KENNETH D. SWAIN
Kenneth D. Swain, 59, of 11 Greenman Ave., Westerly, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2003. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (Kelley) Swain.
Funeral arrangements, which are incomplete, are entrusted to the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly.
ANTHONY DURANTE
Anthony Durante, 36, of Westerly, formerly of Philadelphia and Hammonton, N.J., died at home.
Born in Hammonton, he had lived in Rhode Island for the past year. Mr. Durante was a former wrestler with the "Pitbull" tag-team in the ECW from 1989-1997. He wrestled in Europe, Germany and Japan. Mr. Durante was a soft coin counter for Foxwoods Resort Casino.
He is survived by his two children, Angelina Marianna Durante and Anthony Alfredo Durante both of Westerly; his mother and stepfather, Anna and Giuseppe DiGenova of Westerly; his father Carlo Durante of Italy; and his brother, Ciro Durante of Westerly.
Services and burial were held in New Jersey.
The family has set up a trust fund to help assist Anthony's children. Donations may be sent to Anthony and Angelina Durante, c/o Anna DiGenova, 15 Riverdale Road, Westerly, RI 02891. Arrangements by the Carnesale Funeral Home, Hammonton, N.J.
Sarah H. Kaanta and Sointu W. Kaanta
Sarah H. Kaanta, 87, of Lantana, Fla., died on Aug. 21, 2003, Her husband, Sointu William "Bill" Kaanta, also of Lantana, died April 26, 2003. They were married on April 16, 1938, and for many years lived on Mayflower Avenue in Pawcatuck.
Sarah was born in Fitchburg, Mass., on July 6, 1916, the daughter of John Ranta and Hilda Mary Lampinen. She was a homemaker most of her life. She was predeceased by a sister, Helen Nichols, and a brother, Norman Maki.
Bill was born in Fitchburg, Mass., on March 27, 1918, the son of Erkki Kaanta and Selma Kangas. He worked for Hamilton Propeller during World War II, then for Monsanto and American Velvet. He was very involved in various sports activities in the Pawcatuck area for many years including The Pawcatuck Little League, Stonington Men's Softball, as director of the Stonington Junior Basketball League and as a softball umpire. Bill was a member of Pawcatuck Lodge #90 of Free Masons for 56 years.
He is survived by a brother, Jeffrey Kaanta of Leominster, Mass.
He was predeceased by a sister, Laila Lahtinen.
Surviving both Sarah and Bill are a daughter, Diane Knight of Pawcatuck; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Oct. 12, at 2 p.m., in River Bend Cemetery, Beach Street, Westerly.
ANDREW CRAIG MACLAUGHLIN
Andrew Craig MacLaughlin, 19, of 17 Beach St., Westerly, beloved son of Craig and Jeanne (Petrie) MacLaughlin, died suddenly of a pulmonary embolism on Oct. 12, 2003, while on an outing with friends in Massachusetts.
Born in Westerly on July 15, 1984, Andrew was a lifelong member of the community, and a member of the Westerly High School Class of 2002.
Andrew was an active member of Christ Church, Westerly, where he began singing with the choir at the age of eight. He had also been a member of the church youth group. His interest in music carried over to his membership in the Chorus of Westerly with which he sang until leaving for Rhode Island College, where he was a sophomore, leaning toward a career in film and communications. Andrew developed and maintained many friendships through chorus, choir and school activities, and was particularly fond of his times at Christ Church Choir Camp at Ogontz, N.H., where he took on many jobs, including mentoring younger campers in his pastime of fishing.
In addition to his parents, Andrew is survived by his loving sisters, Lora and Molly, and his maternal grandparents, Francis and Jean Petrie, all of Westerly; his aunts, Barbara Petrie, Cynthia Fiore, Pamela Carle, and Kathy MacLaughlin; uncles, Brian and Alec MacLaughlin, David Carle and Anthony Fiore; cousins, Peter D'Agostino, Paul Fiore, and Sean MacLaughlin; and his many, many friends. All will remember Andrew for his positive attitude, sense of humor and ready smile, his love for and knowledge of film and cinema, his willingness to help whenever he was asked, and the love he brought to those who knew and will miss him.
There are no calling hours. A celebration of Andrew's life will be held at Christ Church, 7 Elm St., Westerly, on Friday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m., with a reception to follow in the parish hall.

F. THOMAS LENIHAN
Francis Thomas Lenihan, beloved husband of Mary Lenihan, of Rossini Road, Shelter Harbor, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2003, after a valiant year-long battle with cancer.
F. Thomas Lenihan was born in Westerly on Feb. 17, 1939, the third child of Russell A. and Anne Nardone Lenihan. He was the grandson of the late F. Samuel and Consiglia M. Nardone and Thomas F. and Anne Chase Lenihan, all of Westerly.
Mr. Lenihan attended the Westerly schools and graduated from the Portsmouth Abbey School with the class of 1956 where he was a football standout and all-state baseball catcher. He attended Trinity College in Hartford and received his bachelor's degree from Boston University in 1962. He earned his LLB from Suffolk University Law School in 1966.
Mr. Lenihan began his law career with the former Providence firm of Gallogly, Beals, Tiernan and Sweeney. Shortly thereafter, he opened his law practice in Westerly. He maintained his legal practice in the Westerly area for over 35 years, most recently as senior partner with Lenihan, Grady and Steele.
He served as Westerly probate judge from 1967 to 70 and 1972 to 74. He also served as the Westerly assistant town solicitor (1972-1974), Westerly town solicitor (1998-1999), and as the town solicitor for Hopkinton from 1997 to the present. He was a member of the Washington County and Rhode Island Bar associations, the Massachusetts Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association.
Mr. Lenihan was elected to the original Westerly Charter Commission in 1968. He was a former member of the Westerly Republican Town Committee. He was a trustee of The Westerly Hospital and served as an incorporator for the past several years. He was a member of the Shelter Harbor Board of Governors (1971-77) and was a moderator of the Shelter Harbor Fire District (1977-1979). He had been a member of the board and past officer of both the Ralco Realty Corporation and the Samuel Nardone Company. He served with pride as a trustee of the Kimball Foundation since 1992. Mr. Lenihan was elected to the board of directors at the Westerly Savings Bank in June 1971 where he served with honor for 32 years. He was elected and served as secretary of the board since 1979. He succeeded his father, Russell A. Lenihan, who was elected to the Westerly Savings Bank Board in 1946, and together they have given a combined 57 years of service to The Westerly Savings Bank.
F. Thomas Lenihan and Mary E. McGauran were married April 16, 1966, at St. Pius X Church in Westerly. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Jeffrey M. Lenihan and his fiancée, Neville M. Barry of Providence, Daniel P. Lenihan of Westerly, his daughter and son-in-law, Margaret L. and Christian A. Steele of Westerly, and his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin T. and Meagan (Costello) Lenihan of Providence. He is also survived by his two beloved grandchildren, Emma C. and Finn Thomas Steele; two brothers, Russell A. Lenihan Jr. and Michael P. Lenihan and a sister, Anne Chase Lenihan, all of Westerly; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Marguerite L. Kendall of Soquel, Calif.
Tom Lenihan will be remembered by the many young law students he mentored in his practice through the years. He was a loyal friend, trusted colleague and a devoted and loving family man.
Calling hours will be held today from 3 to 7 p.m. in Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Pius X Church, 45 Elm St., Westerly. There will be no cortege from the funeral home. Interment will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery, Westerly.
Contributions in his memory may be made to The Westerly Hospital.
PAMELA JOY WINTER
Pamela Joy Winter, 41, of 14 Circus Place, Brunswick, Maine, died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 24, 2003, at the Parkview Adventist Medical Center in Cumberland, Maine. She was the beloved fiancée of Vincent Nadolny, Jr.
Pamela was born in Bath, Maine, on June 6, 1962. She was the daughter of Barbara (Bartlett) DeBartolo and her husband Charles of Westerly and Ronald R. Marshall Sr. and his wife Elaine of Florida.
Ms. Winter was a graduate of Chariho Regional High School. She attended Johnson and Wales University in Providence, and at the time of her death she was a dental assistant in Maine.
Besides her fiancée and her parents she will be sadly missed by her children, Tara Winter of Warwick, Alicia Winter of Pawcatuck, and Vincent Nadolny III of Brunswick; three sisters, Vicky Muntimuri and Deborah Marshall, both of Westerly, and Patricia Moody of Connecticut; and three brothers, Rick Marshall Jr. of Johnston, Curt DeBartolo of Saratoga, N.Y., and Chris DeBartolo of Providence; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her brother John Lambert.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Michael Church, Liberty St., Pawcatuck. There is no procession from the funeral home. Calling hours are Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery.
