Helen L. Sheakowski, of Willow Street, Hanover Green section of Hanover Township, died Sunday in the Hampton House, Sans Souci Parkway, Hanover Township.
Born in Glen Lyon, Newport Township, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Michaelene Stashak.
Before retiring, she was employed by Ann Lee Frocks, Breslau, Hanover Township.
She was a member of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church, Buttonwood, Hanover Township.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Marcel, in 1981; brothers Stephen and Ernest; and sister Celia Harkal.
Surviving are her daughter, Marcella Domanski, Lyndhurst, N.J.; sons Chester, Clarks Summit; Albert, Korn Krest, Hanover Township; 10 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; sister, Verna Kolakowski, Glen Lyon; brother, Joseph Stashak, Massena, N.Y.
Funeral services will be 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from the Charles V. Sherbin Funeral Home, 630 Main Road, Hanover Green, Hanover Township, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in the Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church.
Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends may call 6 to 9 p.m. today.
Christian Wake service will be this evening with the Rev. James E. McGahagan officiating.
JENNIE SHEMANSKI

Jennie Shemanski, 79, of West Main Street in the Glen Lyon section of Newport Township died Monday at Birchwood Nursing Center on Middle Road in Nanticoke.
Born Sept. 22, 1919, in the Lee section of Newport Township, she was a daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Ksiazek) Mirezwa.
She had resided in Detroit for 24 years and had been employed there for several years as a nurse's aide at Martin Place Hospital. She had also been employed by St. Monica's Church in Detroit, where she had been a member.
She was a member of St. Adalbert's Church in Glen Lyon and the parish Altar and Rosary Society.
She was preceded in death by her brothers , Walter and Edward, and sisters , Helen Zubritski, Verna Sorrentino and Lillian Olenginski.
Surviving are her husband, Edmund, to whom she was married 59 years this past Dec. 31; sons , Frank, Brea, Calif.; Mark, Plymouth, Mich.; John, West Bloomfield, Mich.; and Joseph, Westland, Mich.; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 9 a.m. Saturday from the George A. Strish Inc. Funeral Home, 211 W. Main St., Glen Lyon, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Adalbert's Church.
Interment will be in the parish cemetery in Glen Lyon.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. There will be a rosary service at 3 p.m. Friday by the Altar and Rosary Society, with the Rev. Carl Prushinski officiating.
ELEANOR SHEMANSKI
April 21, 1999
Eleanor Shemanski, 70, of Second Street in Wyoming died Wednesday at Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born June 10, 1928, in Exeter, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Frances Puscavage Proshunis.
She was a 1945 graduate of Exeter High School.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed at Jean Marie Dress in Wyoming.
She was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Wyoming and International Ladies' Garment Workers Union.
Surviving are her husband, Henry; a son, attorney Donald Shemanski, Nicosia, Cyprus; two grandchildren; a sister, Charlotte Conway, Exeter; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Kizis-Lokuta Funeral Home, 134 Church St., in Pittston with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church in Wyoming.
Interment will be at St. Casimir's Cemetery in Pittston.
A private family viewing will be conducted from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

SHERBIN, SOPHIE

Sophie B. Sherbin, 84, a resident of Hampton House on the Sans Souci Parkway in Hanover Township, formerly of the Hanover Green section of Hanover Township, died Thursday at Mercy Hospital in Wilkes-Barre.
Born Dec. 10, 1915, in Hanover Township, she was a daughter of the late John and Camilla (Rovinski) Bujnowski.
She attended Hanover Township schools and was a lifelong resident of Hanover Township.
She was a life member of Exaltation of the Holy Cross Church in the Buttonwood section of Hanover Township and a former member of the Ladies Social Welfare Club.
She was preceded in death by her son, Dr. Robert J. Sherbin; brothers , Stanley, Bernard, John, Albert and Olyphant; and sister, Helen Urner.
Surviving are her husband of 56 years, Charles, funeral director, Hanover Township; sons , Charles, III, funeral director, Hanover Township; and William, Malvern; daughter, Susan Falcone, Plains Township; four grandchildren; brother, Frank, Clearwater, Fla.; nieces and nephews.

Sheridan, Joseph

Joseph Sheridan, 76, of Port Griffith, Jenkins Township, died Monday in Troy Community Hospital.
Born March 22, 1923, in Pittston, he was a son of the late Michael "Mickey" and Rose (Redding) Sheridan. He was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and the Holy Name Society. He graduated from St. John the Evangelist High School. He worked 30 years for the Murray Corp. and the Diamond Manufacturing Co. for five years.
Surviving are his wife, the former Margaret "Margie" Hoban; daughter, Maureen Murphy, West Pittston; sons , Joseph, Troy; and Robert, Dallas; nine grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; sisters , Catherine Cawley, Bath; Hannah Raymond, Niagara Falls, N.Y.; and Loretta Sutter, Hudson Falls, N.Y.; and brother, Eugene, Trenton, N.J.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Eileen Grabosky; brother, Jamie; and sister, Helen Sheridan.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday from the Ruane & Regan Funeral Home, 18 Kennedy St., Pittston, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston. SHEVLIN, RUTH

Ruth Shevlin, of the West Side of Scranton died Tuesday at her home.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of the late Nicholas and Martha Schwinn Weber.
She settled in West Scranton two and a half years ago. She previously resided in Taylor and was a 1929 graduate of Taylor High School.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in West Scranton and the parish Society of the Faithful.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; daughter, Helen Day; and brothers , Clarence and Charles.
Surviving are her daughter, Joan Smith, with whom she resided; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; brother, Willard, Montgomery, Texas ; sisters , Mildred Clark, Taylor; and Thelma Orlandi, Norwich, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday from the Durkan-Cuff-Kearney Funeral Home, 125 N. Main Ave., Scranton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church on Jackson Street in West Scranton.
Interment will be in Cathedral Cemetery in Scranton.

RUTH SHONE
Ruth Shone, 84, of Luzerne died Thursday at the Hospice Unit of the VNA in Wilkes-Barre.
Born Sept. 20, 1914 in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Elizabeth Williams.
She was a resident of Luzerne for the past 13 years and previously lived in Kingston.
She and her late husband, Edward, who died in 1980, served as caretakers at the Dorranceton United Methodist Church in Kingston.
She was a member of Bethesda Congregational Church in Edwardsville and served as vice president of the Social Club of Luzerne Towers.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday from the Karl E. Blight Funeral Home, 392 Wyoming Ave., Kingston with the Rev. Loren Swartz officiating.
Interment will be in Chapel Lawn Memorial Park in Dallas.

SHORTZ, RUTH
October 4, 1999
Ruth Shortz, 93, of Wilmington, Del., died Monday at St. Francis Hospital in Wilmington.
Born Aug. 10, 1906, in Luzerne, she was a daughter of the late William and Lucy (Thompson) Austin.
She was a graduate of Luzerne High School and Wyoming Seminary. She had been a resident of the Back Mountain for more than 50 years.
She had been the owner and operator of Austin Gift Shop in Luzerne.
She was a member of the Trucksville United Methodist Church for more than 50 years and a member of the church quilting group for more than 40 years. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Dallas Lodge.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Byron W.; daughter, Alice Davis; and sister, Leona Austin.
Surviving are three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday from the Harold C. Snowdon Funeral Home, 140 N. Main St., Shavertown, with the Rev. W. Charles Naugle officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Dallas.
