YENCHA, JOHN

John A. Yencha, 87, of Finn Street, Miners Mills section of Wilkes-Barre, died Sunday at the Valley Crest Nursing Home, following an illness.
Born May 11, 1912, in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Michael and Mary (Baloga) Yencha.
He was educated in the Plains Township schools and was a graduate of the National Radio Institute of Washington , D.C.
He was a member of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church in Miners Mills, where he was a past president of its Holy Name Society.
Before retiring he was self-employed as a radio and television repairman for many years. He was formerly employed as a coal miner at the former Pine Ridge Colliery, Wilkes-Barre. He also worked in the local garment industry for several years.
He was preceded in death by his wife of more than 70 years, the former Mary Stanko; brothers , Andrew and Michael Yencha.
Surviving are his sons , John F., Monroeville, Ga.; Thomas A., Ashley; Myron W., Wilkes-Barre; Edward P. Yencha, Plains Township; sisters , Mary Ferrara, Pittston; Emily Weiss, Wilmington, Del.; Lillian Danko, Plains Township; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Joseph A. Kearney officiating.
Interment will be in Sacred Heart of Jesus R.C. Cemetery, Dallas.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. The Holy Name Society of St. John's will recite the Rosary on Tuesday evening.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, c/o Central Administrative Offices, 13 Chandler St., Wilkes-Barre.
YUCAS, JOSEPH
October 31, 1999
Joseph B. Yucas, 84, of Mill Street, Avoca, and formerly of Lincoln Street, Duryea, died Sunday at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Duryea, he was a son of the late Simon and Tillie (Kristunas) Yucas.
He attended Duryea schools and served as a sergeant in the United States Army during World War II.
Prior to his retirement, he was employed by the Duryea Lumber Co. Inc.
He was a resident of Avoca for the past year.
He was a member of St. Joseph's Church, Duryea.
He was past commander and board member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1227, Duryea, and was a member of the American Legion Post 585, Duryea.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Arlene Schaffer; a brother, John Yucas; sisters , Mrs. Helen Bullock and Beatrice Yucas.
Surviving are daughters , Mrs. Joseph (Phyllis) Yurkanin, Avoca; Mrs. Bruce (Janet) Remaley, Avoca; Mrs. Joseph (Doreen) Neutts, Duryea; eight grandchildren; one great grandchild; a brother, Edward Yucas, Duryea; sisters , Mrs. Marie Rompala, Meshoppen; Mrs. Eleanor Bonini, Torrington, Conn.; and Mrs. Alice Kutsko, New Bern, N.C.; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday from the Bernard J. Piontek Funeral Home Inc., 204 Main St., Duryea, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m in St. Joseph's Church, Duryea, with the Rev. Albert Liberatore officiating.
Interment will be in the Marcy Cemetery, Duryea.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The American Legion Post 585 will conduct military services at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
The V.F.W. Post 1227 will conduct military services Wednesday morning.
Yudichak, Ellen

Ellen Yudichak, a resident of Bonham Nursing Home in Stillwater died Wednesday at the nursing home.
Born March 25, 1908, in Larksville, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Catherine (Watkins) Hughes.
She was a former resident of East Broadway in Larksville.
Surviving are her daughters , Elizabeth Chakon, Harrisburg; Rosemary Bernoski, Hunlock Creek; and Catherine Mazur, Plymouth; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private funeral services will be from the Frederick & Snowdon Funeral Home, 617 Carey Ave., Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Vern Brummel will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Greenwood Cemetery in the Trucksville section of Kingston Township.
There will be no calling hours.
YUSKOSKY, THOMAS
December 25, 1999
Thomas A. Yuskosky, 72, of Seclusion Drive in Daytona Beach, Fla., died Dec. 25 at his residence.
Born in Edwardsville, he moved to Daytona Beach from Missouri in 1950. He was a self employed watch repairman.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the
Korean War.
Surviving are his daughter, Hunter Y. Britton, Belleview, Fla.; and his sister, Rita Paddick, Anderson, S.C.
Arrangements are under the direction of Cardwell Funeral Home in Port Orange, Fla.
LOUISE ZABIELSKI
Louise A. Zabielski, 84, formerly of Union Street, Nanticoke, died Friday at Mercy Hospital Hospice, Wilkes-Barre.
A lifelong resident of Nanticoke, she was the daughter of the late Simon and Pauline Szaboli Raczkowski.
She attended Nanticoke Schools and was a member of Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke.
She was employed as a garment worker for Silk Manufacturing, Penn Footwear and Duplan Silk Mill, before retiring in 1959.
She was preceded in death by her Husband, Joseph; and brothers , Stanley, John and Leonard Raczkowski; and sisters , Catherine Lasecki & Florence Raczkowski.
Surviving are her brother, Frank Rachkofski, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; sister, Tozia Vollrath, Nanticoke; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Monday from the Grontkowski Funeral Home P.C. 51-53 W. Green St., Nanticoke, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, Nanticoke.
Interment will be in the parish Cemetery, Nanticoke.

Zalewski, Emily

Emily A. Zalewski, of Old Forge died Tuesday at Mercy Hospital, Scranton.
Born in Old Forge, she was a daughter of the late Julian
and Antoinette (Uldinska) Radkiewicz. She was a sewing machine operator for Hy Grade, Taylor, and worked for Montage Pants, Old Forge; the former Brooks Manufacturing and the Duchess. She was a member of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Old Forge.
Surviving are her son, Richard, Voorhees, N.J.; daughter, Ann Durham, Carlisle; one grandson; brothers , Walter Radscavage, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and Roman Radkiewicz, Duryea; companion, Peter Linsky, Taylor; nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers , Julian, William and Stanley; and sisters , Sophie M. Osellanie and Veronica Radkiewicz.
Cremation will be in Maple Hill Crematory, Hanover Township. The Rev. Joseph M. Brozena will celebrate a memorial Mass at 9 a.m. Saturday in St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, Vine Street, Old Forge. Interment of her cremains will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Old Forge. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home, 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
