Peter Zlonkevicz

Peter Zlonkevicz, 76, of Wilmington, Del., died April 17 at home.
Born March 4, 1922, in Glen Lyon, Newport Township, he was the son of the late Michael and Amelia Parilla Zlonkevicz.
He was a graduate of Newport High School and was a member of the 1940 Wyoming Valley Conference Championship Basketball Team.
He retired in 1984 after 28 years as a lab technician at DuPont's Chestnut Run site.
A World War II U.S. Coast Guard veteran, he served in the Pacific Theater.
He was a member of St. John the Beloved Catholic Church and the Major Trio Band.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mae Gayeski, and a brother, Nicholas.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Ann M. Wolinski Zlonkevicz; sons , Peter, Marieta, Okla.; David, Broomall; a daughter, Donna Collins, Jefferson , Md.; brothers , Michael, Allen Park, Mich.; his twin brother, Paul, Plantation, Fla.; a sister, Rose Kmietowicz, Glen Lyon; four granddaughters.
Funeral was held from the Mealey Funeral Home with Mass at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church.
Interment at All Saints Cemetery, Kirkwood Highway, Milltown, Del.
ZUPKO, GERALDINE

Geraldine D. Zupko, of Parrish Street in Wilkes-Barre died Friday at the family home.
Born in Plymouth, she was a daughter of the late John and Stella Ewaska. She attended the Scotland School in Scotland, Pa.
She resided in Wilkes-Barre for more than 45 years.
A member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, she was employed by the Country Cousins Dress Co. of Plymouth until her retirement.
She was a member of St. Boniface Church in Wilkes-Barre, and the parish Altar & Rosary Society. She was a former member of the parish Ladies Social Club.
She was a member of Stanton Lanes in Wilkes-Barre, bowling there with the Colorette Team. She had been active at the Wilkes-Barre Municipal and Hollenback golf courses and was involved with numerous Wyoming Valley golf tournaments. She received numerous awards and trophies and won various bowling titles.
Surviving are her husband, Andrew A., with whom she would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary April 10; daughter, Christine (Zupko) Noyalis, Dallas; one grandson; sister, Verna Holiday, Jamesburg, N.J.; aunt, Leona Chupcavich, Laurel Run; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the S.J. Grontkowski Funeral Home, 530 W. Main St., Plymouth, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Boniface Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday. There will be a prayer service Monday afternoon.
ZURENDA, NICHOLAS

Nicholas J. Zurenda, 88, of West Pittston, died Thursday at the Buffalo Valley Nursing Home, Lewisburg.
Born Dec. 6, 1910, in Exeter, he was a son of the late Joseph and Mary Zurenda.
He was a graduate of Exeter High School and lived in West Pittston most of his life.
He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, West Pittston.
He was a lifetime member of the Emanon Country Club and was formerly employed at American Chain and Cable Co., West Pittston.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Louise Parente; brothers , Joseph and George, sisters , Sophia Davala, Helen Yulis, and Mamie Lyons.
Surviving are daughters , Mary Louise Austin, Atlanta; Rita Bowman, Lewisburg; and Angela Zurenda, Lafayette Hills; sisters , Anne Simon, Dorothy Kleback, and Rita Mineo; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday from the Recupero Funeral Home, 406 Susquehanna Ave., West Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church with Father Michael Piccola officiating.
Interment will be in the Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Carverton, Kingston Township.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Church, West Pittston.
Zyblewski, Celia

Celia Zyblewski, 98, formerly of South Chestnut Street, Nanticoke, died Sunday at Birchwood Nursing Center, Nanticoke.
Born Oct. 14, 1901, in Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Przeslawski) Gorka. She was educated in Nanticoke public schools and worked for General Cigar Corp. and the American Tobacco Co. She was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke; the parish choir; American Legion Post 350 Auxiliary and the Nanticoke Hospital Auxiliary.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank.
Surviving are her goddaughter, who she had raised, Celia Popson, of Swoyersville; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Stanley S. Stegura Funeral Home, 614 S. Hanover St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in Holy Trinity Church. Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Newport Township. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

Walter J. Mulhern, 68, of Westerly, R.I., formerly of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at Westerly Hospital.
