Sara Elizabeth Sterling, 91, of Wyoming Avenue, Exeter, died Friday at ManorCare Health Services, Kingston.
Born Dec. 30, 1908, in Moosic, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Ella (King) Willard, and attended Moosic High School. She worked as a sales clerk for S.S. Kresge Department Store, Pittston, for many years. She was a former member of the United Methodist Church of Pittston and attended the Harding Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank M.; and brothers , Donald, Max, Harry and Homer.
Surviving are her son, Willard Kent Sterling, Scranton; daughter, Nancy Poremba, at home; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother, LaVerne, Avoca; sisters , Alice Pattison, Buffalo, N.Y.; and Mrs. Carl Michael, Macungie; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 p.m. Sunday from the Howell-Lussi Funeral Home, West Pittston. Bob Shaw, minister of Harding Church of Christ, will officiate. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday. Interment will be in Camptown Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Freda Stillarty

Freda Stillarty, 89, of Washington Square Apartments, Wilkes-Barre, died Thursday at Birchwood Nursing Home, Nanticoke.
Born March 26, 1909, in Byrnedale, she was the daughter of the late Cletus and Domenica Queri.
She was educated in Byrnedale schools and was a member of Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James; a son, Ronald; sisters , Jean, Pearl and Mary; brothers , Geilo and Nello.
Surviving are a son, Robert, Hanover Township; five grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Private funeral services will be Friday from the Desiderio Funeral Home Inc., 377 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 11:15 a.m. Friday in Holy Rosary Church, Park Avenue, Wilkes-Barre. The Rev. Peter Menghini will officiate.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Holy Rosary Roman Catholic Church, 363 Park Ave., Wilkes-Barre.
SALLY STINE

Sally (Erving) Stine, 80, of East Sixth Street in Wyoming, died Saturday at Tiffany Court in Kingston, where she lived the past two months.
Born Oct. 20, 1918, in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late John and Sara (Thomas) Erving.
Before retirement she was an office manager for Tri State Industrial Laundries in Wilkes-Barre Township.
She was a member of St. Ignatius Church, its Senior Citizens' Club, and a former member of the Widow to Widow Club, all of Kingston.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Stine; sisters , Anna Jones, Mary Wilson, June Eddy and Leona Erving; and brother, John Erving.
Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Kratz, Edison, N.J.; son, Joseph Stine, Kingston; daughter, Linda Conser, Newport, Ore.; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday from the McLaughlin Funeral Service, 416 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in St. Ignatius Church, North Maple Avenue, Kingston.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

STOFEY, ROBERT

Robert R. Stofey, 75, of North Pennsylvania Avenue in the North End section of Wilkes-Barre, who had been a resident of Wyoming Valley Manor on North Sherman Street in Wilkes-Barre, died Thursday at the Mercy Hospital Hospice Inpatient Unit in Scranton.
Born March 27, 1924, in Wilkes-Barre, he was a son of the late John J. and Julia (Garonski) Stofey.
He was a graduate of James M. Coughlin High School in Wilkes-Barre, and attended Temple University in Philadelphia. He had served with the U.S. Army.
Until his retirement, he had been employed as a supervisor in electronics by Tobyhanna Army Depot for more than 30 years. He previously worked for the U.S. Army in radar repair in Washington , D.C.
He was a member of Sacred Heart/St. John's Parish Community of North Wilkes-Barre, and the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Veronica Herman; and brother, John.
Surviving are his sons , Robert J., at home; John J., Philadelphia; and Michael, Wilkes-Barre; daughter, Carolyn M. Kaminski, Larksville; one granddaughter; and sister, Dorothy Papadakis, Falls Church, Va.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Monday from the John V. Morris Funeral Home, 625 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 601 N. Main St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. Joseph T. Gilbert officiating.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery in Dallas.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday. There will be a vigil service at the funeral home Sunday evening.

Yetta J. Stook of City Heights Apartments, North Sherman Street, Wilkes-Barre, died Tuesday at Hospice Care of the VNA, Heritage House, Wilkes-Barre.
Born March 2, 1931, in Wilkes-Barre, she was daughter of the late William and Josephine Huffman Daniels.
She attended GAR Memorial High School, Wilkes-Barre.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph, in 1988; a brother, William; sisters , Peggy Daniels and Ruth Jones.
Surviving are sons , Frank, Wilkes-Barre; Joseph Jr., Binghamton, N.Y.; daughters , Margaret Prutzman, Wilkes-Barre; June Jones, Sweet Valley; Joanne Motovidlak, Centermoreland; five grandchildren; a sister, Gladys Loefflad, Wilkes-Barre; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the Jendrzejewski Funeral Home, 21 N. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre, with the Rev. David McFarland, pastor of the Parsons Baptist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, West Wyoming.

STOUT, VIRGINIA

Virginia E. Stout, 78, a resident of the Easton Nursing Center, died Monday at Easton Hospital.
Born March 13, 1921, in Cementon, she was the daughter of the late John and Pearl (Thomas) Klemick.
She was employed as a seamstress by Modern Clothing in Allentown until she retired in 1983.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl M. Stout.
Surviving are her son, James C. Stout, of Shavertown; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday from the Schisler Funeral Home, Inc., 2119 Washington Ave., Northampton. Interment will be in Bethlehem Memorial Park, 1851 Linden St., Bethlehem.

STRACHKO, CECELIA

Cecelia "Bunny" Strachko, of the John Heinz Nursing Center, Scranton, died Wednesday at Community Medical Center, Scranton.
Born in Hazleton, she was a graduate of Hazleton High School and resided in Wilkes-Barre for the past 15 years.
She was formerly employed at Summit, Leader and Riverstreet Manor Nursing Homes and at Piledggi's Italian-American Restaurant.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Maple Hill Chapel, Hanover Township, with the Rev. Robert Burnett, of Sacred Heart Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Arrangements are by Yeosock Funeral Home, 40 S. Main St., Plains Township.
SUSAN STRINEY
Susan V. Striney, 92, of Mildred died Friday at Memorial Hospital in Towanda.
Born Nov. 14, 1906 in Lopez, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Veronica (Youpa) Minarik.
She attended Lopez schools.
She worked for many years at the former Dushore Silk Mill and lived in Mildred all of her life.
She was an active member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Mildred. She also greatly venerated St. Theresa.
She was preceded in death in 1987 by her husband, Paul M. Striney, whom she married Sept. 2, 1928; by her son, Paul A. Striney, in 1996; her sisters , Helen Calaman, in 1993, Veronica Perogaff, Anna Mras, Mary Bills and Sister Mary Anthony (Julia) of the Poor Clare's; and brother, John Minarik.
Surviving are her daughter, Clarice Poplin, Mildred; brother, Joseph Minarik, Binghamton, N.Y.; sisters , Rose Rogalla Beaver, Bloomsburg; and Elizabeth Marshall, Towanda; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday from the P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Francis of Assisi Church, with the Rev. Patrick J. McLaughlin, her former pastor, presiding.
Interment will be in St. Francis of Assisi Cemetery in Mildred.

Strittmatter, James

James N. Strittmatter, of Graham Avenue, Lee Park section of Hanover Township, died Thursday at Smith Health Care Limited, Mountaintop.
Born March 2, 1912, in Mauch Chunk, he was a son of the late Harry Strittmatter and the late Louise Strittmatter Pryor. He was a 1930 graduate of Girard College, Philadelphia. He was a staff sergeant in the U.,S. Army during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post 132, Wilkes-Barre. He worked for Air Reduction, Scranton, and Dancheck, Kingston, until his retirement. He was a member of St. Clement-St. Peter Episcopal Church, Wilkes-Barre, where he was a vestryman and Sunday school teacher; the Girard College Alumni Association; Masonic Lodge 61, Wilkes-Barre; Valley Consistory, Bloomsburg; and the Irem Temple Shrine, Wilkes-Barre.
Surviving are his wife the former Alda Rogers, with whom he would have celebrated 62 years of marriage Feb. 25; nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorothy; and brothers , Howard, Frank and Kenneth, Sr.
A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated at noon Saturday in St. Clement-St. Peter Episcopal Church, with the Rev. Robert Mikol as celebrant. Interment will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Township. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until noon Saturday at the church. Ruth Strohl, of Tunkhannock, died Friday at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Born Aug. 23, 1908, in Eaton Township, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Ida Becker Eastwood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Strohl; son, James Strohl Jr.; and several brothers and sisters .
Surviving are her sons , Edward Strohl, Elmira, N.Y.; Wesley and Harry Strohl, both of Tunkhannock; Glenn Strohl, Fort Mills, S.C.; daughter, Anna Engleman, Tunkhannock; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at noon Tuesday from the Sheldon-Kukuchka Funeral Home, 73 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with the Rev. James R. Howell, Pastor of the Northmoreland Baptist Church in Centermoreland.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
