Army during WW II.
He was the loving father of Fred T. Taylor of Harleyville, SC, Brian J. Taylor of Wakefield, James J. Taylor of Cranston, Mary E. Pires of Providence, Kathie F. Taylor-Meli of Johnston, and Tricia L. Taylor of San Rafael, CA. Caring brother of Carlo DeRosa of Johnston, Joan DeRosa of Cranston and the late Joseph DeRosa, Dorothy Taylor, and Gloria Cash. Cherished grandfather of fifteen and great grandfather of twelve.

Vincenza M. Tedeschi
Vincenza M. Tedeschi, 91, of Commonwealth Avenue, died Wednesday at home. A lifelong Warwick resident, she was a daughter of the late Pasquale and Julia (DiCarlo) Tedeschi.
Miss Tedeschi was a Medical Record Technician for Eleanor Slater Hospital for 33 years until her retirement. She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in West Warwick where she served as secretary of the Italian Heritage Committee for many years. She was a member of the M.H.R.H. Retirement Association.
She was the beloved sister of Maria T. Tedeschi of Warwick and the late Emiddio, Louis, and Gemma Tedeschi. Loving sister in law of Carol (Mansour) Tedeschi of Warwick. Cherished aunt of several nieces and nephews and the late Jeannette Tedeschi.
Her funeral will be held Monday at 9:00 am from THE PRATA-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 78 Providence Street, West Warwick with a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in Sacred Heart Church, 820 Providence Street, West Warwick. Laura M. (Kandzerski) Vogt
Laura M. (Kandzerski) Vogt, 69, a homemaker of West Warwick and Coventry, died Monday at Kent Hospital. She was the wife of the late Karl Vogt.
Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Stephen and Alice (Warburton) Kandzerski.
She was the beloved mother of Robert Martin, Jr. of Florida, David A. Martin of Providence, Wayne A. Martin of West Warwick, Sheila A. Courtemanche of Coventry and Tracy Wright of West Warwick. Caring sister of David Kandzerski of Warwick and several other siblings. Cherished grandmother of ten and great grandmother of three.

Edna M. (Firth) Wilcox
Edna M. (Firth) Wilcox, 87, of Capron Farm Drive, died Thursday at Sunny View Nursing Home. She was the beloved wife of Donald W. Wilcox. Born in North Providence, she was a daughter of the late Horace and Elizabeth Ann (Duffin) Firth.
Mrs. Wilcox was a communicant of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church in Warwick.
She was the loving mother of Steven Alan Wilcox of Lincoln, MA and Robert Edward Wilcox of Strafford, NH. Cherished grandmother of four. She was the sister of the late Ernest Firth and Florence Watterson.

Lieutenant Colonel G. Bruce Hevenor (U.S. Army Ret)
Lieutenant Colonel G. Bruce Hevenor (U.S. Army Ret), 84, formerly of East Greenwich, RI died peacefully in Warwick, on Thursday, February 4, 2010 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Newton, Mass., Mr. Hevenor is preceded in death by his parents, the late G.H.S. and Helen E. (Flaherty) Hevenor, and a grandson, David B. Jeffrey. He is survived by Phyllis L. (Carlson) Hevenor and their seven children, Kristina Giffin (William) of Aiken, S.C.; Gretchen Webster of Salem, Mass; Michael Hevenor (Rhonda) of Smithfield, R.I.; Mark Hevenor of North Kingstown, R.I.; Matthew Hevenor of North Kingstown, R.I.; Rebecca Renaud (Mark) of Coventry, R.I.; Laurie Dickinson (Patrick) of Geneva, Ill.; 19 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren; a sister Patricia J. Porter of Plaistow, N.H., nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hevenor was a graduate of Boston University. He served honorably in the active Army for more than 20 years, retiring as Lieutenant Colonel. He served during World War II, training as a gunner on B-17 and B-24 airplanes. He was a paratrooper who served in the US Army 503 rd Airborne Infantry Regiment, 11 th Airborne Division, and 7 th and 6 th Special Forces Groups (Airborne). A decorated veteran, he served in Vietnam in 1967 and 1968, earning the Bronze Star with Valor.
Upon his return to the US, he served as Professor of Military Science and head of the ROTC Dept. at Providence College. Following his retirement from the military, Mr. Hevenor became a Realtor in the RI area, where he was Vice President and General Manager of Residential Real Estate for DeFelice Realtors. When DeFelice sold to Coldwell Banker, he became a manager with that company, retiring from Coldwell Banker in 1988, and became a majority owner with H.A. Stone in 1989. That company merged with Lancaster Realty and Prudential Prime Properties in the mid 90s, and Mr. Hevenor retained a majority ownership. The company was sold to DeWolfe in 2000.
A great believer in community support, Mr. Hevenor was a long time member of the East Greenwich Rotary Club. He also received special recognition for his more than 135 blood donations totaling more than 18 gallons of blood.
His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am in THE URQUHART-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 800 Greenwich Avenue, Route 5, Warwick (Exit 12A on I-95). Burial, with military honors, will follow in R.I. Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter. Relatives and friends are invited and may call Monday 6-8 PM and Tuesday 10:00-11:00 am. Donations may be made in Mr. Hevenor's memory to the hospice organization of Odyssey Health Care of RI, The American Cancer Society or The National Reyes Syndrome Foundation.
